Texas A&M International University Women's Volleyball

Tammie Jimenez is entering her second season at the helm of the TAMIU Volleyball program. In her first year leading the Dustdevils, she guided the team to a 9-16 overall record, including a 6-10 mark in Lone Star Conference play. Jimenez brought a wealth of experience to TAMIU, having launched her collegiate coaching career at Midland College in 2007. After three seasons as a full-time assistant, she was named head coach in 2010. She led Midland to a berth in the NJCAA Region 5 West Championship and helped her team earn a coveted spot in the 2010 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship tournament. A native of Alpine, Texas, Jimenez earned her Bachelor of Information Systems Management from St. Mary's University in San Antonio in 2003, followed by a Master of Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix in 2008. Her educational background, combined with her coaching experience, reflects her dedication to developing well-rounded student-athletes both academically and athletically.  

Flores is a Laredo native with 24 years of competitive Cheer experience and 13+ years of competitive Cheer Coaching experience. She is no stranger to the collegiate level of the cheer industry. Flores is part of the only 20 members at TAMIU to have earned a NCA National Champion Collegiate Title in 2014. Celina has earned two NCA National titles in both school and All-Star divisions, three Summit bids, and an All-Star Cheerleading Worlds bid.  Flores opened her own cheer gym, Karma Athletics, in 2018, where she has earned numerous National titles and works with nearly 200 athletes weekly. She has had the privilege to coach multiple Laredo schools. She's built a reputation for creating an enthusiastic winning environment, designing effective training methods, and going above and beyond to assure her athletes achieve their individual and season goals.  Throughout her career, she's demonstrated dedication, drive, and skill while coaching individual cheerleaders and teams. This is evident by her multiple National Titles in the Cheer Industry through the implementation of innovative and successful coaching methods. Celina prides herself on improving athlete's skills and teaching the importance of dedication and personal growth.   "I am excited to lead in developing a winning tradition through integrity, teamwork, and excellence in representing TAMIU and to contribute to continuing a winning tradition by devoting myself to the development of another winning team. I am thrilled to contribute my knowledge, training, and experience as a coach for the TAMIU Spirit program. Coach ZaQuae Downton brings a strong background in player development and competitive success to the program. She spent two years coaching at Yavapai College, where she helped guide the team to impressive winning records and back-to-back conference tournament appearances. During her tenure, she played a key role in supporting student-athletes both on and off the court, with several of her players graduating and transferring to NCAA Division I, Division II, and NAIA programs.   A former student-athlete herself, Coach Downton earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Union University, where she competed as a member of the volleyball team. She is passionate about developing well-rounded athletes, fostering academic achievement, and building competitive teams.
