Frank Marsaglia
Head Coach
Marsaglia guided his first ever individual to the National Championship. Talon Supak took first place at the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional, garnering the first National Tournament appearance for a men's or women's golfer. The team was also nationally ranked as high as 68th, setting another program best mark. Along with the success of Supak, the team set a program record with a 306.19 scoring average across 26 rounds. Along with that, the men's team advanced to the match play portion of the conference tournament for the second straight year, placing fourth in the stroke play portion. Since joining the GLVC, Marsaglia has led the Prairie Stars and improved their finish in the conference each year, culminating with back-to-back fourth place finishes. In 2014-15, he led the men's team to its best conference finish ever, placing fourth after reaching the semifinals for the first time in program history. He also coached the Prairie Star's first-ever men's All-GLVC player in Talon Supak. In 2013-14, Marsaglia's daughter Casara became the first women's player at UIS to ever earn All-GLVC honors after she placed fifth at the conference tourney. Marsaglia had been the assistant golf coach at Virden High School, working with both the boys and girls teams since 2005 and had extensive coaching experience serving on the coaching staffs for both volleyball and baseball at Virden as well. Away from the course, Marsaglia serves as the President of Marsaglia Computers, Inc. a position he has held since 1985. The business builds custom computer packages for business, home and school settings. A Virden, Illinois native, Marsaglia is a 1983 graduate of Florida Atlantic where he played baseball. He also was a member of the baseball team at Lincoln Land Community College prior to attending FAU. Marsaglia earned his master's in computer science from UIS as well. Frank Marsaglia enters his eighth season at Illinois Springfield and this will be the sixth year he will coach both the men's and women's Prairie Star golf teams.
