Head Coach
Pike joined The College at Brockport as the head volleyball coach in the spring of 2013. In just three seasons as Brockports head coach, Pike transformed the Golden Eagles from the bottom of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) to the top leading Brockport to its first SUNYAC title since 1994 and sixth conference championship overall in 2015. Under Pikes tutelage in 2015, the Golden Eagles had one of its most successful campaigns in school history finishing the year with a record of 34-2, setting a record for the highest winning percentage in school history as the .944 mark also led the nation in 2015. Following Brockports first NCAA appearance in multiple decades postseason accolades came pouring in for the team and Pike. Pike was named the SUNYAC, Northeast Region and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Volleyball Coach of the Year while six players earned All-SUNYAC honors including SUNYAC Co-Player of the Year Kayla Barber. Barber and Noelle Poloncarz also received All-America honorable mentions from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (ACVA), while Poloncarz was named the SUNY Chancellor Award recipient. With Pike at the helm, Brockport has improved each successive season once he took over in 2013. In his first season Brockport improved to a 10 win team after failing to reach double digit win totals prior to his arrival. The next season Brockport took a major step forward more than doubling its total wins, finishing with a record of 22-12 which included its first SUNYAC playoff berth in four seasons. Pike joined Brockports staff in 2013 after a very successful tenure within the SUNYAC at Potsdam. Pike was the head coach of the Bears for 11 seasons after working his way up from an assistant coach position. During his 11 seasons at Potsdam, Pike was awarded the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award in 2005. He has carried on a streak with Brockport that he started in Potsdam in which at least one player on every team he has coached has earned All-Conference honors. During his time leading the Bears volleyball team, he held the most victories and best winning percentage amongst his Potsdam peers. He was also named by Potsdams Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as the Coach of the Year in 2006, also coaching two SUNYAC Rookie of the Year award winners in back-to-back seasons, in 2007 and again in 2008. In addition, Pike has worked at the USA National Camp as an assistant coach for several years. He works with the USA Volleyball High Performances top Pipeline Coaches to coach some of the nations top 12-15 year olds. Pike has been a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) since 1999. Jim Clar

SUNY Brockport Athletic Director Erick Hart announced the hiring of Jim Clar as the new head women’s volleyball coach on February 16, 2023. Clar will be responsible for all aspects of Brockport's storied women’s volleyball program. "We are excited to have Jim join our Brockport family," said athletic director Erick Hart. "He has over a decade of head coaching experience at our level and was able to develop Hartwick’s program into a championship caliber team in the Empire 8 Conference. He’s also a proven recruiter and he did an excellent job conveying his vision for Brockport volleyball during the interview process. We're thrilled to welcome Jim into the Brockport community, and we can't wait for him to begin working with our student-athletes.” Get to Know Coach Clar Clar spent the last 11 seasons developing the Hartwick College volleyball program into a perennial contender in the Empire 8 Conference. His hard work came to fruition this past Fall as he guided the Hawks to their best record in program-history, 20-5 overall, en route to earning Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year honors. He piloted the Hawks to the program’s first Empire 8 Championship game appearance; four all-conference selections and he also mentored the Empire 8 Player of the Year. "I am honored and grateful to be selected as the next Head Volleyball Coach at SUNY Brockport,” said Clar. “I want to thank Erick Hart and the entire athletic administration for their confidence in my ability to lead this program. I look forward to working relentlessly in pursuit of making a positive impact on all aspects of the student athletes' experience." During his time at Hartwick he had a 96% retention rate of recruited student-athletes while building an inclusive, respectful, and competitive team culture. His coaching style features highly organized practice plans to optimize repetition efficiency with the use of the cauldron system to ensure a competitive atmosphere with equal opportunity for all athletes. He was responsible for all aspects of the program, including monitoring academic success, scheduling and organizing travel and competitions, as well as maintaining the team budget. He also spent three seasons as the Empire 8 Volleyball Chair, and he was a member of the AVCA All-American/All-Region selection committee for five years. While at Hartwick he also spent time as the head strength and conditioning coach, he was a physical education instruction, a Title IX representative and he oversaw gameday management for indoor sports. From 2010-2016 he was a USA Volleyball Coach at the High Performance Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, the High Performance Developmental Camp in Geneva, Ohio and he was a High Performance Tryout Coach in Buffalo and Rochester. Prior to his time at Hartwick he was the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Nazareth, helping to guide the Golden Flyers to an NCAA berth in 2011. He also has experience at the club level. He was the Legion Volleyball Club 17U girls travel head coach (2016-17) and he spent three seasons with the Rochester Volleyball Club coaching the 15U, 17U and 18U teams. Playing Experience Originally from Rochester, Clar earned four letters in volleyball at Churchville-Chili High School before attending the University of Hawaii to pursue a degree in Sociology while playing Division I men’s volleyball. He captained the squad in both his junior and senior seasons as an outside hitter. After graduating from Hawaii in 2009, he trained and competed professionally overseas, in Holland and Germany.

Maddie Torres
Coach
Maddie Torres is a graduate of Frostburg State University where she played all four years as a setter. She earned her degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and will pursue her master’s degree in School Counseling. While at Frostburg, the Vienna, Va. Native coached for the Volleyball Club for three years, training age groups of 14, 15, 16 and 18 year olds. In addition, Maddie coached camps for the Arlington Elite Volleyball Club.

Brooklyn Sullivan
Coach
Brooklyn Sullivan joined the Brockport Women’s Volleyball coaching staff before the 2024-25 season, following a four-year playing career with the Golden Eagles. Playing in 65 matches (190 sets) from 2021-23, Sullivan posted career totals of 431 digs, 42 assists, 48 service aces, and 56.5 points. Her season saw career highs in digs per set (2.58), assists (26), and service aces (33), doubling her point totals from her junior season (15-39.5). The Constableville, NY native will be entering her second season as an assistant coach, helping lead the squad to a successful 17-10 season and mentoring three All-Conference selections, including Empire 8 Libero of the Year Elise Logan.

Julia Wallace
Coach
Julia Wallace joined the Brockport Women’s Volleyball coaching staff for the 2024-25 season following a four-year playing career at SUNY Geneseo. From 2021 to 2023, Wallace played in 68 matches (229 sets), helping lead the Knights to a 21-6 conference record across three seasons. Wallace earned Second-Team All-SUNYAC honors in 2023, finishing her playing career with 427.5 points, 352 kills,140 blocks, and 134 digs. A native of Ithaca, NY, Wallace graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in Sociology in 2024.
