Head Coach
Headley is headed into her fourth season as the head coach of the SUNY Oneonta softball program in 2017. In 2016, the Red Dragons finished fourth in the SUNYAC regular season and fifth in the SUNYAC tournament. Three players were named to the All-SUNYAC team. In 2014, her first season at the helm of the Red Dragons, Headley directed the greatest one season turnaround in program history and the fourth best single season improvement in the history of NCAA Division III softball with its 22-win improvement from the previous season. The Red Dragons finished 30-11 after completing an 8-28 season in 2013. Oneonta won the SUNYAC regular season title and capped it off with an 8-0 win against Cortland in the SUNYAC Conference Tournament Championship. The Red Dragons earned the automatic berth to the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in program history, its first since the 2004 season. In Headleys three years with the program the team has produced 13 All-SUNYAC recipients, two SUNYAC Players of the Year, two SUNYAC Rookies of the Year and five NFCA All-Region players. Headley arrived in Oneonta after spending the previous 10 years as the head coach at Division II Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa. During her tenure, she recorded eight, 20-win, seasons while becoming the winningest coach in the programs history. While at Mercyhurst, she coached 31 All-Conference, eight NFCA All-Region, six Daktronics All-Region and two Daktronics All-Americans. She also had a pair of Academic All-Americans with her team consistently holding a team GPA of 3.3 or better. Her 2010 squad finished second on the NFCA Top Ten Academic list with a 3.619 GPA. Prior to Mercyhurst, Headley served as the first assistant at Division I Florida International University. The Florida International team made its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2003. Headley spent two years as a graduate assistant softball coach at the University of Augusta in Augusta, Georgia. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree there in May 2001. Headley played her college ball as a catcher at Robert Morris University. She was named All-Northeast Region in 1997, selected to the All-Northeast Conference squads in 1997 and 1998, and was chosen NEC Academic Player of the Year in 1998. She was named ECAC Female Athlete of the Year and Woman of the Year for Robert Morris in 1999. She graduated cum laude from Robert Morris in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration/Sport Management. Coaching Philosophy: I believe in utilizing athletics to teach important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and the benefits of hard work while maintaining a competitive athletic environment. I strive to mentor student-athletes and make available the tools needed to be successful in life beyond athletics. I want to share with my student-athletes the necessity of good communication skills, good sportsmanship, and a strong code of ethics in all aspects of their life. I believe in stressing the importance of academics. All student-athletes are students first. Mission Statement: To teach and develop student-athletes into healthy and responsible adults that will make a positive impact on their respective communities while simultaneously competing at a high level.

Chris Schuler
Head Coach
Schuler enters her 29th season as the head coach for both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. During her tenure, she has continued to build the program through the recruiting process while increasing the number of participants. Schuler’s background in sport psychology has taught her team dynamics and team culture is crucial for a program’s longevity and success. Her fundamental philosophy as a coach is to develop more than a team, but to create a family. When an athlete feels committed, dedicated to their team, their family, they will give much more to make a difference. Strong programs are made of hard work, great responsibility, and the highest respect. In 2025-26, five men's swimmers earned All-SUNYAC honors with the 200-medley, 200-freestyle, and 400-medley all earning medals. On the women's side, Macayla Hodkinson became the first women's diver to qualify for the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Championships. The 2023-24 season saw the men's team medal in the 400-freestyle relay (second), the 800-freestyle relay (third), and 200-freestyle relay (third). Additionally senior Mason DeLisio medaled in the 100-freestyle (third). In 2015 Coach Schuler earned the title of Women’s Coach of the Year. The men’s team performance in 2012 earned Schuler the men’s Coach of the Year honor for the first time and her third honor overall. In 2000, she was awarded the Women’s Coach of the Year. In 2006, Schuler had her first SUNYAC champion in men's swimming when Peter Millspaugh '07 won the 200-yard backstroke. In 2009, she had her first SUNYAC champion on the women’s side when Michele Sano '10 won the 100-yard backstroke, as well as being the first women in the college's history to make an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Most recently, Alex Miller ’13 captured 3 conference championships titles as well as SUNYAC conference records and NCAA DIII B cut performances in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke and 400 IM (2013). He was awarded SUNYAC Swimmer of the Meet because of his spectacular performances. Julia Llewellyn ’19 currently holds school records for the 100, 200 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke and 200 IM and consecutive SUNYAC championship titles consequently was names SUNY Oneonta Outstanding Athlete of the Year in 2019. Schuler came to Oneonta after completing her master's degree in sport psychology in 1997 from Springfield (MA) College. While at Springfield she spent a season as an assistant coach at Elms College. She has proven experience in recruiting and coaching the Div. III student athlete from her stints at Elms and as an assistant at her Alma Mater, Clarkson University. A 1993 graduate of Clarkson, Schuler was team captain and Most Valuable Swimmer for both the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. She holds three school records at the University in the backstroke, the breaststroke and the freestyle and received the Outstanding Swimmer Award as a senior. Schuler is the aquatics director at Oneonta and serves as an instructor within the Sports and Exercise Sciences. Schuler is certified by the American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid and as a Lifeguard Trainer. She also is a certified pool operator and ropes course facilitator for the challenge course at the SUNY Oneonta college camp She continues to participate in swimming and a pay it forward philosophy. Her overall advice to her athletes is the following ‘Never be afraid to try and fail, be ever so afraid of failing to try’.

