Head Coach

Wade Morgan enters his first year as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs at Texas Wesleyan University, bringing with him over a decade of collegiate coaching success, a national reputation for player development, and a record of transforming programs into championship-caliber teams. Morgan comes to Texas Wesleyan following eight seasons at Dallas Baptist University, where he led the Patriots to historic success each year. During his time at DBU, Morgan amassed 231 total wins between both teams and now holds 351 career collegiate head coaching victories. While each year presented much success, in his final season at DBU, Morgan led the DBU Women’s Tennis team to a program-best 23–4 record, capturing the program’s first-ever Lone Star Conference Championship and first-ever South-Central Regional Championship. The team also advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II National Tournament and reached a program-record National Ranking of No. 11. For his leadership, Morgan was named the 2025 ITA Division II National Women’s Coach of the Year and the ITA South Central Region Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. The DBU Men’s team also achieved a winning record in his final year as Head Coach. During his eight-year tenure at DBU, Morgan’s programs were synonymous with consistent success and steady growth. The DBU Women’s Tennis team recorded eight consecutive winning seasons, the men’s program had winning seasons 5 out of 8 years. Coach Morgan’s teams produced two NCAA All-Americans, 34 All-Conference selections, and eight ITA All-Scholar Academic Team honors, as well as a South-Central Regional Doubles Title. Both the men’s and women’s teams were also recognized for their service and impact off the court, earning the ITA South Central Region Community Service Award for three straight years. Morgan was also the first coach in DBU Tennis history to take multiple singles players and a doubles team to the prestigious ITA Cup Fall National Tournament for 4 years straight setting new benchmarks for the DBU program. Morgan was also named National Christian College Athletic Association’s National Coach of the Year after his women’s team won the NCCAA Team Championship in his first year at the helm of DBU’s Tennis Program. Prior to his years at DBU, Morgan served as Head Tennis Coach at Schreiner University (2011–2018), where he revitalized both tennis programs. His teams consistently improved in performance and achievement, garnering over 100 team wins highlighted by the women’s first SCAC Conference Finals appearance and the men’s highest regional ranking in program history. He was named SCAC Women’s Coach of the Year in 2014 for his team’s breakout run to the conference finals, the Schreiner men also achieved historic success in his final year as Head Coach, earning a West Regional Ranking of top 10 and landing players on the rankings as well. Overall, Morgan developed 40 All-Conference and 32 Academic All-Conference athletes during his time in Kerrville. Beyond the court, Morgan has been a committed mentor and leader in higher education. At Schreiner, he also served as a Residence Director, SAAC Advisor, and Athletics Compliance Officer.
