Tony Ciccarello
Head Coach
SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook / Twitter Tony Ciccarello assumed the head coaching duties of the Fredonia softball team in January 2014. Ciccarello's pre-Fredonia teams had a record of 278-193 with 11 SUNYAC Tournament appearances. He was twice named SUNYAC Coach of the Year. He spent 11 seasons as head coach of SUNY Geneseo (2002 through 2012). His Geneseo teams went 258-174 overall and he coached the 2002 Blue Knights to the program's first SUNYAC title -- resulting with an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. Ciccarello was named the SUNYAC Softball Coach of the Year in each of his first two seasons (2002 and 2003) at Geneseo. His 2003 and 2005 teams won ECAC Upstate Division III softball titles. In 2013, Ciccarello left his part-time position at Geneseo for a full-time position at SUNY New Paltz. He coached the Hawks to a 20-19 record -- including an 11-7 mark in the SUNYAC. The Hawks qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in three seasons and their 11 conference wins were the most since the 2008 team won 13 games. While coaching softball at Geneseo, Ciccarello worked as a physical education teacher at the St. Agnes School in Avon, N.Y., from 2005-12. Prior to coaching in college, Ciccarello spent 17 seasons as the girl's varsity softball coach at Webster High School, leading the Warriors to two Section V Class A championships (1988 and 2001) while being named Monroe County Coach of the Year in 2001. Ciccarello earned his Bachelor of Science in physical education from The College at Brockport in 1979 and received his Master of Arts in education/curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2006. His duties at Fredonia will include facilities management in the Department of Athletics & Recreation.

Caitlyn Cybart
Assistant Coach
Caitlyn Cybart joined the Fredonia State softball staff during the during the 2022-2023 season. Cybart graduated Magna Cum Laude from Houghton University in May 2021. She completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and earned minors in Chemistry and Psychology while playing basketball and softball for the Highlanders. Cybart was a four-year starter for Houghton softball, splitting time between third base, first base, and catching. She ranks among the career leaders for the Highlanders -- second in fielding percentage (.980), fourth in batting average (.321), and fifth in slugging percentage (.407). Cybart was named Empire 8 All-Conference Honorable mention for softball in 2019, and was named a NCCAA Scholar Athlete for both basketball and softball throughout her career.

Alexandra Pucci-Schaefer
Assistant Coach
Alexandra Pucci-Schaefer is the Diving Coach at SUNY Fredonia and head coach of the Buffalo Blizzards Diving Club, which trains out of the Fredonia State Natatorium. A former NCAA Regional Qualifier and three-year collegiate diver at SUNY Geneseo, Alexandra brings both high-level experience and a deep love for the sport to every practice. Now in her second year coaching at Fredonia, she works with collegiate athletes and age-group divers alike, helping them grow in confidence, skill, and competitive drive. She’s also an AAU-certified diving coach and a proud member of the Professional Diving Coaches Association (PDCA). In addition to her coaching roles in Western New York, Alexandra travels across the country to coach at diving clinics, working with athletes of all levels and continuing to grow her own coaching toolkit along the way. With a coaching style that’s supportive, driven, and always energetic, Alexandra is committed to creating a fun and focused environment where athletes can thrive.
