Ryan Stevens
Head Coach
Ryan Stevens, a veteran head coach at the collegiate level, was named the next leader of the SUNY Canton baseball program, as announced in August 2024. He enters his first season at the helm of the program during the 2024-25 academic year. Stevens spent the five years as the Head Baseball Coach at Wells College while also serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Recruiting and the Head Golf Coach. He led the Express baseball team to their first winning record in program history in 2024 as the team finished the season 19-18 overall, an eight-win improvement from the previous season. Three players earned All-Conference honors following the season. Over his five seasons at the helm of the Express Stevens amassed 55 victories. Prior to his time at Wells, Stevens was the head coach at Tompkins-Cortland Community College for five seasons leading the Panthers to nearly 100 wins. His teams showed steady progress each year, and the 2018 squad earned the program's first trip to the NJCAA playoffs in nearly 10 years. The 2018 team set program records for wins (22) and winning percentage (.579) and set several single-season records in numerous pitching categories. The Panthers recorded their second-straight winning season in 2019 under Stevens' leadership. At both Wells and Tompkins-Cortland he was responsible for all facets of the programs ranging from scheduling games, planning travel, ordering equipment and supplies, managing a budget and fundraising among other initiatives. “Ryan brings tremendous experience as a head coach over the last decade at both the Division III and junior college level,” Athletic Director Randy Sieminski said at the time of his hiring. “He is a proven recruiter who has led multiple programs to success. We are looking forward to him getting started and leading the growth of our program into the SUNYAC.” Prior to being named the head coach at Tompkins-Cortland, Stevens was the field manager, director of baseball operations and assistant general manager of the Alpine Cowboys, a Texas-based independent professional team, from 2010-2014. He was a three-time Pecos League All-Star Manager (2012, 2013, 2014) and the 2012 Pecos League Manager of the Year. His team won league championships in 2010 and 2012, as well as the Mountain Division in 2014. “I would like to thank Randy Sieminski and the rest of the search committee for putting their trust in me to be the next leader of the SUNY Canton baseball program,” Stevens said at the time of his appointment. “I am excited to join the staff and lead the program in the transition to the SUNYAC. I look forward to getting started right away and meeting the returning players, while hitting the ground running in recruiting.” Across his 17 seasons as a head coach at both the collegiate and professional levels Stevens has an overall record of 377-340. Stevens, who also worked as an associate scout in the West Texas region for the Washington Nationals, served as an assistant coach at Ithaca College during the 2013-14 school year. He was also the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Tompkins-Cortland from 2006-2010. He is a Dryden, New York native and graduated from Dryden High School before playing collegiate baseball at SUNY Cobleskill and Frostburg State University. Stevens has an associate’s degree in Business Administration from SUNY Cobleskill and a bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Sul Ross State University. Stevens is married to his wife, Dana, and they have one daughter, Maddie. (Updated 8/12/24)

Ian Crawford

Coaching Career: Ian started at SUNY Canton in September 2024 as the hitting and catching coach. Prior to Canton Ian spent three years as an assistant at Wells College with Ryan Stevens. He spent two years as the hitting coach. In those years the offense hit .269 with a .361 OBP and then .315 with a .402 OBP. Ian also served as the catching coach for Wells. Playing Career: Ian played four years for Wells College as a catcher and first baseman. He is the career leader in fielding % for Wells with a .984 fielding %. Ian was a captain, a four-time scholar athlete and received the Wells Express award. Ian played for Jamesville-Dewitt High School and was a captain and received All-Conference honors. Education/Professional: Ian received a B.S. in Business with a minor in Psychology and Sports Management from Wells College. Ian holds a Master’s degree in Aviation Management from Everglades University. Ian is a certified EMT. Ian holds a pilot’s license, and his full-time job is as the Chief Pilot for a Syracuse-based aviation company. (Updated 9/24/25)

Joe Cuddy

Coaching Experience: At Wells (2022-2024) Joe Cuddy enters his second season on the coaching staff where he works as the Outfield Coach and Head of Opponent Scouting. On game days is responsible for preparing outfielders, in-game analytics, and at times is the first base coach, along with other logistical tasks. Joe, is known to be a players coach and always creates time to check in with players whether it’s baseball related or not. Scouting (2022-2024) Coach Cuddy helps Coach Stevens throughout the offseason attending various camps, clinics, and recruiting showcases for the Express baseball program. Cuddy has also helped coach the youth when Wells College hosts U.S. Baseball Academy Camps for local baseball players. Playing Career: College Coach Joe Cuddy was a two-year member of the Express playing in 15 games, where he was a utility player before his career got cut short due to injuries. During his Sophomore season (2022) Cuddy batted for an average of .250 and ripped a double against nationally recognized United States Merchant Marine Academy at the time. Cuddy found time in the infield and outfield making only one error in 21 total chances. Accumulated a 1.000% Fielding Percentage as a First Year in 2021. Coach Cuddy was a promising pitcher before arm injuries shortened his career as well. High School Cuddy attended Spencerport High School where he was a 4 year member of the baseball program where he played two years on varsity. While a member of the Rangers baseball program Cuddy pitched and played First Base. Also was a member of the men’s volleyball team for four years as a Defensive Specialist where he played 2 years on varsity Personal: Is from Spencerport, New York where he attended Spencerport High School. Mother Sherie, father Chris. Cuddy has two sisters named Maggie and Clare. Coach Cuddy is an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan along with rooting for his hometown Buffalo Bills. Outside of baseball, Cuddy enjoys traveling all over the world as he has been to 23 countries to this point. As a student at Wells, Cuddy studied abroad in Spain. Coach Cuddy is certified biliterate in Spanish and is always looking to learn more about humanity and different cultures. Outside of baseball Cuddy enjoys working and running Barton’s Parkside Hots hotdog stand. Coach Cuddy is currently finishing up his undergraduate dual degree this spring in Sociology/Anthropology while double Minoring in Sports Management and Spanish. Alphonse Fuca

Alphonse Fuca enters his first season as an assistant coach with the SUNY Canton baseball program for the 2025-26 academic year. Fuca was a four-year member of the Roos baseball program. He recorded 81 hits, 53 runs, 16 doubles, three triples and drove in 35 runs in his career while spoting a .398 on-base %. (Updated 8/21/25)
