Alexis Calloway
Head Coach
Alexis Calloway was named the 16th head coach in the history of the St. Mary's College volleyball program in July 2022. Calloway is involved with several committees. Since 2023, she has served as the United East Conference volleyball committee chair, the United East representative on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Head Coaches Committee, and the AVCA All-Region Selection Committee. She earned the 2022 AVCA Diversity Award, a coach development program for up-and-coming volleyball leaders. In her first three seasons at the helm of Seahawks volleyball, Calloway has led SMCM to back-to-back conference tournament semifinal appearances while recording the program's first winning season in eight years with an 18-11 record in 2024. She stepped into her first collegiate head coaching job after four successful years coaching at the high school level in Virginia (2018-2022). The Williamsburg, Va., native also spent four seasons (2014-2018) as a head and assistant national coach with the Williamsburg Volleyball Club. In two seasons at Warhill High School (Williamsburg, Va.), Calloway led the Lions to a pair of Virginia High School League (VHSL) Region 4A runner-up finishes as well as a semifinal appearance in the 2021 VHSL Class 4 State Championships. She mentored three VHSL All-State players and five all-region selections, posting a two-year record of 30-12 at Warhill. Calloway coached both volleyball and basketball at Bruton High School, her alma mater, between August 2018 and March 2020, leading the Panthers to a quarterfinal appearance in the 2018 VHSL Class 2 State Championships for Bruton's first state playoff appearance since 1996. A 2018 graduate of Randolph College, she earned a bachelor of arts in business administration with a minor in sports and exercise studies. Calloway was a four-year member of the Wildcats women's basketball team and currently ranks fifth in the Randolph record books in blocked shots (74) and ninth in rebounds (613). While at Bruton HS, she was an All-Bay Rivers District performer in both volleyball and basketball in addition to being a district champion in track & field. THE CALLOWAY FILE AT ST. Ashley Welch '23
Assistant Coach
Ashley Welch '23 joined the Seahawks coaching staff right after completing her four-year career at SMCM. Welch, a defensive specialist during her time at St. Mary's College, racked up 243 digs in three seasons as her sophomore campaign was canceled by COVID. She also added 32 assists and 30 service aces. Off the court, Welch demonstrated academic excellence as a two-time United East Scholar-Athlete. The California, Md., native graduated from SMCM in May 2023 with a bachelor of arts in psychology with a minor in special education. Updated: July 23, 2025

Reiko Allred
Assistant Coach
Reiko Allred joined the Seahawks coaching staff for the 2020 season as an assistant coach. In 2021, Allred led the SMCM volleyball program as the interim head coach while Kelly Gordon was away on maternity leave. She led St. Mary's College to an 8-14 record, including a 4-4 mark in its first year in the United East Conference. Additionally, she mentored setter Fatima Bouzid '22 to Second Team All-United East honors. Allred coached locally as well, serving as the head coach at Huntingtown HS in Huntingtown, Md., in 2016. She guided the Hurricanes to a third round appearance in the Maryland Class 3A State Championships with a 15-3 record. The West Jordan, Utah, native also claimed two Utah Class 6A state championships as an assistant coach with Brighton and Cottonwood High Schools. After graduating from Utah’s Taylorsville HS, Allred spent a year at Salt Lake Community College (Utah) before transferring to Montana State University Billings where she was a setter and defensive specialist for the Yellowjackets.
