Assistant Coach

Worley spent on the bench. Kilgore won the 14-team Region XIV regular season title outright in 2012-13 finishing 27-6 (15-4 in conference) en route to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance and Sweet-16 finish.   Prior to his time in East Texas, Worley was an assistant coach to former NBA and collegiate stand-out Todd Day with the Arkansas Impact based out of Little Rock, Ark. As members of the Premier Basketball League (PBL), the Impact won the Western Division of the pro league and advanced to the championship game of the 2008 PBL Playoffs before falling to the Rochester Razorsharks.   In 2006-07 Worley was an assistant to current Mercer mens basketball head coach Bob Hoffman in the American Basketball Association (ABA) with the Arkansas Aeros. The Springdale, Ark., based team finished that season 25-2 and won the South Division of the White Conference. The Aeros stayed atop the 41-team leagues rankings for 12 straight weeks during the year. Arkansas led the league in scoring average at 133 points per game.   In 2005-06 Worley was an assistant coach for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and Jeremy Cox. The Lions won the Bi-State Conference Tournament and then proceeded to win the NJCAA National Title in Hutchinson, Kan., defeating Tallahassee Community College 68-59. UAFS concluded the year with a 33-3 overall record.   Prior to embarking on his coaching career, Worley played at Coffeyville Community College, Creighton and University of Denver, accumulating over 1,100 points in his collegiate years.   At Coffeyville Community College, Worley was named the first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Male Athlete of the Year in 1993, averaging 18.1 points per game, and 2.1 rebounds per contest, shooting 87 percent from the charity stripe.   As a student-athlete in the Jayhawk East Conference, Worley was named to the All-JayHawk Conference first-team, and was a NJCAA Academic All-American, while he lead his team to the Region 6 semifinals in 1993.   After two standout years at Coffeyville, Worley accepted a scholarship to Creighton. After one season with the Bluejays, Worley transferred and finished his college career at the University of Denver.   Worley was named to the deans honor roll three times as he earned his bachelors degree in mass communications, whilst minoring in philosophy, at Denver as he played for Dick Perth in his final season.   Prior to his collegiate career, Worley wrapped up his prep career as the third all-time leading scorer in Colorados state history with 2,369 points. Worley was a four-time all-conference member, three-time all-state member and a two-time 2A player of the year by the Denver Post.  Worley continued to show promise as he led his team to the Colorado 2A state title in 1990.   Mike, a Colorado native,  has been married to wife, Sarah, for 11 years. The couple have three children: Raeghan, Rachel and Drew.
