Louie Bledsoe

Head Coach

Bledsoe is in his twelfth season as head golf coach for both men and women at Texas A&M University-Commerce. As the Lions head coach, Bledsoes teams have seen success on and off the field. In 2014, CJ Clem qualified for the NCAA Super-Regionals, ranking 24th in the South Central Region in Scoring average. He finished fourth at the LSC Golf championships, and was a First Team All-LSC performer. Kason Childress finished 7th in the LSC Golf Championships in 2012, and he and teammate Marcus Sanna were named All-LSC Honorable Mention. Childress and Sanna were named to the 1st Team LSC-Alll Academic Team. Additionally, both, as well as Cade Grimm, were named as GCAA All-American Scholars.  On the women's side, Katelyn McCreight was named to the LSC All-Academic First Team, and Emily Taylor and Zoey Daneshfar were each named WGCA All-American Scholars.  Aaron Cockerill and John Moug were named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2011, and Dustin Gideon was named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team in 2010. Danny Jun was named second team all-Lone Star Conference in 2010 and was named to the conference's Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2009. In 2010, Jun was announced as a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team. Pinkey Hartline became the third Lion in program history to win the individual title at the LSC Championships in 2008. He too was an all-tournament team selection in 2008 and was a second team All-LSC selection in 2009. Hagan Wood qualified for the NCAA Super Regionals in Vallejo, California and was named to the LSC All-Conference Second Team. The mens team has advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2007 and in 2009 and Blake Worden advanced as an individual in 2006 and in 2008. Worden earned honorable mention All-American honors in 2007 and was a three-time all-tournament team selection at the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Championships. Worden was named a first team LSC All-Conference selection in 2007 and 2008 and earned honorable mention accolades in 2009. Chantry McMahn qualified for the NCAA Divison II Super Regionals in 2014. Her scoring average was the 29th best in the nation with an average score of 76.19. She also won the UCO Classic beating a field of 98 players. The 2013-14 Women's golf team finished the year with a team average GPA of 3.726. The team was recognized by the WGCA for having the 16th highest team GPA in the nation. Sara Diaz and Holly Jenkins were named as WGCA All-America Scholars in 2012. Diaz has now received this honor three times, and Jenkins has been honored twice. Diaz was also named the 2012 LSC Academic Womens Golfer of the Year. In 2011, Chantry McMahan was named an All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention selection in addition to being named to the LSC All-Tournament team after posting a runner-up finish. Adi Attaway earned all-LSC in 2006 and 2007 and was named to the LSC All-Tournament Team in 2006. Several women have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, including Sara Diaz (2011), Megan Benites (2011), Malonie Oats (2010), and Christie Martin (2005 & 2006). Katie McCranie earned LSC All-Academic team recognition in 2005. Martin went on to be named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2005. Benites was a two-time honoree, accomplishing the feat in both 2009 and 2011, as she was joined last season by teammates Diaz, Holly Jenkins and Chelsea McCoy. Kathleen May and Malonie Oats were named to the Honor Roll in 2010. At the LSC Championships, in 2008 and 2005, the women finished third, in 2007, the men tied for third and in 2006, both the Lions mens and womens teams finished fourth. In addition to his golf coaching responsibilities, he is also involved with the game operations for home A&M-Commerce football and basketball games. Bledsoe retired as the director of parks and recreation for the city of Commerce in December 2003 after serving for six years. He was responsible for youth sports activities, senior adult activities, the city pool and maintenance of the citys parks and sports facilities. He came to Commerce in 1990 as principal of Commerce High School and retired in 1993 after a 33-year tenure in Texas public schools. Prior to coming to Commerce, Bledsoe served as principal of Cedar Hill High School. He also spent 24 years in the Dallas Independent School District as an elementary teacher, high school teacher and coach and assistant principal. Bledsoe's teams have finished in a tie for third at the Lone Star Conference Championships twice.  He served in the Texas Air National Guard for six years in the late 1950s. Bledsoe is active in the community as well, having served on the board of directors and board president of Sand Hills Golf and Country Club and as a radio analyst for CHS and A&M-Commerce football games on KETR-FM. He has also worked in sales at KGVL-AM and KIK-FM in Greenville. A native of Dallas, Bledsoe graduated from Adamson High School. He holds three degrees from the University of North Texas, earning his bachelors in health, physical education and recreation in 1960. He added a masters in education in 1964 and a doctorate of education in administrative leadership in 1974. Bledsoe married his high school sweetheart, the former Diane Dodson, in June 1960. They have three grown children, Lisa, Laurie and James, with four grandchildren, Caley, Shea, Delaina and Jacob. Buddy Jones

Assistant Coach

Jones is in his seventh season as a part-time assistant with the Texas A&M University-Commerce mens and womens golf team. In addition to his golf coaching responsibilities, he is also involved with the game operations for home A&M-Commerce football and basketball games.  Jones has received from A&M-Commerce his bachelors and masters degree as well as his administrators certificate. He worked in public education for 31 years and served as the boys and girls golf coach at Commerce HIgh School for several years prior to his retirement. After his retirement, he served as manager of Sand Hills Country Club for eight years.  He is married for the former Sarah Sheely and they have a son, Forrest and a daughter Sheely House.  Buddy Jones is in his seventh season as a part-time assistant with the Texas A&M University-Commerce mens and womens golf team.

Jaqueline Strickland

Assistant Coach

Strickland was named the graduate assistant coach for A&M-Commerce Lion Golf on July 28, 2015 after a successful collegiate career at Cameron University, where she led the team in scoring average four seasons and earned All-LSC recognition four times. Strickland joins head coach Dr. Louie Bledsoe and assistant coach Buddy Jones for the 2015-16 season and will assist Bledsoe and Jones in their efforts to capture an LSC crown.  "We are very happy to have her joing the golf coaching staff, and she will be working with both the men's and women's teams" Bledsoe said. "She has just completed a successful DII career at Cameron, and her experience and overall knowledge of the game of golf will be valuable as she can relate to the them. She knows what it takes to be successful at this level of collegiate golf."  Strickland's prior coaching experience includes three years as a youth golf camp assistant at Leonard's Golf Links in Fort Worth, Texas where she instructed and managed more than 15 students every year and helped create practice and teaching stations. Strickland also learned quite a lot during her time at Cameron, where she was named LSC Golfer of the Week four times and maintained a 3.0 GPA through her collegiate career.
