Head Coach

Makepeace is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Oilers men and womens swimming and diving teams during the 2016-17 campaign. Makepeace has quickly turned around both programs and has had a number of swimmers earn NCAA Division II All-American honors during his tenure at Findlay. Since taking over in 2012-13, Makepeace has coached 22 NCAA DII All-Americans on the women's side and another four on the men's side. Two of his swimmers have won a GLIAC Championship under his tutelage as well. Both teams have also had much success in the classroom, earning Academic All-American honors in each of his first four seasons. In 2012-13, his mens squad recorded the highest GPA in all of NCAA Division II swimming. Prior to his appointment at UF, Makepeace spent four seasons as an assistant swim coach at Minnesota State University - Mankato.  During his time with the Mavericks, Makepeace helped guide the program to new heights, coaching over 25 All-Americans and rewriting most of the record books.  Makepeace has also coached swimming at various levels as well (tri-athletes, masters, high school and age group) during his career. Makepeace lettered all four years swimming at MSU - Mankato.  During his college career he was an all-conference swimmer and is a school and pool record holder.  He served as captain during his junior and senior seasons and received his bachelors degree in English literature and masters degree in sport and exercise psychology from MSU - Mankato. Coach Makepeace currently resides in Findlay.

Stephanie Fleming

Coach

Fleming is entering her third season as the Oilers diving coach during the 2016-17 campaign. During the 2014-15 season, Fleming coached diver Ashleigh Weddington to an All-American award at the NCAA DII National Championship, the first time an Oilers diver has ever earned the honor. Fleming came to the Oilers after serving as the diving coach for three years at St. Bonaventure University. While there, she was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Diving Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013.  Flemings guidance helped St. Bonaventure win an Atlantic 10 title in 2013 as well. During her career, Fleming has also coached summer camps at the University of Michigan and the University of Buffalo. She has also run a youth diving club, teaching divers of all ages and experience.  Fleming was a diver for the University of Michigan and was a three-time academic all-Big 10 pick.  She also collected the University of Michigan athletic academic achievement award in each of her seasons with the team.  Fleming also reached the finals at the Big 10 championship and was a three-time NCAA zone qualifier. Outside of coaching, Fleming continues to dive and competes at the senior zones and masters nationals. She has won two national titles in the latter. Fleming is married to Jesse Fleming, who serves as the associate head womens basketball coach at Bowling Green State University.
