Tracy Johnson
Head Coach
Tracy Johnson is in her seventh season as the head women's hockey coach at St. Olaf in 2025-26 after being named the program's fourth head coach on March 29, 2019. A two-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2024-25), Johnson has led St. Olaf to a 45-78-5 (.371) record through six seasons. After inheriting a team that was winless in 2018-19 and did not win a game in 2019-20, Johnson has led the Oles to at least nine victories in each of the last five seasons, including three consecutive seasons with double-digit wins over the last three seasons. During Johnson's time on the Hill, St. Olaf has produced eight All-MIAC selections, six Honorable Mention All-MIAC honorees, 54 Academic All-MIAC honorees, 32 AHCA All-American Scholars, and seven College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees. The Oles have also made three MIAC Playoff appearances in the last four seasons. A native of Plymouth, Minn., Johnson came to St. Olaf following six seasons as the head women's hockey coach at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md., where she led the Mustangs to a record of 85-60-11 (.580). After taking over the second-year program in 2013-14, Stevenson won at least 14 games in four of Johnson's six seasons and claimed the inaugural Colonial Hockey Conference title in 2015-16. Through nine seasons as a head coach at St. Olaf and Stevenson, Johnson has a career record of 94-100-13 (.486). At Stevenson, Johnson coached 23 all-conference selections, including four league Players of the Year and two Rookies of the Year, and was named the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coach of the Year. Under her watch, 45 student-athletes were named to conference-wide All-Academic Teams in three seasons, including 21 in 2017-18, and nine student-athletes earned AHCA All-American Scholars a year ago. Johnson, who also served as the assistant director of compliance at Stevenson, has additional coaching experience with the Midfairfield CT Stars 19U and Minnesota Jr. Chill 12U, 10U and 8U teams. She started her coaching career with stops at Arlington Catholic High School (Mass.) and Amherst College (Mass.). A 2010 graduate of Boston College with a degree in marketing, Johnson played in 125 games for the Eagles, captaining the team as a junior and senior. The Eagles advanced to the national semifinals in her first season of 2006-07 and the national quarterfinals in her junior year. A native of Plymouth, Minnesota, Johnson played hockey at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, where she was a two-year captain, two-time all-state honoree, three-time all-conference selection and Hobey Baker Character Award winner, while helping lead the Red Knights to a state championship in 2004. In 2019, Johnson was inducted into the Benilde-St. Margaret's Athletic Hall of Fame. THE OLES UNDER TRACY JOHNSON SEASON OVERALL PCT. MIAC PCT. John Bazzachini
Assistant Coach
Bazzachini will enter his 12th season in 2016-17. He has led his St. Olaf teams to MIAC playoffs appearances in six of his 11 seasons at the helm. Bazzachini inherited two All-Americans -- Susannah Brokl and Lindsay Boeser -- and with the duo the 2006-07 season was the most successful. The team finished 15-10-1 overall and 12-5-1 in MIAC play that winter, good for a school-best second place finish and Bazzachini was named the league's coach of the year. Bazzachini played two years of Division I hockey for the United States Air Force Academy, before transferring to and graduating from St. John's University. He was a two-time All-MIAC pick at St. John's, leading the Johnnies in scoring both seasons. Bazzachini captained the 1981 Johnnies. Bazzachini coached the Irondale High School boys team for eight years and Hopkins for two seasons before joining St. Olaf's women's hockey staff in 2005. He also served as a head coach for the CODP (Community Olympic Development Program), and is founder and President of John Bazzachini's Hockey Training, started in 1986, which trains over 700 kids a summer. A native of Hibbing, Minn., he and his wife Pam have three daughters; Bailey, Lauren and Jennifer. THE OLES UNDER JOHN BAZZACHINI
