Thompson enters her 25 th season overall as a collegiate head coach and her tenth as the helm of SUNY Oneonta.     The 2015-16 season of 17-10 led to Player of the Year accolades for senior Lyteshia Price.  Additionally, five junior athletes were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student Athlete Honor Society.  The teams overall GPA for the year was a 3.34.  Coach Thompson has amassed over 150 wins at Oneonta bringing her total to 384 in her 24 years as a collegiate coach.    The 2014-15 season, Thompson led the team to a 16-11 record finishing fourth in the SUNYAC.  She had one player selected to the All-Conference team and another to the SUNYAC conference All-Tournament team.  The team adventure was to Daytona, FL and Disney where they enjoyed the competition, beach and fun filled days in Disney.   During the 2013-14 season, she led the team to an 18-8 record finishing 4th in the SUNYAC.  One player was selected to the All-Conference team. The team adventure was to Puerto Rico where they enjoyed the competition and the beautiful surroundings and climate.  They toured Fort San Felipe del Morro Castle, took a catamaran tour of the island in the Caribbean Sea and toured Old San Juan to take in some native culture.   In 2012-13, she led the team to a 19-9 record, including a SUNYAC Championship as well as a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team took a trip during the Christmas break to Florida where they competed and were able to enjoy time at the Disney and Universal Studios.   In 2011-12, she led the squad to a 21-7 record, finished second in the SUNYAC during the regular and advanced to the championship game of the SUNYAC tournament. The teams success led to three players being selected to the All-Conference Team. It was the third season in her first four at Oneonta that the program recorded 20 wins, and the 20th win also marked her 300th win as a head coach.  The team also took a trip to Las Vegas during the Holiday break where they competed, attended two shows and enjoyed a Division I game at UNLV.   Thompson has been pushing the team to an ever-higher series of successes since her first season at Oneonta. In her first year, Thompson guided the Red Dragons to a three-way tie for first place in the final SUNYAC East Standings and an appearance in the semifinals of the conference tournament. Oneonta hosted the ECAC Upstate New York Tournament where they finished runner-up after losing to SUNY Cortland in the final. She would go on to amass 78 wins during her first four seasons, tying the programs best four-year stretch recorded from 1994-98.   Before taking the reins of SUNY Oneonta, Thompson spent 15 years as the head coach at Hartwick College. During her tenure at Hartwick, she compiled an overall record of 223-161 while making four NCAA tournament appearances, the last of which came in 1999. Thompsons squads made three straight NCAA tournament appearances from 1995-1997 while also winning the NYSWCAA tournament in 1997.   In 1999, Thompson was the WBCA District II Coach of the Year, Women's Division III Coach of the Year by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, NYSWCAA Coach of the Year, and Empire Athletic Association Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Hawks to an NCAA Tournament appearance and a 17-10 record.   In 2004 she was named Empire 8 Coach of the Year for a third time after leading the Hawks to a 15-12 record. That year Hartwick reached the Empire 8 Conference Tournament and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament.   Thompson, a native of Morris N.Y., served as head coach of the Central Region open division team at the Empire State Games from 1997-2002. She led the team to four medals, including a gold, two silvers and a bronze.   Thompson served as a committee member for the NCAA East Regional Basketball selection from 1998-2000. She also served as the Chair of the NYSWCAA Basketball committee during the 1998-1999 seasons and Executive Council Sport Chair from 1999-2008.   A 1990 graduate of the University of Delaware, Thompson was a four-year varsity player for the Division I Blue Hens and a team captain as a senior. Thompson appeared in 107 games at Delaware as a forward on teams that won over 60 percent of their games while capturing two East Coast Conference Championships. As a senior, she played in all 30 of the team's contests and shot .603 from the field.   After graduating from Delaware with a degree in physical education, Thompson spent time abroad with the United States East Coast All-Star basketball team that won seven of eight games on a trip to France.   Thompson returned to her alma mater as a graduate assistant in the fall of 1990. She was heavily involved with the Blue Hens daily practice routine and helped with recruiting. Thompson also analyzed videotape of individual players and team performance. During her tenure, she received a masters degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 1992. Thompson is a National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) certified athletic trainer.   Thompson was a celebrated scholastic performer on the court at Morris Central School, where she finished her five-year varsity career with more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds for the Mustangs. As a senior, The Daily Star of Oneonta, N.Y, named Thompson Player of the Year.   She currently resides in Morris, NY with her Husband and daughter.

