Steve Patrick
Head Coach
Patrick enters his 10th season as Cortland's track and field head coach in the 2016-17 school year. He also begins his ninth year as the Red Dragons' cross country head coach in 2016. Patrick has been named U.S. Track and FieldĀ and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Atlantic Region Track and Field Coach of the Year four times (outdoors in 2008, 2012 and 2013, and indoors in 2016), and State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year six times (outdoors in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2016, and indoors in 2009 and 2016). On the women's track and field side, he was named Atlantic Region Indoor Coach of the Year in 2012 and SUNYAC Coach of the Year eight times (outdoors in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and indoors in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2014). Patrick's men's track and field squads at Cortland have won seven SUNYAC titles (outdoors in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2016, and indoors in 2008, 2009 and 2016). The Red Dragons finished second nationally at the 2008 NCAA Div. III outdoor championships, tied for eighth nationally indoors in 2008, and tied for 10th nationally in 2016. They also won the 2013 ECAC indoor crown and tied for second at the ECAC indoor meet in 2015. The men's teams under Patrick boast four individual national titles - Amaan Siddeeq in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes outdoors in 2008, Jake Zanetti in the pole vault outdoors in 2009, and Nick Vachon in the high jump outdoors in 2016. In addition, Melique Garcia was the national runner-up in the 200-meter dash at the 2015 NCAA indoor championships. Patrick's women's track and field teams have won seven SUNYAC titles (outdoors in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and indoors in 2012, 2013 and 2014) and have placed in the top six at the ECAC Championships four times. His teams have included indoor national high jump runners-up Taylor Hudson (2015) and Kristen Serikstad (2009). Patrick led Cortland's men's cross country team to the 2008 NCAA Division III title and the women's team to a ninth-place national finish. He was selected as the USTFCCCA Division III Men's Cross Country National Coach of the Year, Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and SUNYAC Coach of the Year. In 2009, he repeated as the men's Atlantic Region Coach of the Year as the Red Dragons won the regional title and finished fifth in the nation. In 2010, he earned SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors as his squad won the conference crown and finished 15th at the NCAA Championships. His Red Dragon women also placed 26th nationally in 2014. Patrickalso led the men's cross country team to national finishes of 20th in 2011, 23rd in 2012, 13th in 2013 and 19th in 2014, as well as the 2013 SUNYAC title. He was chosen as the 2013 SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. Patrick served as an assistant track and field coach for the Red Dragons from 2004-07 and has been a lecturer in the Colleges physical education department. Among his responsibilities as an assistant was coaching Cortlands hurdlers, including 2007 NCAA Division III womens 100-meter hurdles and heptathlon champion Christina Acquaviva. He currently coaches the sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers and multi-event athletes. Previously, Patrick was an assistant track and field coach at Ithaca College from 2002-04 and an assistant cross country coach at Cortland in the fall of 2003. Prior to those duties, he was the track and field head coach and an assistant coach for the cross country programs at SUNY Cobleskill from 2000-02. He also coached Cobleskills mens soccer team in 2001. While at Cobleskill, Patrick coached eight National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national champions and 17 NJCAA Division III All-Americans. Patrick was also a track and field and cross country assistant coach at Cortland in the 1999-2000 school year. Patrick has obtained USA Track and Field Level II Certification in the sprints, hurdles and relays and also has been a certified USA Track and Field Level I course instructor. He has served as a frequent contributor to Track Coach, the technical publication for coaches published by USA Track and Field. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Patrick competed in cross country and track and field for four seasons at Cortland, competing in the NCAA Division III Championships in 1993. Patrick is a 1997 graduate of Cortland, where he earned a bachelors degree in physical education. In 2000, Patrick earned a masters degree in exercise physiology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. A native of Batavia, N.Y., Patrick and his wife, Marissa, have two sons, Daniel and Kyler.

Eric Banks
Assistant Coach
Banks begins his third season on the Cortland coaching staff in 2015-16 after a successful four-year career in track and field with the Red Dragons. He works primarily with Cortland's sprinters, hurdlers and relay teams. Banks received a bachelors degree in Physical Education from Cortland in 2013 and is currently seeking a master's degree in Health Education from the College. Banks earned All-America honors twice at Cortland as a member of the 4 x 400 relay teams at the 2010 NCAA Div. III Outdoor Championships and 2012 NCAA Div. III Indoor Championships. He also was a member of two winning 4 x 400 relays at the ECAC Div. III Championships and four victorious 4 x 400 relays at the SUNYAC Championships. Banks was a 2-time SUNYAC champion in the indoor 400-meter dash at the championship meet, and he is a member of the school-record setting indoor and outdoor 4 x 400 relay teams. Banks is also a USA Track and Field (USATF) Level I certified coach. Banks graduated from Westbury High in 2009, where he was a member of the football track and field teams.

Phill Wiltshire
Assistant Coach
Wiltshire begins his second season on the Cortland track and field coaching staff in 2016-17. He also served on the staff in 2012-13 after a successful four-year career with the Red Dragons. Wiltshire was an assistant coach at Carthage College in Wisconsin during the 2014-15 school year and was a member of the coaching staff at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia in 2013-14. He coached the school record breaker in the 60-meter dash at Carthage and the school record setter in both the 60-meter and 100-meter dashes at Mary Washington. Wiltshire earned All-America honors twice at Cortland as a member of the 4x400-meter relay teams at the 2010 NCAA Div. III Outdoor Championships and 2012 NCAA Div. III Indoor Championships. He also was a member of two winning 4x400-meter relays at the ECAC Div. III Championships and four victorious 4x400-meter relays at the SUNYAC Championships. Wiltshire captured the 400-meter hurdle title at the 2011 outdoor conference meet and is a member of the school-record setting indoor and outdoor 4x400-meter relay teams. Wiltshire earned a bachelors degree in physical education from Cortland in 2011 and a master's degree in exercise science from Cortland in 2013. A native of Apalachin, N.Y., he graduated from Vestal High, where he competed in track and field, cross country and football.
