Sade Ayinde
Head Coach
On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the University at Albany announced the hiring of Sade Ayinde as the next head coach of the Great Danes’ women’s soccer program. Ayinde is the 14th women’s soccer head coach in program history, and eighth in the Division I era. 2024 marks Ayinde's third season as head coach. In 2025, Sade Ayinde led the Great Danes to a 2-13-2 overall record and a 1-7-0 mark in America East play, continuing to guide the program through a competitive conference schedule while integrating a young roster into key roles. UAlbany was highlighted by the development of its freshman class, as resdhirt freshman Claudia Volino and Tamia Nelson both earned America East All-Rookie Team honors following strong debut seasons. Volino started all 17 matches in goal and led the America East in saves and minutes played, providing a consistent presence throughout the year, while Nelson contributed offensively with key goals in conference play to help anchor the Great Danes’ attack. The 2024 season saw UAlbany finish 3-12-1 overall and 2-5-1 in America East play, as the Great Danes remained competitive. UAlbany delivered several strong conference performances and continued to develop defensively, staying in multiple one-goal matchups across the season. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman led the team and earned America East Second Team All-Conference, All-Rookie Team, and All-Academic Team honors after a standout season in which she ranked among the nations leaders in saves and minutes played, providing stability in net for the Great Danes. In 2023, Ayinde guided UAlbany to a 4-10-2 overall record and a 1-5-2 mark in America East play while continuing to establish a foundation for the program moving forward. The team showed growth throughout the season. UAlbany was highlighted by two America East All-Conference selections following the season. Selma Elverum earned Second Team All-Conference honors, with Sydney Kofton recording All-Rookie honors and Charlotte Takacy being named to the America East All-Academic Team. In Ayinde’s first season, the Great Danes returned to the America East semifinal round, falling in penalty kicks to top-seed Binghamton. UAlbany posted a record of 7-8-5 in Ayinde’s first year at the helm. After being held scoreless in its first four games, the Great Danes scored 26 goals over its final 16, led by freshman Emily Jozak’s seven. Jozak was named America East Rookie of the Year after ranking tied for fourth in the conference in goals scored. Selma Elverum joined Jozak on the America East All-Rookie team, and three Great Danes, Olivia Piraino, Carly Binn, and Mariza Tava, earned All-Conference Second Team honors. Ayinde joined UAlbany from her previous position as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Yale University. Joining the Bulldogs in January, 2019, Ayinde focused her instructive efforts with the strikers and midfielders while heading up the Bulldogs’ domestic and international recruiting program. At Yale, she coached Aerial Chavarin, a 2020 NWSL draft pick and the 2019 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. Ayinde’s time at Yale overlapped with her role as a Youth National Team Scout for U.S. Soccer. Starting in September 2017, Ayinde was assigned scouting duties for the Northeast region with a focus on New York and New Jersey. Before joining the staff at Yale, Ayinde spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Stony Brook, where she worked primarily with the Seawolves’ defenders and goalkeepers. Over her three seasons with the Seawolves, the team won one America East title, in 2017. She was part of the 2016 staff that was named America East Coaching Staff of the Year, and she coached 11 players who earned America East All-Conference honors. Beyond her work with the US National Team, Ayinde's extracollegiate coaching experience extends to the Olympic Development Program, for which she has worked since 2015. She was head coach of the Connecticut GU14 from 2019-21, and an assistant coach of the Eastern New York South GU12 the three years before that. Ayinde’s coaching career began in August, 2012, when she assumed the head coaching position at East Meadow Soccer Club, a position she held for more than six years. During her time with East Meadow, Ayinde was head coach of three teams: the Girls 2000 NPL team from 2016-19, the Girls 2000 ENCL team from 2015-16, and the Girls 2006 teams from 2015-17. She was also assistant coach for the GU16 ECNL from 2015-16, and coach of the developmental academy for youth players ages six to nine. Ayinde was a standout striker at the University of Maryland, where in 79 appearances over four seasons she scored 16 goals and recorded 17 assists, including her highlight junior season where she scored 10 goals with seven assists. Ayinde’s Terrapins advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 in 2011 and 2009, and to the NCAA Round of 32 in 2010. In 2008, following her rookie season, she was named to the Soccer Buzz All-Mid-Atlantic Freshman Team. After college, Ayinde toured the professional circuit, playing for the New York Magic and the Long Island Rough Riders of the W-League, as well as oversees in Sweden for Kopparberg/Göteborg FC and IF Brommapojkarna. Before enrolling at Maryland, Ayinde was a member of the United States Youth National Pool for the U14, U16, U17, U18, and U20 teams. She was also, in 2007, named to the NSCAA/adidas Girls Youth All-America team. Professionally, Ayinde was selected as a member of the WeCoach Mentorship Program, and was one of 15 women named to the NCSAA’s 30 under 30 for the 2016-17 class. She holds professional certifications in Scouting, Goalkeeper Training, and Personal Training, among others.

Chance Hendricks
Assistant Coach
On April 9, 2026, the University at Albany women’s soccer program and head coach Sade Ayinde announced the hiring of Chance Hendricks as the program’s newest assistant coach. Hendricks spent the past two seasons at Westminster College as a graduate assistant under head coach Girish Thakar, joining the Titans’ staff in August 2024. She played an integral role in the program’s success, helping lead the team to the 2024 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Regular Season Championship. Hendricks contributed across all areas of the program, with primary responsibilities in recruiting, player development, scouting, and operations. She led all recruiting efforts, coordinating on- and off-campus evaluations, managing recruiting schedules, and organizing campus visits. Her work in talent identification and relationship-building helped strengthen the program’s pipeline and overall roster quality. On the sideline, Hendricks was instrumental in player development, mentoring goalkeeper, Morgan Murphy, the PAC Defensive Player of the Year and contributing to the growth of eight All-Conference selections. She worked closely with student-athletes to enhance technical execution and tactical understanding, while also leading opponent scouting and film breakdown to inform match preparation and game strategy. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Hendricks was selected to participate in two nationally recognized leadership development opportunities in 2025. With the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, she was one of 200 young professionals chosen across NCAA institutions to work and learn directly from the NCAA national staff. Through WeCoach Academy, she was selected to be a part of the 55th class of the WeCoach Mentorship Program which focuses on the advancement and mentorship of women in coaching. Prior to her coaching career, Hendricks was a three-year letterwinner and starter at Marist College, where she appeared in 32 matches and made 27 starts as a midfielder and defender. She was also a member of the Ladies Empowering Athletics Program (LEAP), a leadership initiative focused on personal and professional development. A native of Dublin, Pennsylvania, Hendricks earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Marist College in May 2024 and is set to earn her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Westminster College in May 2026.
