Daniel Smee
Head Coach
Coach Smee has been a part of the Golden Eagles Men’s Soccer Program since 2017. From the fall of 2017 to fall of 2019 he was an Assistant Coach before being promoted to Head Coach in January 2020. He has won two NCAA Division II National Championships, four Regional Championships, eight Mountain East Conference Regular Season Championships, and eight MEC Tournament Championships. He has also won MEC Coach of the Year five times, was part of the National and Regional Staff of the Year in 2017, and Regional Staff of the Year in 2023 and 2025. Coach Smee is the Mountain East Conference Men’s Soccer representative and the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region representative for the United Soccer Coaches Connection and completed his three-year service on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee from 2021-2023. He has both his US Soccer C and English FA Level Two licenses and even has an English Level Seven referee license. A native of North Shields, England, he played soccer professionally for Scottish Premier League club Gretna FC from 2006-2008. He went on to win a National Championship with Tyne Metropolitan College in 2009 before pursuing a collegiate career in the USA. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he was a three-year captain, eight-time representative on the Dean’s List, All-American, All-Region, and All-Conference. Following his graduation from WVWC, Smee began his coaching career at Slippery Rock University. He went on to coach at Less-McRae College and West Virginia Wesleyan College before arriving in Charleston. Coach Smee is the winningest coach in UC Men’s Soccer History with 107 wins and 22 championship trophies.

Mohammad Rad
Assistant Coach
Mohammad Rad is a UEFA B-licensed soccer coach with over 14 years of experience developing players in both Germany and the United States. He currently serves as the Head Soccer Coach at the German International School in Potomac, MD, leading boys’ and girls’ teams from middle school through high school. A former semi-professional player in Germany, Mohammad played for clubs including FC Aldekerk, GSV Geldern, FC Italia 1998, SV Oppum, Preußen Krefeld, and Metro Tehran. His firsthand experience on the field gives him a deep understanding of the game, which he brings into every training session. Mohammad is passionate about player development, both technically and tactically. He creates a positive and inclusive environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential—on and off the field. His coaching philosophy emphasizes structure, discipline, creativity, and joy in the game. Dedicated to continuous growth, Mohammad regularly attends international coaching congresses and is working toward his UEFA A license. He speaks Persian, German, and English fluently, and is conversational in Arabic and Turkish—allowing him to connect with players and families from a wide range of backgrounds. He lives in Vienna, VA, with his wife and daughter—both loyal soccer fans—and together they follow leagues and teams around the world.

Adeoye Olumuyiwa
Assistant Coach
Adeoye Olumuyiwa (Ade) is in his first season with the Golden Eagles. Born in Nigeria, West Africa, he moved to England at the age of five and grew up in East London. Ade played non-league football in England while completing his undergraduate degree in Sport Studies and Psychology at Southampton Solent University. He competed until the age of 26, representing clubs such as Weymouth, Farnborough, Poole Town, and AFC Totton. He later pursued an opportunity in Florida, moving to the Sunshine State as a student-athlete at Nova Southeastern University, where he played as a center-back for two years and completed his Master’s in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media. In his final year, Ade captained his college team and earned First Team All-Conference honors. Following his playing career, Ade transitioned into coaching and is now serving as an assistant soccer coach here at UC. He is eager to continue developing as a coach while learning from Head Coach Daniel Smee and the rest of the Golden Eagles’ coaching staff.

Corbin Bowers

The University of Charleston Men's Soccer Program is delighted to announce the hiring of Corbin Bowers as their new Assistant Coach. Corbin arrives at UC from Corban University in Oregon, where he was Head Men's Soccer Coach. Prior to Corban University, Corbin coached at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and his alma mater, Anderson University. Corbin also coached in the NPSL for MedCity FC out of Rochester, MN. Born in Quito, Ecuador, and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Bowers grew up in South America until attending Anderson University. Corbin holds multiple coaching licenses and strength and conditioning certifications and is conversational in multiple languages.

