The team finished in 35th place at the NCAA Tournament, a fifth straight Top 40 finish. Joe Stahley
Assistant Coach
Stahley enters his 13th year as the head coach of the Stevens Institute of Technology mens golf team in 2016-17, coming off a season in which the teams scoring average improved for the seventh consecutive season. Stahleys plan to build a long term sustainable and successful golf program includes recruiting prospective student-athletes who can meet Stevens academic admission standards, and whove established a record of good results in junior golf tournaments. In addition, the Stevens golf program features a very strong tournament schedule, instruction from a teaching professional, and an outstanding strength and conditioning program. Under Stahleys leadership, the Stevens golf program enjoyed its most successful season in 2015-16 in a season that saw multiple individual and team records fall. The Ducks capped their season in April by completing a 1,282 during the four-day Empire 8 Championship, the lowest score in program history. Frank Szucs and Jack Doherty were each named First Team All-Conference, while Doherty was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year. The 2014-15 season saw Cameron Hill make program history with a second place finish at the Empire 8 Conference Championship, after leading through the first three rounds. As a team, the Ducks placed fourth to give them their second highest finish in program history. The finish came on the heels of a third place finish in 2014 where Frank Szucs paced the Ducks with a 309 to put him in a tie for sixth overall, and give him, at the time, the highest finish for a Stevens golfer in the championship. Additionally, the teams regional and national ranking were also the best in team history, and the team achieved a 3.45 GPA during the 2013-14 academic year. Stevens is an outstanding opportunity for an academically focused student and accomplished golfer who seeks an excellent education while playing and enjoying college golf. In June 2013, Coach Stahley retired from his position as Assistant Vice President for Student Development to cap a run of 25 years serving the Stevens community. Stahley elected to continue coaching the program he was instrumental in starting as a club sport in 2004 before it attained Varsity status in 2006. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Vice President for Student Development, Stahley served as the Director of Career Development and Cooperative Education at Stevens. He was previously employed at Montclair State University.
