Mike Pearce
Head Coach
Pearce as novice rowers. In 1998 Mike switched to the men's program and since then they have won multiple national medals in all boat classes, as well as a Head of the Charles Championship (4+), the Canadian University Rowing Championship Title in 2005, the Royal Canadian Henley regatta, San Diego Crew Classic, and multiple Brown Cups. Six novice male rowers under MIke have made the Canadian National Rowing Team, two of which are now three-time World Champions and Olympic Gold Medalists. A National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) level 4 rowing coach, Mike has been awarded the University Coach of the Year (2005 & 2013), Rowing Canada Award for Coaching Excellence (2012), and was the recipient of Her Majesty the Queen's Royal Golden Jubilee Award for Coaching Excellence. In addition to coaching Mike provided vision and leadership in the creation of the John MS Lecky UBC Boathouse. Mike rowed for UBC from 1991-1995 while earning his Bachelor of Human Kinetics (1995). He was named the hardest working athlete in 1994 and won the Royal Canadian Henley. He and his wife Christine live in Vancouver with their two sons, Liam and Owen.
