Brad Bruhn

Head Coach

Bruhn begins his 15th season as Cortlands wrestling coach in 2016-17. He has led the Red Dragons to top-30 NCAA Division III finishes in each of his first 14 seasons, including seven top-10 and 11 top-20 showings. Bruhn is Cortland's career victory leader with a combined 190-69-1 (.733) dual-match record and his teams have won at least 10 matches in 13 of his 15 seasons. In 2015-16, Bruhn led Cortland to a seventh-place NCAA finish with two All-Americans, including a national champion, a 12-3 dual record, and a second-place Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) finish. For his efforts, he was chosen as the ECWC Coach of the Year for the fifth time. His Red Dragon squad enjoyed similar success in 2014-15 with a 13th-place NCAA showing and two All-Americans, also with one national champion. In 2013-14, Bruhn was named the NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Coach of the Year and the ECWC Coach of the Year after guiding the Red Dragons to a 13-4 dual record, the NCAA Div. III Northeast Regional title and a tie for sixth at the NCAA Div. III Championships. Three of his wrestlers were All-Americans, including a national runner-up, and the team was second in the ECWC. In 2012-13, Bruhn led Cortland to a ninth-place national finish and the championship at the first-ever NCAA Northeast Regional. Three of his wrestlers earned All-America honors. Cortland also finished 18-2 in dual matches to set a school single-season victory record. In 2011-12, Bruhn led Cortland to a 10th-place national finish, an ECWC team title and a 17-3 dual-meet record. Three of his wrestlers were All-Americans. Bruhn has guided the Red Dragons to four ECWC crowns since 2007. In 2010-11, Bruhn's squad finished 14th nationally and second in the ECWC. The team featured two All-Americans. In 2009-10, Bruhn earned ECWC Coach of the Year honors when he guided the Red Dragons to a conference title and a 22nd place national showing with two All-Americans. In 2008-09, his Red Dragon squad placed second in the league and finished 19th at the NCAA Division III Championships. Among his wrestlers was a national runner-up. In 2007-08, Bruhn led Cortland to an 11-0 dual-match record - the first undefeated mark in school history. The Red Dragons earned a share of the ECWC title, sent four competitors to the NCAA Championships (with one All-American) and tied for 28th nationally. Bruhn was chosen as ECWC Coach of the Year that season. In 2006-07, the Red Dragons tied for eighth nationally and won their first ECWC championship since 1999. Six Cortland wrestlers qualified for nationals and three earned All-America honors, including a national runner-up. In 2005-06, Cortland placed sixth nationally, its highest finish since the 1995-96 season. The Red Dragons featured two All-Americans, including Cortlands first individual national champion since 1990, and Bruhn earned ECWC Coach of the Year honors for the first time. In 2004-05, the Red Dragons placed 16th nationally with two All-Americans. In 2003-04, Cortland finished 10th in the nation with three All-Americans, while Bruhns 2002-03 squad had one All-American and tied for 25th nationally. Cortland posted a 16-3 record in 2006-07, a 16-4 record in 2009-10 and a 16-9 mark in 2003-04. The Red Dragons also won 14 matches in 2010-11 and 13 matches in both 2002-03 and 2005-06. Cortland finished second at the ECWC Championships in both 2003-04 and 2005-06. Prior to his arrival at Cortland, Bruhn was the assistant wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse during the 1997-98, 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons. In that time, the wrestling teams placed third, second and fourth, respectively, at the Division III Championships. Bruhn has also served as the head wrestling coach at Centaurus High School (Colo.), leading the squad to a second-place finish at the state championships. He had five wrestlers earn all-state honors and one claim a state title. Bruhn is a 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teaching with an emphasis in Coaching Competitive Athletics. In 2002, he earned his Masters of Science in Exercise and Sports - Physical Education Teaching from Wisconsin-La Crosse. Bruhn was a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American and earned All-America honors at 126 pounds in 1995. During his career at Wisconsin-La Crosse, he was named Most Valuable Freshman, Most Improved Wrestler, team captain and was crowned a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) champion. He was also named to the Deans List five times. Born in Cadott, Wis., Bruhn is a 1992 alumnus of Cadott High School. He competed in wrestling and track and field for four years.

