Scott Fangman
Coach
Fangman has led the UIndy tracksters to their most success in program history in recent years. Fangman's 2010 and 2011 teams had arguably the best seasons of any UIndy track programs, with the men's squad winning both the GLVC Indoor and Outdoor titles and the women's team taking the GLVC Outdoor championship in 2010. Fangman earned the GLVC's Coach of the Year nod for all three of those seasons, and was named the Midwest Regon Men's Head Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In 2009, Fangman led the Greyhounds to both women's GLVC titles, and was named coach of the year in both seasons. Fangman earned the Indiana Intercollegiate female Coach of the Year honor in 2008, leading the Greyhounds to the 2008 Indiana Intercollegiate Outdoor championship. UIndy also won a women's outdoor title in 2004 and a men's outdoor title in 2003. Fangman was dubbed the GLVC women's coach of the year for the 2004 outdoor season. The GLVC "Coach of the Year" led his 2002 women's team to its first Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in school history. UIndy also took home its first men's outdoor GLVC title, as the school's last men's track conference title had been its Heartland Collegiate Conference crown in 1981. Fangman's 2002 Greyhounds won both the Indiana Intercollegiate Little State and Jerry England Invitational titles for the second consecutive year. Fangman is a nine-time GLVC "Coach of the Year", and works extensively with the hurdlers and horizontal jumpers. Fangman came to UIndy after 14 seasons as head track coach at Southport High School in Indianapolis. At Southport, Fangman's teams were ranked in the state for 12 consecutive years, finishing in the top 10 at the state meet five times. Fangman coached five individual state champions and three state runner-ups. Fangman's Southport teams posted an overall record of 490-152, winning two Marion County titles and a pair of sectional championships. Fangman has a strong coaching staff with working with sprinters, middle distance, relays, and meet management, Greyhound cross country coach directing distance runners and coaching throwers.