Daphne Thompson

As the SUNY Oneonta Women’s Basketball Program embarks on the 2026-27 season, Thompson enters her 20th season at SUNY Oneonta and 35th overall as a collegiate head coach.   As I reflect on my career, and where I look to grow myself and the athletes that work with me, I focus on the following; “I am proud of the women that I have had the opportunity to work with over the years and I am looking forward to seeing the development of future teams.  Our goal is always to compete for a conference championship and return to the NCAA tournament.  Additionally, we are focused on academic success and the continual growth of our women not only in the classroom and on the court but as strong, confident, leaders for the future.” In 2025-26, Oneonta reached the SUNYAC Semifinals after finished the season 15-12 overall and 9-9 in the SUNYAC. A highlight trip included the Montreal Shootout with a contest against No. 1 NYU. Kayla Beaudoin earned SUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors to become the third Red Dragon to do so, and Lidia Boucher was All-SUNYAC Third Team. Carlie Young and Megan Desrats picked up CSC Academic All-District recognition.  The 2024-25 season saw the Red Dragons reach the first round of the SUNYAC Championship after finishing the regular season 11-15 and 8-10 in conference. Senior Amanda Zuntag received SUNYAC second team honors and was invited to play in the 2025 Eurobasket Portugal Tour this past summer. Zuntag said, “It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity… being able to play with and against girls from all over the world while being in one of the beautiful places was unforgettable.” Zuntag also received CSC Academic All District recognition along with fellow seniors Nadia Brown, Molly Coyne, and Emma Schwarzbeck. The Red Dragon squad also placed eight student-athletes on the SUNYAC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. In 2023-24, Oneonta reached the SUNYAC First Round after going 10-17 overall and 8-10 in the conference. Senior Molly Stephens grabbed All-SUNYAC Second Team honors. Additionally, Stephens, Amanda Zuntag, and Emma Schwarzbeck picked up College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition.  The 2022-23 season had the Red Dragons go 19-8 with a 13-5 SUNYAC record. Oneonta clinched the three seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and reached the semifinals. Senior Olivia Dobrovosky was named D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team as well as the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-SUNYAC First Team. Additionally four players in Dobrovosky, Meg Nardelli, Molly Stephens, and Amanda Zuntag were named CSC Academic All-District.   In the 2021-22 season, the Red Dragons finished with a 14-13 overall and 10-8 in the SUNYAC. After a 2-5 start, Oneonta finished 11-7 and clinched a playoff spot in the SUNYAC playoffs. In the SUNYAC First Round, the Red Dragons were down 15 to Buffalo State after the first quarter before they defeated them 59-52. Olivia Dobrovosky was selected to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team and All-Conference Second Team. Additionally, three were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student Athlete Honor Society.  The 2019-20 season saw the Red Dragons finish with a 12-14 overall record. After facing multiple season-ending injuries, the team fought back to earn a spot in the SUNYAC playoffs. Senior Leanne Corso reached 1,000 points and collected Second Team All SUNYAC Honors, while Senior Alexa Amalbert received the SUNY Chancellor Award for Student Excellence. The team also took a trip to Puerto Rico during the Holiday break where they competed, went paddle boarding and kayaking in bioluminescent algae, and took a tour of Old San Juan!    During the 2018-19 season, Thompson led the Red Dragons to an impressive 20 win season. The team finished 14-4 in regular season conference play and remained regionally ranked in the Eastern region for four consecutive weeks during the season. Senior Madeline Frank racked up multiple honors during her senior campaign including, Academic Honors from COSIDA, SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and the very prestigious SUNY Chancellor Award. Juniors Olivia Allrich and Alexa Amalbert, were inducted into the National Student Athlete Honor Society of Chi Alpha Sigma. Tom Moriarty

Assistant Coach

The 2026-27 season finds Coach Tom Moriarty in his 29th season with the women’s basketball team. The program has seen much success with his guidance, knowledge, and consistent presence on the sidelines. His attention to detail and breadth of experience in the field make him an irreplaceable asset to the SUNY Oneonta Women’s basketball program and the Athletic department. Most recently, the Red Dragons reached the 2025-26 SUNYAC semi-finals, naming Lidia Boucher to the SUNYAC All Conference team and Kayla Beaudoin as Rookie of the Year. A graduate of Brockport State, Moriarty has a basketball background that includes over 30 years of coaching at various levels. His greatest success came when coaching the Oneonta High School girls’ varsity team. There he led Oneonta to three consecutive Section 4 Class B titles (1997, 1998, 1999), New York State Public High School Athletic Association Titles in 1997 and 1998, and the State Class B Federation Title in 1998. During this stretch, Moriarty’s team put together a string of 56 consecutive wins including an undefeated season in 1997-98. He has also coached football, basketball, and track at Morris, Unatego, and Oneonta High Schools. Moriarty lives in Oneonta and worked as a physical education teacher at Unatego Central School where he retired after 35 years of service to the district.