Tommy Prairie

Head Coach

Tommy Prairie enters his fourth season as Cortland's wrestling head coach in 2025-26. The 2024-25 season saw Prairie lead Cortland to a share of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) team title, a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals, and a tie for 31st at the NCAA Division III Championships. In addition, Angelo Centrone was an All-American with a runner-up finish at the national tournament, and was the Region II Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet and the SUNYAC Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet. In 2023-24, Prairie also guided Cortland to the SUNYAC team title, in the first year the conference sponsored the sport since 1991. The Red Dragons placed eighth at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals and tied for 53rd place at the NCAA Division III Championships. In his inaugural season with the Red Dragons in 2022-23, Prairie led the program to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals and a 40th-place showing at the NCAA Division III Championships with four national qualifiers. Prairie came to Cortland after serving as head coach at Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania for 11 years from 2011-22. During his tenure at Washington & Jefferson, Prairie’s teams featured 17 NCAA qualifiers, including eight All-Americans, along with 33 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) individual champions and 26 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans. He coached the school’s first national champion when Nick Carr won the 157-pound title at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships. Prairie was named the PAC Coach of the Year in 2020 after leading the Presidents to their first PAC team title since 1999 along with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional.    Prairie served as head coach at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire from 2007-11. He coached 19 wrestlers who placed at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championships, the NCAA qualifying meet, and had five NWCA Scholar All-Americans. Prairie was named the 2008 NEWA Rookie Coach of the Year, was selected to the National Wrestling Leadership Academy in 2009, and helped the Panthers finish fourth at the 2011 NEWA Championships for their best finish since 2003.    A native of Delran, N.J., Prairie was a standout wrestler at Williams College in Massachusetts, where he graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science. He was a three-time All-American at 125 pounds, including a national runner-up finish in 2005, a third-place showing in 2003 and a fourth-place finish in 2004. Prairie compiled an overall collegiate record of 106-8, was a three-time NEWA champion, earned the South Jersey College Wrestler of the Year award in 2005, and was inducted into the New England Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010. Prairie earned a master’s degree from Cumberland University in Tennessee in 2006 and served as a graduate assistant coach at the school during the 2005-06 season.    A 2001 graduate of Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., Prairie was a high school All-American and a national prep All-American as a member of the nation’s top-ranked high school team. He also attended Delran High School before spending one year at Blair Academy. He was a state place winner and two-time state qualifier at Delran and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.    Prairie and his wife, Jessica, have two sons, Chase and James.   (updated 6/8/2025)

Dale DeBacco

Assistant Coach

DeBaccos fourth as an assistant coach on the Cortland wrestling staff. Prior to Cortland, DeBacco served as an assistant coach at Niagara Community College (NCC) during the 2012-13 season. He helped the team earn two individual All-America honors as well as a Region Three team title that included six individual champions. DeBacco compiled an 83-25 record in two years at NCC, setting the school record for career victories. He was a two-time All-American, capturing two Region Three titles. DeBacco also was a two-time Academic All-American, earned first team All-WNYAC honors twice and was elected as the team MVP both seasons. He was awarded the Presidents Cup in 2008 as the top sophomore student-athlete at NCC and was inducted into the Region Three NJCAA Hall of Fame in February, 2014. DeBacco completed his collegiate career at Div. II Newberry College, where he compiled a 52-20 record in two seasons, earning a national ranking as high as fifth and the number-one ranking in the East Region at 149 pounds as a senior. He received  a bachelors degree in mathematics from Newberry in 2011. A native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., DeBacco competed in golf and wrestling for four seasons and was the Section Six AAAA champion at 135 pounds as a junior and the runner-up at 145 pounds as a senior at Niagara Falls High.

Anthony Miraglia

Assistant Coach

Anthony Miraglia begins his third season as an assistant coach for the Cortland wrestling team in 2025-26 after joining the staff prior to the 2023-24 season. In Miraglia's two seasons at Cortland, the Red Dragons have won two SUNYAC titles and had two qualifiers for the national championship meet.  Miraglia has significant coaching experience working as a volunteer wrestling clinician for Bulletproof Combat since 2024, and as a coach for Bohn MMA and with the Mongoose Elite Wrestling Club since 2022. He also coached for the Valle Boxing Club from 2021 to 2023, and currently is a substitute teacher in the Homer Central School District. Miraglia began coaching after a stellar collegiate wrestling career at Alfred State from 2017 to 2023. He was an AMCC Individual Champion, and captained Alfred State to a team title in 2022-23. A four-year team captain, Miraglia was honored with the Unsung Hero Award in 2023, and was named to the Alfred State Athletic Department Athlete of the Year team in 2020-21. He was also nominated for the SUNY Chancellor's Student Excellence Award two times in 2022 and 2023, and was a nominee for the Athletic Director and Pioneer Legacy Award in 2023. In the classroom, Miraglia was honored as a NWCA Scholar All-American in back-to-back years in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Miraglia graduated from Alfred State with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology in 2022. He also earned an associate's degree in Sport Management, and was named the Most Outstanding Student in 2022-23. Miraglia was a 2021 graduate of the SUNY Sail Student Leadership Academy, as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) in 2022.  A native of Byron, NY, Miraglia was a three-sport athlete in wrestling, football, and cross country at Byron-Bergen. He graduated in 2017, having surpassed 100 career wins in wrestling, was a Section V sectional champion in 2016, and two-time state qualifier and placer in 2015 and 2016. He was also named to the New York State National Freestyle Wrestling Team, and as an alternate for the New York State National Greco Wrestling Team in 2016.

Jason Reynolds

Coach

Reynolds begins his 15th year as a member of the Cortland wrestling coaching staff in 2014-15 after having wrestled for the Red Dragons in the heavyweight division from 1994-99. A 1999 graduate of Cortland with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, Reynolds registered a 28-9 career record with seven pins, including a 9-2 record as a freshman and a 15-5 mark in his second season. A 1994 graduate of Walton Central, Reynolds lettered in wrestling, football and baseball. He finished second in the state at 215 pounds his senior year and won two gold medals at the 1993 Empire State Games.

Ryan LeBlanc

Coach

LeBlanc enters his second season on the Cortland wrestling staff in 2015-16 after an exceptional five-year career at Division I Indiana University at 165 pounds. LeBlanc, who earned a bachelors degree in exercise science from Indiana in 2014, was a two-time team captain for the Hoosiers. He was named IU Wrestling Most Courageous, received the IU Wrestling Team Leadership Award and was a Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient as a senior. A native of Morrisville, N.Y., LeBlanc competed in soccer, tennis and wrestling at Morrisville-Eaton, where he was a two-time state champion and three-time All-American in wrestling.
