Stuart Moran
Head Coach
Coach Stuart Moran enters his second season as the head women’s soccer coach in 2025 The Scotland native arrives in Hoboken after a four-year stint at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Moran and the Coaching Staff earned MAC Freedom Coaching Staff of the Year in 2024 after leading Stevens to an 11-6-2 mark at the No. 2 seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament. The defense surrendered just 12 goals all season and conceded one marker during the MAC Freedom regular season. After opening the season 1-4, the Ducks went unbeaten over their next 11 (9-0-2) while allowing three goals during the stretch. Prior to arriving on Castle Point, Coach Moran spent four years as both a coach and an administrator at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. First arriving in Riverdale, New York in February 2020 as the ninth head coach of the Dolphins’ program, the squad compiled 33 victories and a .636 winning percentage, under his’s tutelage – the most of any prior regime (when the school was known as the College of Mount Saint Vincent). During his time as a Dolphin, the women’s soccer program collected 12 All-Skyline Conference accolades and secured the first conference championship in program history on Nov. 4, 2023. At the time of his hiring in 2020, Coach Moran was also appointed the athletic department’s compliance officer and concluded his tenure in Riverdale as an Associate Director of Athletics. Prior to landing his first head coaching position, Coach Moran spent five years as an assistant coach spread across stops at Yale, Fairfield and St. John’s. He first entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at the University of Bridgeport. The Ducks’ new head women’s soccer coach earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in sports promotion entertainment management from Northwood University in 2007, where he was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team and helped the NAIA school reach the national quarterfinals during his senior season. Coach Moran went on to complete his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport in 2014.

Haleigh Drake
Assistant Coach
Haleigh (Svede) Drake was named a women's soccer assistant coach in January 2024 and enters her second season in 2025. In her first season on the sidelines, Drake helped lead Stevens to the MAC Freedom Championship Game and the No. 2 seed in the Tournament. The Ducks conceded just one goal across seven MAC Fredoom regular season matches. With Svede in the fold as the Director of Operations at Seton Hall, the Pirates recorded their most points and goals in Big East conference play since 2011 and secured the program’s second-most wins since 2012 (6), Following the season, senior Natalie Tavana was named the 2023 Big East Offensive Player of the Year, the first for the program since 1999. Tavana would go on to earn All-Region accolades from the United Soccer Coaches, which was the first for the program in 10 years. Before her tenure at Seton Hall, Svede was on the coaching staff at Felician University. Named to the United Soccer Coaches’ 30 Under 30 Class of 2021-22, while head coach at the Manhattan Soccer Cub, the Minisink, New York native also coached soccer at various public, private, and charter schools throughout the five boroughs. She remained at the Manhattan Soccer Club through the summer of 2022. She also spent one year on the staff at the Eastern New York Girls ODP South program. Additionally, Svede spends her summers as a master coach at the Berkshire (Mass.) Soccer Academy. Svede now patrols the sidelines at Morris Country’s STA program. A four-year member of the Mercer University women’s soccer program, Svede appeared in over 3,500 for the Bears, scoring six goals with two assists across 63 games. Two of Svede’s six goals were game-winners. With Svede in the fold, Mercer captured the Southern Conference title in the program’s first season in the league after moving from the Atlantic Sun five months prior. The Bears advanced to the postseason in all four of Svede’s seasons in Macon, reaching the A-Sun semifinals in her debut season, then reaching consecutive SoCon finals in 2015 and 2016, while accumulating 43 victories and 10 ties. Svede, who resides in Jersey City with her fiancé, turtle and two cats, earned her bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from Mercer in 2017. She notes that her love for soccer blossomed on the fields in Orangeburg, N.Y. while playing for World Class Soccer Club and expresses an immense amount of gratitude towards her parents, Joe and Regina her two sisters, Lizzie and Nicki, and husband Casey for the never-ending support throughout her playing and coaching journey.

Valerie Barnhart
Assistant Coach
A familiar face at Stevens, Valerie Barnhart returns for her 16th season as a volunteer assistant as the women's soccer program in 2025. A standout in soccer and women's lacrosse, Barnhart was inducted into the Stevens Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. She holds the top four spots in the women's soccer record books in single-season goals and points while also holding the career records for goals, goals per game, points, points per game and shots.
