Tusculum University Women's Cheerleading

Canaan Loope was promoted as Tusculum University's head spirit coordinator in May 2025. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Tusculum cheerleading and dance programs. He joined the Tusculum Spirit staff in 2023 where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons. He also serves as a Graduate Enrollment Representative working in the admissions department at Tusculum. Canaan, an East Tennessee native, has coached in various roles over the last five years, from East Coast Cheer & Tumble Assistant Coach to Tri-Star Stunting Coach and Tri-cities Area Director. Loope is a King University and University of Tennessee graduate, earning a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters in Kinesiology: Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior. He was also a member of each school’s cheer team during his time as a student, cheering three years at King, before graduating and cheering at Tennessee for two years while completing his graduate degree. While at UT, Canaan competed in UCA D1A Game Day and Traditional routines and won a Game Day National Championship (2021).    

Meagan "Liz" Carlson joined the Tusculum University Spirit Squad staff ahead of the 2025-26 season. Carlson is a two-time graduate of Tusculum. She finished her bachelors in mathematics (7-12) with a management minor in 2015, with her MBA coming the following winter. During her time on campus, Carlson was a five-year member of the cheerleading squad, including three years as a captain. Carlson is entering her 11th year as a math teacher and head cheerleading coach at Chuckey-Doak High School. She has volunteered numerous hours around the community, aiding with Make A Wish 5Ks, Tusculum's Pack the Park, Greene Goes Pink 5K, Doak Elementary and Chuckey-Doak Middle School cheerleading, Tusculum's Spirit Squad, Gift for Kids, Jogging for Jess 5K, Towering Oak Fall Festival, and Hurricane Helene supplies.

Hannah Loope joined the Tusculum Spirit Squad staff in the fall of 2024. Loope has spent the majority of her professional career in education. She has worked in summer and after school programs in the Greene County school system and was a preschool teaching assistant at Cedar Bluff Elementary. Loope has been a teacher at Baileyton Elementary School since August 2022. Loope is a local product, graduating from Greeneville High School. She continued her education at King, earning a degree in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in elementary education. Loope cheered for the Tornado from 2018-21 and was a member of both the Dean's and President's Lists. She graduated summa cum laude. Loope (née Brown) is married to head coach Canaan Loope.
