University of Central Oklahoma Women's Soccer

Amel Muhamedagic is the head women's soccer coach at Central Oklahoma and is in his 19th year working with the program that has won well over 300 games and is a regular contender on the national stage. Muhamedagic was named just the second head coach in program history prior to the 2023 season, taking over the position officially in 2024 after spending the previous 17 seasons assisting the program. He was hired as an assistant coach in 2007, named Associate Head Coach in August 2021, then head coach in waiting in 2023. In his first season as head coach, Muhamedagic led Central Oklahoma to a 12-7-4 record and a fourth-place finish in the MIAA. The Bronchos then won two games in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship, including a victory over the top-seeded Washburn Ichabods. The Bronchos finished runners-up in the postseason tournament.  UCO qualified for the national tournament for the 16th time in school history in Muhamedagic's first season in charge. The Bronchos were the No. 4 seed in the Central Region, advanced on PKs in a scoreless draw with Washburn, and made it to the Central Region semifinal.  Muhamedagic has played a key role in keeping UCO among the NCAA Division II elite, having helped the Bronchos win 223 matches over the last 18 seasons with 11 NCAA Division II national tournament appearances (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024). Amel is involved in all facets of program including recruiting, on field training, academic progress, scouting and game preparation. In 2007, Muhamedagic’ s first year with the program, he guided the back line and goalkeeper Carly Fisher to 13 shutouts while allowing one goal in going a perfect 10-0 and capturing the regular season Lone Star Conference title. In 2009, Muhamedagic coached goalkeeper Megan Riley and the back line to 13 shutouts and another LSC championship. In 2012, Muhamedagic helped guide the Bronchos to a runner-up finish in their first year of competition in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. In 2014, Amel led the way as the Bronchos register a school-record 15 shutouts in making another Division II national tournament appearance. He helped guide the Bronchos to one of the best seasons in school history in 2018. Central won a school record 22 games, had a school record 16-game win streak, and the Bronchos' 16-0 start is also the best start in school history. Central made it to the NCAA Championship Round of 16 and had nine All-MIAA selections, seven All-Region selections, and three All-Americans.  In 2019, Muhamedagic helped Central to a second consecutive MIAA postseason tournament championship and another NCAA tournament appearance, finishing the year 14-5-3. Central's 2020 season was canceled due to the pandemic. The Bronchos did play an unofficial spring season in 2021 to make up for lost time and did win the MIAA title for the third year in a row.  In 2021, Muhamedagic helped Central to a 13-5-3 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the MIAA standings. UCO made an appearance in the 2021 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship semifinals and earned an at-large bid to the national tournament for the ninth time with Muhamedagic on the sidelines. Central Oklahoma went back to the national tournament in 2022 and posted an 11-5-4 overall record. Muhamedagic was key in guiding the Bronchos to the postseason yet again as five All-MIAA honors rolled in along with two All-Region selections. UCO went 6-7-6 in 2023, reaching the MIAA Soccer Championship Quarterfinals. Muhamedagic helped coach two All-MIAA picks and two All-Region selections following the season. Amel has helped coach 73 All-Conference selections, almost 50 All-Region and nine All-Americans while with UCO. Muhamedagic came to UCO after three years at Mount Mercy University in Iowa.  His 2005 team set a school record for wins. Amel led Waterloo (Iowa) High School in goals for three straight years and then played two years for Northern Iowa, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNI. Muhamedagic has been involved with Oklahoma Olympic Development Program and Region III Program. He is also involved with the Oklahoma Football Club, the largest soccer club in Oklahoma. He has served as staff coach for the boys and girls since 2008, with his teams having won numerous state cups and qualified to regional tournaments. Muhamedagic holds Premier License from National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA highest distinction from this organization), “A” license from United States Soccer Federation (USSF highest distinction from this organization), National Youth License (USSF), and National Goalkeeping License (NSCAA). Amel, a native of Bosnia, is married (Cynthia) and has three daughters (Mia, Leila and Ella) and one son (Kyler). 

Jovan Petrovic joined the University of Central Oklahoma soccer program in 2024 and serves as assistant coach. In his first season, Petrovic helped UCO make a run at the MIAA Championship. UCO finished runners-up in the league's postseason championship and qualified for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship, where Central advanced to the Central Regional semifinals.  Petrovic came to UCO from Tulsa, where he has spent the previous two years as co-Technical Director and coach at the Tulsa Soccer Club. Petrovic spent one season prior to that coaching at Booker T. Washington High School (2021). He was an assistant coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, Oklahoma from 2018-20. He helped the team put together a 46-15-5 overall record in three seasons, including a 20-4-0 mark in 2019 when they made the national tournament. Petrovic coached two All-Americans, two conference MVPs, and three defensive players of the year in the KCAC. OKWU was also national runners-up in 2018 at the NCCAA national tournament.    Petrovic played for OKWU and was an NAIA All-American during his college career. He received his bachelor’s degree in general business in 2018 and his master’s degree in marketing in 2020, both from Oklahoma Wesleyan.