John Ardizone

Assistant Coach

John Ardizone joined the Oneonta women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant in October 2021 and became the Director of Recruiting in June of 2023. He coordinates all off-campus recruiting and evaluations which includes the recruitment of 2026 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Kayla Beaudoin. Additionally, Ardizone helps with team and opponent analytics as well as practice and game instruction. Ardizone previously worked as an assistant coach and athletic administrator at The College of Saint Rose at the Division II level from 2006-2020. Here he assisted in all facets of the program including player development, specifically post-focused workouts. Ardizone was also responsible for recruitment, scouting, and administrative tasks which encompassed international recruiting strategies, mastery of scouting video software, and compliance coordination. He assisted the Golden Knights to multiple NCAA appearances. Before his long-term position at Saint Rose, Ardizone assisted at multiple Division I programs including Yale University (2003-04), United States Military Academy (1998-2003), and Canisius College (1997-98). He served as a recruiting coordinator for these programs as well as assisting with scouting strategies, practice, and game operations. Ardizone also assisted at the University of Albany (1994-97) and R.P.I. (1992-94). He has recruited and developed multiple basketball all-stars including an All-American, 1000 point scorers, and multiple Hall of Famers. Ardizone received his M.S. from the University of Albany in liberal studies with a concentration in educational psychology and attended Siena College to study marketing and management. Aridzone currently resides in Voorheesville where he also serves as a varsity official for Section II and NEPSAC.

Graham Wooden

Assistant Coach

Graham Wooden ‘24 joined the Oneonta women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant and director of strength & conditioning in 2024. He is responsible for designing and implementing all strength and conditioning programs for the Red Dragon squad. Wooden also assists with player development in both small and large group settings where he emphasizes accountability, leadership, and culture with our team. The program has seen continued success with Wooden’s assistance as senior Lidia Boucher received SUNYAC conference honors and freshman Kayla Beaudoin was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in the 2025-26 season. Wooden simultaneously serves as a director for By Any Means New York based in Oneonta, NY overseeing athlete development, program structure, and performance standards. He leads training sessions with over 60 athletes focused on skill acquisition, physical development, and holistic athlete growth. Graham founded Wooden Health and Performance LLC (Oneonta, NY) in 2022 which operated as a private sport performance and strength & conditioning business, serving over 100 local athletes. Wooden was a four-year varsity basketball player, graduating from SUNY Oneonta with a degree in exercise science. He began his athletic career at division II Mansfield University before transferring back to his hometown his junior year. Playing for the Oneonta men’s program, Wooden averaged 10.5 points, shooting 42% from the field, 35% from 3, and 83% from the line. Serving as a team captain, he led his team to the SUNYAC conference tournament both years. In 2024, Wooden received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and was named an ESPN Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award Recipient. In 2020, he received the NAACP Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for exemplary leadership, cultural competence, and empathy and earned the Ricky J. Parisian Award (2020) for demonstrating respect, integrity, honesty, and responsibility. Wooden was also recognized for his academic excellence throughout his career on multiple occasions (e.g., Richard Siegfried Student Award, 4x PSAC Scholar-Athlete, NABC Honors Court). Wooden finished his varsity career at Oneonta HS where he amassed more than 1,200 points. He was a three-time Section IV All-Star and a four-time All-Conference honoree. Wooden was also selected as third team All-State and Daily Star Player of the Year his senior year Wooden is certified as a personal trainer (NASM) and strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). He currently coaches Adapt Academy NY AAU teams based out of Oneonta. He currently resides in Oneonta, NY with his wife, Mackenzie

Piper Seamon

Assistant Coach

Piper Seamon joined the Oneonta women’s basketball coaching staff as assistant in March 2025. During her first season, the Red Dragons reached the semi-finals of the SUNYAC championship, finishing the regular season 15-11 and 9-9 in conference. Senior Lidia Boucher received SUNYAC third team honors and freshman Kayla Beaudoin was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year. Seamon assists head coach Daphne Thompson with all aspects of the program including player development, scouting reports, and film analysis. She focuses on small-group sessions, film breakdown, and academic advisement. Seamon also helps coordinate various prospect events, taking lead during the program’s first annual high school scrimmage day in November 2025 where she was responsible for all marketing, communications, and event operations. Seamon also leads the team’s social media accounts and supervises the dietetics interns.  In 2024-25, Seamon volunteered as a girl’s basketball assistant at her high school alma mater in Cooperstown, NY. The Hawkeyes finished 21-5, winning the NYS Class C Section III championship, ending their season in the State Final Four. Seamon assisted in statistical analytics, practice operations, and game day strategies where she helped develop multiple athletes who earned All-State and All-Conference recognition. Seamon was a four-year varsity player at Hamilton College. During her senior season she helped her team become the first in program history to start a season 10-0 and tied their program record for the most regular season conference wins in the NESCAC. In 2024 she received the inaugural Murphy Graduate Scholarship Award. Seamon graduated from Hamilton with a degree in psychology and a concentration in educational studies. Making the Dean’s List on multiple occasions, Seamon showcased her passion for athletics and mental health when she presented her thesis entitled, “Athletic Participation as Protection? Understanding the Relationship Between Sport Type and Eating Disorders in Females.” Seamon finished her high school career at Cooperstown CS where she amassed more than 1,100 points and 500 rebounds. She was a two-time Section III Class C champion and four-time Center State Conference Champion. Seamon earned multiple All-State, All-Conference, and MVP honors throughout her career. Seamon is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. She also coaches the U-14 Adapt Academy NY girl’s AAU team alongside Graham Wooden ‘24 based out of Oneonta, NY.
