Kevin Tyrrell enters his fifth year as the Head Baseball Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year. The 2025 season of UChicago baseball was historic. Under Coach Tyrrell, the Maroons recorded a new program best 29-16 record. Russell Kwinter was named not only Rookie of the Year but Pitcher of the Year for the UAA. Chicago placed four on the All-UAA teams as well as two to the ABCA and d3baseball.com All-Region team. In 2024, UChicago went 19-24 (16-8 MWC), reaching the conference tournament final. Rindner and Braden Jirovec earned First Team honors, while Kirk Waller and Phil Hogan made the Second Team. The 2023 Maroons compiled a 25-18 overall record with a 15-9 record in the Midwest Conference (MWC). Drew Bryan was voted as the MWC Pitcher of the Year and was joined on the First Team All-MWC by Erik Rindner (C) and Jack Goldstein (SS). In Tyrrell's debut season as head coach of the Maroons, they posted a 23-16 record. UChicago went 16-7 in the MWC and advanced to the MWC title game. Five players were named to the MWC All-Conference Teams, including First Team selection Carson Weekley (3B/RF). Tyrrell spent the previous three seasons serving as an assistant baseball coach for the Maroons (2019-21). During that time, the team posted a 48-23 cumulative record (.676 winning percentage). UChicago finished first in the Midwest Conference North Division in 2019 and qualified for the MWC Tournament. Prior to his arrival in Hyde Park, Tyrrell was Head Baseball Coach at the College of DuPage for seven seasons. The Chaparrals achieved top-10 rankings in the NJCAA national poll during each of his final four years at DuPage (2015-18). The 2016 squad won 40 games and was ranked as high as fourth in the national poll. Tyrrell's teams at College of DuPage posted an overall record of 188-174. Seven of his players received NJCAA All-American status. In 2016, All-American catcher Javier Martinez received NJCAA Elite Hitter recognition when he led the nation with 74 RBI. The Chaparrals boasted a consistent run of offensive production under Tyrrell, hitting over .300 as a team in all seven seasons - .302 in 2012, .348 in 2013, .334 in 2014, .325 in 2015, .336 in 2016, .309 in 2017 and .319 in 2018. Tyrrell began his head coaching career with the Upper Deck Cougars travel baseball team (2007-10). The 2008 Cougars reached the 15U USSSA National Championship game, and then followed up by winning the 16U USSSA National Championship in 2009. The 2010 team placed eighth nationally. Tyrrell coached 19 NCAA Division I athletes, 10 Major League Baseball draft picks and four players who have played on MLB rosters. Tyrrell played high school baseball at Montini High School where he was an All-State infielder as a senior. At the collegiate level, he played for legendary coach Irish O'Reilly at Lewis University and was a three-year team captain. He graduated from Lewis in 2007 with a double major in business administration and management information systems. Kyle Klosak

Kyle Klosak enters his fourth year as the Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year. Klosak comes to UChicago after a seven-year tenure as Assistant Baseball Coach and Pitching Coach at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill. (2015-22). He executed all in-game managerial decisions involving the pitching staff. Klosak assisted with practice and game planning, recruiting prospective student-athletes, player performance development, and upkeep of the field and equipment. He also built and implemented the team's weightlifting program. In 2019, the Chaparrals boasted the lowest ERA in the region, which also ranked 11th in the nation. COD recorded the second-lowest ERA in the region during the 2022 season. Over the past three seasons, the squad has won 73 percent of its home games. Klosak has held the role of Head Trainer at TPS Sports Performance since 2020, where he designs and instructs training sessions for baseball, basketball, football, hockey and softball athletes. Additionally, he serves as the Assistant Baseball Coach as well as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Chicago Select. Klosak earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Lewis University (2015), where he also played on the baseball team.

Bobby Wilson

Bobby Wilson enters his second year as the Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year. Wilson has been coaching in college baseball since 2014. After spending 5 seasons as an assistant coach at the College of Dupage, he took over as the head coach of the program in 2019 for 6 seasons. Wilson spent a total of 11 seasons with College of Dupage baseball. During his time, Wilson racked up a 124-81-1 record with three NJCAA regional appearances, which included one runner-up finish (2022). The Chapparals were nationally ranked every year since 2019. During his time as head coach, he had 4 players that were honored with NJCAA D3 All American awards, 13 players that were awarded NJCAA Region 4 honors and had 11 Academic All Americans in his time. The 2023 season was the best year for Wilson. The Chaparrals were consistently ranked among the nation's top 15 teams and finished with a 34-18 overall record. They finished the season with nine offensive categories finishing in the top 10 or better. He spent the previous five seasons as the Chaparrals assistant. During those five seasons, Wilson helped with the teams hitting and infield. COD finished in the top 25 in hits in each of the those 5 seasons. The 2015 squad finished in the top 25 in 14 offense categories with Javier Martinez leading the nation in runs batted in. Wilson attended Aurora University where he played for head coach Shaun Neitzel and earned his bachelor’s degree. He helped Aurora to three conference titles and three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. He finished his playing career as the school’s leader in at-bats (641), singles (178) and fielding assists (489). Wilson also runs the Chicago Select Baseball program. Wilson and his wife reside in Glen Ellyn with their daughter.