Megan LaMont
Head Coach
LaMont joins Oneonta after serving as an assistant coach at SUNY Cortland from 2023-26, where she played an integral role in all aspects of the nationally competitive Red Dragons program. During her time at Cortland, she assisted with practice planning, player development, recruiting, scouting, game preparation, fundraising, community engagement, and team operations while helping cultivate a positive, student-athlete-centered culture. "I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to become the next head coach at SUNY Oneonta," said LaMont. "This is a special opportunity, and I'm excited to get to know our student-athletes, build a strong team culture, and help them grow both on and off the field. I can't wait to get to campus, get to work, and be part of the Oneonta community." At Cortland, LaMont designed position-specific training programs with an emphasis on outfield development while conducting individual and small-group instructional sessions to help student-athletes reach their full potential. She also assisted with opponent scouting and game preparation, while supporting recruiting efforts through player evaluations, communication with prospective student-athletes and their families, and coordinating campus visits. In addition to her on-field responsibilities, LaMont coordinated fundraising initiatives, organized community engagement opportunities, assisted with team travel logistics, and collaborated with the coaching staff on leadership development and program operations. LaMont earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland in December 2023 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Recreation Management and Leisure Services, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027.

Erin Radack
Assistant Coach
Erin Radack starts her second year as an assistant coach with the SUNY Oneonta Softball team in 2026. She works with the team in the weight room and splits time working in the outfield and with hitters. Radack graduated from SUNY Brockport in 2023 with a degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in strength and conditioning. Radack was a four-year player for the Golden Eagles basketball program.

Catherine Johnson
Assistant Coach
Catherine Johnson begins her third year as the pitching coach at SUNY Oneonta. Johnson, a graduate of SUNY Brockport, has a degree in journalism and minored in athletic coaching and public relations. Johnson captained the Golden Eagles, was awarded second team All-SUNYAC in 2021, and earned a pitcher of the week honor during March 2022. She struck out 226 batters in her four seasons in the pitching circle. Along with her athletic achievements, she participated in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Student Athletes for Equity

John Speranzi
Assistant Coach
Speranzi enters his 27th season with the SUNY Oneonta Softball program in 2016. He earned his 500th win as an assistant in 2014 against SUNY Geneseo, placing him in an elite group amongst Division III assistant coaches. Speranzi spent the 1990 season as the interim Head Coach and has spent the past 25 years as an assistant to one of the most successful Division III programs in the region. During this time period the program has amassed a 544-386-1 record while winning four SUNYAC titles and earning four NCAA Tournament berths. In 2001 he helped lead the Red Dragons to their best season ever with 38 wins and 10 losses. That same year, as a member of the SUNY Oneonta Softball coaching staff, he was honored with an NFCA Northeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year award. A native of Oneonta, Speranzis softball coaching experience spans more than 25 years. In 1998 he founded the All-County Softball School, which is now the 6th Ward Athletic Club All-County Softball School. The School has helped to develop some of the areas top young softball players. Speranzi is currently employed full-time as a quartermaster at the New York State Police barracks in Sidney, N.Y.
