J.D. Martin
Coach
Martin, who directed the University of Oklahoma to national prominence during a lenghty career with the Sooners. Martin took over the UCO reigns in April of 2004 and led the Bronchos to top-four Lone Star Conference finishes six times in seven years, highlighted by a runner-up showing in his first year en route to winning league Coach of the Year honors. J.D. coached six All-LSC performers during UCO's time in the LSC. Martin also serves as an assistant coach with the womens track and field program that resuming competing in 2010, working with distance runners and sprinters. A native of Erick and a graduate of OU, Martin served as track and field/cross country coach for the Sooners for 33 years (1964-97) and was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He coached 22 individual track and field national champions and countless Big Eight and Big 12 winners at OU, leading the Sooners to six top-five national finishes. J.D. coached two future Olympic gold medalists (Jason Rouser and Roxbert Martin) at OU. Martin was a three-time All-American in the pole vault while competing at OU, winning the national title in 1960. He once owned the world record in the pole vault and was a gold medalist in the decathlon at the 1963 Pan American Games. J.D. is married (Delma) and has two children (Stan and Mandy) and five grandchildren.

Dr Martha Brennan

Brennan, a former NCAA Division II All-American with coaching experience on the Division I and III levels who serves as Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. Brennan is the head coach for the indoor and outdoor track teams while also overseeing the cross country program coached by J.D. Martin. Brennan came to UCO in 2009 after a highly-successful five-year tenure as head mens and womens coach at Wisconsin-River Falls during which she led the womens team to the 2008 NCAA Division III national championship. The Bronchos resumed competing on a limited basis in the spring of 2010 after an eight-year hiatus, then had one outdoor All-American in 2011, '12 and '14 and one indoor All-American in 2013. Martha coached UCO's first-ever Division II outdoor national champion in 2016 when Mariah Garcia captured the discus title while also qualifiying for the United States Olympic Trails. A five-time Division II All-American while competing at the University of South Dakota, Brennan finished her career at Louisiana State and helped the Tigers capture back-to-back Division I national titles in 1994 and 95. She competed in the 1996 Olympic Trails as a heptathlete and was a member of the USA National Track & Field team in 1997 before going to the University of Iowa as an assistant coach in 1997. Brennan moved on to Texas A&M later that year as an assistant coach and spent seven years working with the Aggies, helping the men to the 2001 Big 12 championship. She coached men and women in the heptathlon, decathlon and pole vault, coaching the 2002 Big 12 womens pole vault champion and several national qualifiers in those events. Brennan took over at UW-River Falls in 2004 and spent five years there, coaching dozens of Division III All-Americans for the men and women and capping her stay with the 2008 national title. Martha earned her undergraduate degree in mathematics from LSU in 1995, her masters degree in educational administration from LSU in 1996 and her PhD in education administration from Texas A&M in 2006. Brennan is married (Bob) and has four children (Grace, Eve, Ivy and Bella).
