Nevaeh Ewing
Assistant Coach
Ewing is a 2025 Grove City College graduate. She was a player on the Grove City College women’s basketball team for four years and earned her Bachelors of Psychology Degree with an Exercise Science minor from Grove City. Nevaeh graduated from Knoch High School in Saxonburg, PA and is currently working toward her degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Thiel College.

Kaitlyn Schmidt '25
Assistant Coach
Kaitlyn Schmidt '25 was hired as Assistant Cheer Coach in July 2025. Schmidt brings a strong combination of leadership, cheer experience and educational excellence to the role. During her four years on the Tomcats cheer team, Schmidt served as team captain, helping lead the program to new heights and a national championship in the National Cheerleaders Assocation (NCA) College Nationals in 2023, as well as a runner-up finish in the same division in 2022. The Tomcats also logged third-place national finishes in 2024 and 2025. "Kaitlyn was a cornerstone of our cheer program during her time as a student," Burnett said. "Her passion for the program and leadership experience will be a strong asset to our team." Schmidt's professional experience extends beyond Thiel, having worked as staff for the NCA, where she led instructional camps and coordinated team-building activities with athletes from across the region. She also served as an assistant instructor at M&M Dance Academy in Monroeville, Pa. "I'm incredibly excited and honored to return to Thiel in this role," Schmidt said. "I look forward to helping our student-athletes grow not just in their sport, but as leaders and individuals." In addition to her athletic background, Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a Secondary Education Certificate. She was recently hired as a high school math teacher at Mercer High School. She was a standout student in the Dietrich Honors Institute, earning Dean's List honors for eight consecutive semesters.

Cameron Austin '25
Assistant Coach
Cameron Austin '25 was named Women's Basketball assistant coach in August 2025. Austin was a three-year starter at Bradford High School in Bradford, Pa. There, her served as team captain his junior and senior seasons. Austin served as a Men's Volleyball manager last season before earning a spot on the active roster in the stretch run of the season. He was active on campus, serving in key posts with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) since his sophomore year. Austin also helped train and teach basketball skills to youth children at Bradford YMCA.

Chris Rubino
Assistant Coach
While pursuing his MSPA at Thiel College, Rubino will be assisting the Thiel College Women’s Basketball Team as a Student Volunteer Coach, primarily working with power forwards and centers. Before joining the Tomcats, Rubino graduated from Allegheny College with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Spanish, where he was a proud member of the Honors Program and graduated Cum Laude. During his time at Allegheny, Chris also excelled on the football field as a defensive lineman. He was a student-athlete representative for Allegheny’s football team at PAC Media Day (2022). He earned Second Team All-NCAC (2021) as a sophomore and All-PAC Honorable Mention (2022) honors as a junior, and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week (Sept. 24, 2022). In 20 career games, he racked up 103 tackles, including 47 solo, and 11.5 tackles for a loss. After medically retiring from football following his junior year, Chris transitioned into coaching and served as a student assistant for the Allegheny College Women’s Basketball Team during the 2023–2024 season. In this role, he worked closely with power forwards and centers, helping the Gators secure and host their first home postseason playoff game since 2016.
