Susquehanna University Men's Tennis

Bob Jordan ’71 completed his 30th year with Susquehanna University Tennis, starting with the women in 1994. In 2007 he took over the men's tennis team, leading both programs over all but two of the last 17 seasons. In his first 13 seasons with the women the team netted 69 wins, mentoring a pair of MAC Players of the Year in Tara McHugh (2002) and Danielle Dormer (2005), with McHugh also being crowned MAC singles champion in 2002. This era highlighted a four-year stretch where Susquehanna won 32 matches amidst a formidable MAC schedule, finishing second in the MAC Commonwealth in 2001-02 with an 8-3 record and 6-1 league mark, followed by the first ten-win season in program history the next year with a 10-2 record and 5-2 in the Commonwealth in 2002-03. This success carried over when Susquehanna made the move to the Landmark Conference in 2007, where Jordan and his staff earned Women's Coaching Staff of the Year in 2011-12 after SU set a program record with ten wins in a season and picking up the regular season conference championship. The team had three First Team All-Landmark recipients in Julia Lerner, Shelby O'Riley, and Abigail Hess. The next year Susquehanna set another program record for consecutive wins after starting the season 10-0, with Hess and O'Riley again earning All-Landmark praise. Jordan added men's coaching duties for the 2007-08 season, taking over a team that had not won more than four matches in a season since 1999. By his third year the team doubled that with the first of back-to-back eight-win seasons in 2009-10 and 2010-11. Between 2017 and 2019 Jordan coached just the men, combining for 23 wins in that span. The 2017-18 team reached the Landmark Conference Tournament after going 10-6 with a 4-3 league mark, which earned Jordan and company Men's Coaching Staff of the Year. The next season the River Hawks set a program record with 13 wins, going 13-5 and 4-3 again in the Landmark. The team tacked on another ten-win season in 2021-22 with a 10-5 mark and 5-2 in conference play, capped by Emil Vyskocil earning First Team All-Landmark in singles for the second straight year. In 2024 Jordan earned his 100th career win with the men as Susquehanna defeated Elizabethtwon 6-3 on Mar. 24. Jordan, also known as "Rip", is a former captain and No. 1 singles player for Susquehanna University tennis. A resident of Selinsgrove, Jordan also served as the boys' tennis coach at Selinsgrove High School and as an instructor at Susquehanna Valley Country Club.  YEAR WOMEN'S TENNIS MEN'S TENNIS 1994-95 3-7, 2-4 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 1995-96 4-6, 2-3 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 1996-97 5-6, 3-3 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 1997-98 3-9, 2-5 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 1998-99 3-9, 2-5 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 1999-00 4-7, 2-5 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 2000-01 5-7, 3-4 MAC Coached by Gary Fincke 2001-02 8-3, 6-1 MAC All-MAC: Tara McHugh, Singles Champion Tara McHugh, Player of the Year Coached by Sean Monaghan 2002-03 10-2, 5-2 MAC Coached by Rob Logan 2003-04 6-3, 4-3 MAC Coached by Rob Logan 2004-05 8-4, 5-2 MAC All-MAC: Danielle Dormer, Player of the Year Coached by Tracy Karr 2005-06 5-6, 2-4 MAC Coached by Tracy Karr 2006-07 5-6, 2-4 MAC Coached by Steve Reyes 2007-08 5-11, 1-5 Landmark 3-10, 2-5 Landmark All-Landmark: Todd Adams, 1st Team Doubles Will Mallor, 1st Team Doubles 2008-09 6-9, 1-5 Landmark All-Landmark: Julia Lerner, 1st Team Singles Celsy Ehrgood, 2nd Team Singles 1-16, 1-6 Landmark 2009-10 8-6, 3-3 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Julia Lerner, 1st Team Singles 8-7, 3-4 Landmark All-Landmark: Richard Fitzsimmons, 2nd Team Singles 2010-11 9-4, 2-4 Landmark All-Landmark: Julia Lerner, 1st Team Singles Abigail Hess, 2nd Team Singles 8-6, 2-5 Landmark 2011-12 10-6, 4-2 Landmark Landmark Finalist All-Landmark: Coaching Staff of the Year Julia Lerner, 1st Team Singles Shelby O'Riley, 1st Team Singles Abigail Hess, 1st Team Doubles Shelby O'Riley, 1st Team Doubles 3-12, 2-5 Landmark 2012-13 10-5, 1-5 Landmark All-Landmark: Abigail Hess, 2nd Team Singles Shelby O'Riley, 2nd Team Singles Abigail Hess, 2nd Team Doubles Shelby O'Riley, 2nd Team Doubles 6-11, 2-5 Landmark 2013-14 6-9, 1-5 Landmark All-Landmark: Shelby O'Riley, 2nd Team Singles 3-14, 0-7 Landmark 2014-15 7-6, 1-6 Landmark 0-13, 0-8 Landmark 2015-16 6-11, 2-5 Landmark 5-12, 0-8 Landmark 2016-17 6-11, 0-7 Landmark 8-9, 1-6 Landmark 2017-18 Coached by Duke Fravel 10-6, 4-3 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Coaching Staff of the Year Alexander Dove, 2nd Team Singles 2018-19 Coached by Duke Fravel 13-5, 4-3 Landmark Landmark Tournament 2019-20 1-4 (Season shortened due to COVID-19) 5-1 (Season shortened due to COVID-19) 2020-21 4-6, 4-4 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Ashlynn Searer, 1st Team Singles 7-4, 5-3 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Emil Vyskocil, 1st Team Singles Joshua Sanderson, 2nd Team Singles 2021-22 6-9, 1-6 Landmark All-Landmark: Ashlynn Searer, 1st Team Singles 10-5, 5-2 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Emil Vyskocil, 1st Team Singles Joshua Sanderson, 2nd Team Singles 2022-23 3-12, 1-6 Landmark 6-8, 2-5 Landmark 2023-24 3-13, 0-8 Landmark 6-10, 2-7 Landmark 2024-25 5-9, 2-7 Landmark 9-6, 4-5 Landmark Landmark Tournament All-Landmark: Logan Rauschenberger, Rookie of the Year Logan Rauschenberger, 1st Team Singles Tyler Hester, 2nd Team Doubles Logan Rauschenberger, 2nd Team Doubles TOTAL 159-195 OVERALL 24-78 LANDMARK 3 LANDMARK TOURNAMENTS 15 ALL-LANDMARK SELECTIONS 111-155 OVERALL 39-87 LANDMARK 5 LANDMARK TOURNAMENTS 10 ALL-LANDMARK SELECTIONS 1 LANDMARK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
