Stevenson University Men's Volleyball

Grossnickle led the Mustangs to their third ECAC Division III Championship in the last five years after guiding the team to its second-straight CVC Championship game. Senior David Moler was named to the  From 2010-14, Grossnickle helped lead the Mustangs to 94 wins, a .696 winning percentage, four-straight 20-win seasons and the program's first-ever national ranking. Stevenson also won the ECAC Division III South championship in 2011 and 2013. Grossnickle is a 2009 graduate of Stevenson with a bachelor of science degree in business communication. He was a four-year starter and two-year team captain. He is ranked third in school history in digs (799), fifth in games played (382) and 10th in service aces (45). He also received the Fighting Heart Award honoring a student-athlete who has overcome the odds and showed perseverance in their life, on or off the field. As a senior, Grossnickle helped the Mustangs to the title game of the 2009 ECAC Division III South Championship and the first 20-win season in school history as the team went 20-13. He led the team with 285 digs, a mark that ranks third all-time in school history. Also that year, Stevenson led the nation in digs per game. Off the court, Grossnickle has worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore since 2010. He currently lives in Perry Hall.  

Gardner is in his seond year as head coach of the Mustangs, after serving as an assistant coach for the last from 2021 to the 2023 seasons. In his first season, he led Stevenson to a 15-12 mark and a 5-3 record in the MAC, earning a spot in the conference playoffs.  A four-year member of the Mustangs, Gardner was a two-time All-Conference selection under head coach Aldis Berzins. In four seasons, Gardner appeared in 110 matches and totaled 880 kills, 480 digs, 181 blocks, and 59 service aces. He was a two-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Second Team selection as both a junior and senior. Gardner was a part of two NCAA Tournament teams, including in 2016 when the team advanced to the Final Four after winning the Continental Volleyball Conference championship. The Mustangs won the inaugural MAC title in 2018 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Additionally, Gardner was named to the 2018 Academic All-MAC team. Gardner is a 2019 graduate of Stevenson with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
