Malcolm Hosford

Head Coach

Hosford is entering into his second year as Thomas Universitys Head Swim Coach.  Originally, Hosford was named the interim coach in November 2013 and moved into the full-time role at the end of the season.   Prior to his tenure at Thomas, Hosford served as the Aquatic Director at the Capital City Country Club from 2008-2014.  Hosford, who owns and operates the Hosford Swim School in Tallahassee, Fla., also served in several coaching capacities throughout the Leon County, Fla., area.  He spent 2008 as the Head Swim Coach at Lincoln High School, 2009 as the Head Swim Coach at Leon High School, and 2013 as the Assistant Swim Coach at Chiles High School.  In 2013, Chiles womens team won the FHSSA State title.   During his collegiate swimming career, Hosford spent two years as a varsity letter winner for Auburn University.  During his two seasons as a Tiger, Hosford was named to the NCAA All-American team, All-SEC team, and was a two-time SEC Team champion (200 free and 800 free relay).  Hosford is a two-time Olympic Qualifier (2000 and 2012) and is a two-time national record holder.  In 2000, Hosford was a member of Auburns NCAA Division I National Championship runner-up team.   In 1999, Hosford was voted Swimmer of the Year by USS Swimming, the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association, and SPEEDO.   Currently, Hosford resides in Tallahassee, Fla.

Ziegler brings an impressive background as both a high-level athlete and coach. A former U.S. National Team member, he competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and represented the United States internationally through the National Junior Team and Junior Pan Pacific Team programs. One of Florida's most accomplished swimmers, Ziegler earned Florida Male Swimmer of the Year honors and won multiple Florida state championships during his standout prep career. At the University of Alabama, Ziegler was a four-year varsity swimmer who established himself among the Crimson Tide's top performers in program history. He qualified for the NCAA Championships, earned multiple SEC Championship finals appearances, and helped set several school records. During his career, he became Alabama's record holder in the 200 backstroke and was part of multiple record-setting relay teams. He was also recognized for his academic achievements as a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Following his collegiate swimming career, Ziegler remained involved in the sport as an Undergraduate Assistant Swimming Coach at Alabama, where he assisted with training plans and daily practices for distance and middle-distance swimmers. He later served as Head Age Group Coach for Pipeline Swimming in the Tampa Bay area, overseeing programs at multiple locations and working with swimmers of all ages and abilities. His coaching experience includes competitive swimmer development, private instruction, triathlon training, and adaptive swimming programs.