Corbin Bowers
Assistant Coach
Corbin Bowers was hired as the University of Charleston Men's Soccer Assistant Coach in April of 2024. He brings to the program eleven total seasons of collegiate coaching including seven as a head coach. During his second season as lead assistant, the program went undefeated in the 2025 regular season for the first time since 2018 and lifted both the MEC regular season and the MEC tournament trophy, before making the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA National Tournament. In 2025, Bowers was a part of the staff that was named the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Bowers also lead the Development Team to a 7-1 record in his second season as Head Coach for the Development Team. Fall of 2024 marked Bowers' first season as the lead Assistant in which he was a part of a coaching staff that led the program to the NCAA National Championship game, narrowly losing out 3-2. On the way, the team picked up the MEC Regular Season Championship, the MEC Tournament Championship, and the Super Region I Title. Born in Quito, Ecuador, and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Bowers grew up in South America and played semi-professionally before making his way to the United States to pursue a college degree. He played at the collegiate level by joining the NCAA DII Anderson University (S.C.) men’s soccer team. He assisted the program in capturing a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) regular season title, two SAC Tournament championships, and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances in his playing career. Following his graduation from Anderson in the spring of 2015, Bowers accepted an offer to become the Trojans’ Director of Operations for the next year, where the program secured another trip to the postseason. Bowers moved on to his next role in the fall of 2016 at NCAA DIII Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs. After just one season with the Cardinals, he was promoted to the head coaching position on the men’s soccer program in 2017; a position which he held until the end of the 2023 season. Bowers spent the second highest amount of time of any head coach in school history as the program’s leader both on and off the field, placing third all-time in win percentage among those who spent at least five seasons in the trademark Saint Mary’s red and navy colors. He coached 15 All-Conference players, 22 Academic All-Conference student-athletes, 12 CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-District honorees, and one Academic All-American. In 2022, his team pledged 322 hours of community service to the Winona, Minnesota, area. In 2021, Bowers was named a Co-Head Coach of Med City FC, a team that competes in the National Premier Soccer League. The team finished in second place of the Midwest region and with a final national ranking of No. 18. The team created three All-Conference players and one All-Region player. Most recently, Bowers was the head coach of NAIA powerhouse Corban University. He guided the Warriors during the 2023 season to their tenth consecutive postseason appearance. During his tenure, the team saw one All-Conference athlete, eight Academic All-Conference, four Academic All-District, and six Scholar-Athletes named to the various academic teams. Coach Bowers is a qualified coach with coaching licenses through both USSF and United Soccer Coaches. He has held strength and conditioning certifications with NCSA. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and conversational in Portuguese. Corbin has moved to Charleston with his wife Avory, son Memphis, and dog Hazel.

Connor Hartwell

Connor Hartwell completed his second season as an Assistant Coach at the University of Charleston in Fall 2025, after spending the two seasons prior representing the program as a player. The program went undefeated in the 2025 regular season for the first time since 2018 and lifted both the MEC regular season and the MEC tournament trophy, before making the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA National Tournament. In 2025, Hartwell was a part of the staff that was named the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year. In Fall 2024 in his first season as an Assistant, Hartwell was a part of a coaching staff that led the program to the NCAA National Championship game, narrowly losing out 3-2. On the way, the team picked up the MEC Regular Season Championship, the MEC Tournament Trophy, and the Super Region I Title. During his time as a player, the Romford, England native won 2 MEC regular season titles and 2 MEC post season tournament titles, captaining the side to one of each. Connor graduated with his Bachelor's degree in 2022 from West Virginia Wesleyan College and then completed his Master of Science in Strategic Leadership with honors at UC in Fall 2023. He is now in the midst of undertaking a second Master of Science in Business and Data Analytics. He has an English FA Level One Coaching License and his USSF D License.

Tyler is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Golden Eagles Men’s Soccer Program. A native of McGraw, New York, he studied at the University of Charleston (WV), where he earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Administration with a concentration in Sports Analytics and later completed his MBA in Business Administration. As a student-athlete, Tyler was a member of the Golden Eagles Men’s Soccer Program for five seasons, gaining firsthand experience in the demands and culture of a nationally competitive team. His time at UC allowed him to grow as both a player and leader, while also building a foundation in performance analysis and the business side of sports. Tyler now looks forward to applying his background to the coaching staff at University of Charleston, where he will contribute to player development, and match preparation.
