Education and Certification USSF A License - 1991USSF Course Instructor - 1981-Present Coaching Experience: I began coaching in 1978.  I have tried to have a "multi-level" effect on the game.  Below are benchmark experiences that I am most proud of: Received US Soccer "A" License (#A801) in 1991 (received B License in 1987, C License in 1981).Conducted 75+ US Soccer state sponsored coaching courses ("F,E,D & C") licenses in Washington State and Alabama from 1981 to present.Writer for WSYSA's Soccer News & Play On state newspapers (received Ted Hastings Media Award for Editorial Excellence, 1999.) Articles have also appeared in Soccer Journal and Soccer America.Coached varsity boys and girls high school soccer to 125 wins (Timberline HS, Lacey, WA) 1983-1992.Guided youth teams to five state championship finals; three State Cup Championships, 1986,1997 & 2004..Lead Mountain Brook Soccer Club (Birmingham, AL) as Director of Coaching 2000-2005. Lead comprehensive training and camp program for 1200 player club.Lead Federal Way Football Club, 2006-2016 (Federal Way, Washington) to Regional Club League (top league in Washington) and had two US Club Soccer National Champions.Became the first Director of Soccer Operations at Saint Martins University (Head Womens and Mens Coach of brand new soccer program) 2006-present; Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year 2009 in both mens and womens soccer; mens team won GNAC championship in 2009. Average of 8 women and 5 men receive All-Academic honors; One GNAC Player of the Year; 28 women and 20 men named to GNAC All-Conference teams (many players multiple years). Womens soccer avg GPA: 3.2, men 3.1.Served as NSCAA West Regional Ranking Committee member in Womens soccer (2007-2015) and mens soccer 2011-2016.Served as NCAA Regional Advisory Committee member Mens soccer (2009-11; 2019-present, Super Region 4 Co-Chair and Men's D-II National Committee) and Womens soccer (2015). Additional Experience: I have also had the opportunity to benefit from some top quality coaching opportunities: Member  WSYSA Olympic Development Program Staff (goalkeeping coach) 1987-00 & AYSA ODP staff 2000-2005.  Elite Player Development Boys 05 Coach, 2019-20.Member US Youth Soccer Region IV Coaching Staff (Boys, 1987-90, 2014-17, 2019 & Girls 1992-99) and Region III Staff (Boys, 1999-2006). Served on staff of 1996 US Men's Olympic Soccer Team (goalkeeping coach in two training camps prior to games).Served on staff of 2000 US Women's Olympic Team (goalkeeping coach for the Algarve Cup, Portugal).Member US Soccer National Goalkeeping Coaching Staff, (Natl GK, & National Coaching SchoolsA, B & C Licenses)1997-2015.Lead Goalkeeping Training for US Soccer U-14 Girl's National Camp, 1998-00.Traveled to inter-regional and international events as USYS Region III Staff Coach (2001-2006).Assisted in the writing of US Soccer National Goalkeeping Curriculum under Peter Mellor. Iovani Rodriguez Perez

Assistant Coach

Saint Martin’s men's soccer Head Coach Rob Walker announced the addition of Iovani Rodriguez Perez as an assistant coach for the Spring 2023 season. Rodriguez was a former player for the Saints from 2017 to 2019 and Gonzaga University in 2016. During his playing career, Rodriguez had the privilege of being a part of various teams in the Pacific Northwest with Yakima United, Vancouver Victory, PDX FC, Oly Town FC, and Thurston County FC. Transitioning into coaching, Rodriguez helped Tumwater High School achieve a 3rd place finish in the 2A WIAA State Championships in 2022. Additionally, Rodriguez helped the development of young soccer players as a coach for the Thurston County Soccer Academy. Iovani's commitment to the sport extended beyond his coaching duties. Throughout his career, he actively engaged with the youth soccer community. He volunteered as a coach for Three Rivers Soccer Club, Christ the King Middle School, and various sports training camps. Most notably, Rodriguez co-founded a non-profit organization called Community First Soccer Organization. This organization aims to make soccer accessible for children in disadvantaged communities, reflecting Iovani's dedication to inclusivity and community service. Born and raised in eastern Washington, Rodriguez graduated from Hanford High School in 2016. He pursued higher education at SMU, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2019.
