Austin Selby

Head Coach

Selby assisted Caroline Hampton to her second consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference individual championship, a performance that met national qualifications. Selby and Hampton represented Trevecca for the first time on the national stage. Both teams also finished second in the conference championship.   Selby saw the cross country program through its first participation in a NCAA Division II regional event during the 2014-15 season. He also guided Caroline Hampton to her first Great Midwest Athletic Conference individual championship.   Selby came to Trevecca after spending the a year at Arlington (Tenn.) High School near Memphis, Tenn. There he coached Tigers boys' cross country as well as track and field. He coached the cross country team to its first-ever Region 7AAA Championship. Despite having a depleted roster, the team finished in the top 20. The track team finished 11th at the 2013 TSSAA Championships including a runner-up finish in the 4x200 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. The team had three other top 10 finishes. Five of Selby's athletes signed  athletic scholarships for the coming year.   Following his hiring Selby expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Trevecca family: "This is exciting for me and an honor to be a part of a rapidly rising program, at a university that strives to develop the personal integrity of its athletes, as well as provide support for them to become the most competitive team out there."   Selby coached the Independence High School (Thompson Station, Tenn.)  boys' track and field team in 2012. He was hired a week before the season started, and despite the short preparation, the Eagles proved successful for first-time coach. Selby was a quick study, learning TSSAA rules as well as prep-level coaching. The result was a 5th place finish at the 2013 TSSAA State Championships and a TSSAA State Championship in the 4x800 meter relay. Four of his athletes earned  scholarships. The team produced four other top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the 400 meter distance.    Selby's running history is impressive too. He ran for Centennial High School (Franklin, Tenn.), qualifying for the TSSAA State Cross Country meet twice. His personal best marathon time is a 2:49:06 at the New York City Marathon. After surviving being hit by an out-of- control 70-mph car, he returned to run a 3:02:32 marathon time. His success and experience has made him a sought-after private marathon coach.    For seven years he worked for Campus Crusade for Life out of Orlando, Fla. His work included a year on staff in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan.   His experience includes working as a course director for the St. Jude Marathon.    He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Memphis with a bachelor of arts in history. He will complete his master's of teaching in secondary education this fall. In 2011 he completed his United States Track and Field Coaching Certification. In 2013 he finished his USTF Coaching Level-ll Endurance Certification.   Selby and is wife reside in Nashville with their six children - McCaden, David, Jonathan, Sadie, Gray, and Helena. Dsida joins the coaching staff for his first season after two years coaching at Belmont University, two years coaching at Dominican and four years as an athlete at Colorado College. As a coach, Dsida was a graduate assistant at Belmont for the 2014-15 season after volunteering during the 2013-14 season. Working closest with the women's middle distance runners, Dsida led four runners to All-OVC performances and three school records. At Dominican, he led the team to the second fastest 6k time in school history. During his time at Colorado College, Dsida ran both cross country and track. He clocked a school record 800m (1:52.69), three second place all-conference finishes in the 800m, and participated in the XC Nationals his senior year. Dsida graduated from Colorado College ('11) with a degree in Mathematical Economics and a minor in Art History. He received his Master's of Sports Administration from Belmont University ('15). Hubbard joins the coaching staff fresh off the track from University of Colorado in Boulder where she received her degree in Mechanical Engineering with a certificate in Biomedical Engineering. With experience running at the high school and collegiate level, Hubbard looks to help our runners find the balance between hard work in the classroom and on the course. Hubbard has one year of high school coaching under her belt. She worked with the hurdlers at Centaurus High School in Lafeyette, CO. She also spent the summer of 2014 coaching tack and softball at Sports Camp of America in Tokyo, Japan. As a Division I runner, Hubbard specialized in the 400m hurdles and 800m run. She competed in the Big-12 and PAC-12 Track and Field Championships.
