Head Coach

Former UIndy baseball standout Al Ready is wrapping up his eighth season as the University of Indianapolis baseball head coach in 2026. He owns a 239-139 (.595) record as the Greyhound skipper after sweeping No. 4 Grand Valley State in the Midwest Super Regional. Ready has led the Greyhounds to four straight NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional appearances as well as three NCAA DII Championship berths in the last four years. Ready was guided the Hounds to an impressive 21-4 (.840) record in the NCAA regional and super regional since 2023. The Greyhounds are the only DII baseball team in the nation with an active streak of four consecutive super regional appearances. All told, Ready has been a part of all five of UIndy’s World Series teams—2000 as a player, 2012 as an assistant and 2023, ‘24 and ‘26 as the head coach. Before his head coaching tenure began he was an assistant at UIndy, including three seasons an the Associate Head Coach (2016-18), under longtime head coach Gary Vaught. As an assistant, Ready helped guide the Greyhounds to five NCAA tournament appearances, including the 2012 Midwest Region title and GLVC Tournament crowns in both ‘12 and ‘16. The London, Ontario native served as Sauk Valley Community College’s head coach from 2005-07. At Sauk Valley, Ready posted 88 wins and won back-to-back Arrowhead Conference Championships. He was the conference Coach of the Year in both of those seasons (‘06-’07), setting school records in wins with 34 in 2006, and finishing as the NJCAA DII Region IV runner-up. Ready coached 11 Arrowhead All-Conference honorees and seven NJCAA Region IV All-Region selections during his time with the Skyhawks. His influence was vital in helping 11 players receive scholarships to four-year schools. In his two-year tenure as player at UIndy, the switch-hitting catcher batted .352 with 18 home runs, 74 RBI, and held the school record in career walks (109) and most walks in a season (55) upon graduation. He helped lead the team to a third-place finish in the NCAA DII College World Series, and a No. 6 national ranking in 2000. He also earned Second Team All-American honors in 2000, and was included on the Verizon First Team Academic All-American list in 2001.  The 2001 and ‘08 graduate from UIndy, Ready completed his time at UIndy with a bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems and later his MBA. He currently resides in Indianapolis with his wife Sarah and their four children: Jacob, Camden, and twin daughters Evelyn and Alaina.  READY'S HEAD COACHING RECORD AT UINDY OVERALL GLVC YEAR W L PCT. Payton Plym

Assistant Coach

Plym enters his first season with the Greyhounds on the coach staff after spending two seasons in the UIndy bullpen as a right-handed pitcher. He pitched in 34 games in 2024 and 2025 with 74.2 innings pitched, picking up seven wins and four saves. H recorded 47 strikeouts with a 7.11 ERA, and recorded saves in both 2024 and 2025 in the final game of the Midwest Regional to cement the Hounds' spot in back-to-back Super Regional appearances. His best overall outing was a one-hit shutout against Findlay (4/24/24) when he pitched 3.1 innings and struck out three batters.  Plym also earned multiple awards in his collegiate career including; 2025 Academic All-GLVC, 2024 Academic All-GLVC and 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Gold Glove.  Before arriving at UIndy, Plym attended Black Hawk College for two years, and was part of the 2022 and 2023 Sectional Championship winnings teams. He earned nine career wins with a 4.80 ERA in 2023 and three saves in 2022, and won the 2023 NJCAA Region 4 Golf Glove.  Plym was a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball for Hall Township, and honored on the Three Rivers Athletic Conference All-Conference team twice (once as a third baseman and once as a shortstop). He also earned All-Area Second-Team honors at third base his sophomore year, All-Area First-Team at shortstop his senior season, and won a state championship team in his freshman season.

EJ Devarie

Assistant Coach

Devarie enters his fourth season with the Greyhounds baseball program in 2025. During his time with the Greyhounds, Devarie has worked primarily with the hitters and overseen the offensive unit, which has excelled over the past several seasons. In addition to producing record-breaking offensive performances, the group has combined for more than 150 stolen bases. The base-running attack was led by Caleb Vaughn and Easton Good in separate years, who set the program’s single-season and career stolen base record in back-to-back seasons. In just three seasons with the program, Devarie has been part of two NCAA Division II College World Series teams, three NCAA Regional championships, and two NCAA Super Regional championships, with one Super Regional run cut short during the 2025 season. Under his guidance, the offense produced multiple All-GLVC and All-Region selections, along with several All-American honorees. Prior to arriving in Indianapolis, Devarie spent the 2023 season at Seton Hall University as a volunteer assistant coach. Before his time at Seton Hall, he served as an assistant coach in the Cape Cod League with the Brewster Whitecaps in 2021, helping guide the team to the 2021 Cape Cod League Championship. Devarie has also made coaching stops at Keystone College in Pennsylvania and Marian University in Indianapolis, working with hitters and infielders at both programs. At Keystone College, he helped lead the team to both a regular-season and conference tournament championship, culminating in an NCAA Division III Regional appearance. Devarie began his coaching career following a four-year playing career at Ball State University and two seasons in the American Association with the Gary SouthShore RailCats. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Devarie has mentored numerous MLB draftees, including four first-round selections and more than 25 total MLB draft picks.

Connor Hinerman

Assistant Coach

The 2026 season will be the second for Connor Hinerman on the staff at UIndy. After one year with Greyhounds as a Graduate Assistant Coach, the Newark, OH native will be an Assistant Coach for the 2026 campaign. Hinerman spent two seasons with the University of Dayton Flyers baseball team, before he suffered a career ending injury that pushed him towards finishing his time at the school as a student assistant.  In 2023, Hinerman spent a season with the Licking County Settlers in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.  Hinerman received his bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Dayton, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in sport management at UIndy.

Zack Williams

Assistant Coach

Williams enters his first season as a Graduate Assistant for the UIndy baseball team.  In his four seasons with the Greyhounds, Williams posted a .315 batting average, 109 RBIs and 10 home runs in 144 games played for UIndy. In his last season with the Hounds, he had a career high in both stolen bases (22) and walks (51). He also earned Academic All-GLVC honors in all four seasons with the program.  Williams graduated from UIndy with a bachelor's in supply chain management and operations, and is currently pursuing his master's of science in management.

Josh Foreman

Assistant Coach

The 2026 season will be the second for Josh Foreman on the staff at UIndy. The Kickapoo, IL native joined the Greyhounds as a Volunteer Assistant in 2025 after spending the past 7 seasons at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL. Foreman served as an assistant at Sandburg during the 2017-18 season that saw the Chargers win their first Arrowhead Conference Championship since 2008. Foreman took over the reigns as Head Coach from 2018-2024 and led Sandburg to two more Arrowhead Conference Championships (2019, 2022) which earned him Conference Coach of the Year honors in those seasons. While at Sandburg, Foreman coached 30 Arrowhead All-Conference honorees, 3 Arrowhead MVPs, 11 NJCAA Region IV All-Region selections, and 3 NJCAA Region IV Gold Glove recipients. Foreman’s teams posted 124 wins and were consistently one of the top offensive teams in NJCAA Region IV. Before Sandburg, Foreman spent time coaching at Brimfield (IL) and Princeville (IL) high schools, while running the KVL KHawks Travel Baseball Organization in Central Illinois. As a player, Foreman was a member of the Waubonsee Community College baseball team in 2002-03, where he garnered All-Region IV honors as well as All-Skyway Conference honors in his two years as a Chief. He went on to play his final two years at Murray State University in 2004-05 where he was named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for his efforts on the field and in the classroom. Foreman received his Associate’s Degree from Waubonsee CC, and in December of 2024 graduated cum laude, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Murray State University.
