Allen Sharpe

Head Coach

Allen Sharpe enters his first season as head coach of the UAH women's basketball program.   Sharpe becomes the 13th head coach in UAH women’s basketball program history after leading both the Wallace State men’s and women’s teams most recently in 2023-24.   His teams at Wallace State combined for three All-ACCC honorees this season, as the men’s team won the ACCC Division I tournament and the women’s squad were runners-up. His men’s squad also made it to the second round of the 2024 NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.   In a career that spans 22 years, Sharpe owns a record of 496-210 following a 25-6 record with Wallace State’s women’s squad this season to go along with a 26-9 mark on the men’s side.   Prior to returning to Wallace State in 2020 where he was previously head coach from 2005-10, Sharpe led NCAA Division II men’s programs Arkansas-Monticello from 2010-14 and West Alabama from 2014-20 with a career record of 178-114 between the two stints.   He achieved 20 or more wins in four seasons at the Division II level, while reaching the NCAA tournament twice with West Alabama. At UAM, Sharpe was the first-ever coach to achieve four consecutive winning seasons in program history.   Overall, Sharpe has guided his teams to 13 seasons with 20 wins or more.   He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Piedmont College, following a collegiate playing career at Lipscomb under legendary head coach Don Meyer from 1995-2000. Sharpe scored 1,431 career points for one of the most successful basketball programs in the nation during the 1990s.   Sharpe and his wife, Susan, who also played basketball at Lipscomb, are the parents of three children – Garrison, Ally and Anderson.

Kyle Overstreet

Associate Head Coach

Kyle Overstreet joined the UAH coaching staff in 2024-25 after most recently serving as Head Girls Basketball Coach at St. John Paul II Catholic High School. He holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Alabama, specializing in Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Coaching. As Assistant Coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, he helped lead the team to a record-setting season and an NCAA tournament appearance, focusing on defensive strategy and skill development. Previously as Head Girls Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at St. John Paul II Catholic High School, he led the team to multiple championships and set school win records. He additionally had earlier success as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Westminster Christian Academy, which included a 4A State Championship.

Dr. Jen Cole

Coach

Dr. Jen Cole joined the UAH Athletics leadership team ahead of the 2024-25 academic year with her promotion to Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Affairs and Senior Woman Administrator Overall, Cole is in her 12th year at UAH, joining the Chargers as an athletic trainer in January of 2012 before becoming assistant volleyball coach in 2018. She joined the department's administration in a new role as Assistant Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Development in January 2021. In addition to several compliance related improvements, Cole has spearheaded the modernization of the department through compliance software, generating better flow of internal communications between student-athletes, coaches and administrators.   A native of Pennsylvania, Cole leads UAH's efforts in NCAA compliance rules education and regulation, while overseeing student-athlete development programming. She also serves as the sponsor for Student-Athlete Mentors and the UAH Volleyball Club while assisting the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Cole is also a member of the university’s Staff Senate.   In her academic career, Cole received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Pittsburgh-Bradford in 2009 followed by a graduate assistantship at Edinboro where she earned her Master’s in Exercise Science with a concentration in fitness and wellness in 2010. She completed her Doctorate in Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2019. Her research investigated the role of student-athlete development at the Division II level.   She has gone on to garner certifications as a NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist, NASM corrective exercise specialist, and NASM fitness and nutrition specialist. Cole has been an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology at UAH since 2012. She is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance,  the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals, and an affiliate member of the National Collegiate Director of Athletics Association.
