Consandria Walker
Assistant Coach
Walker enters her 7th year of coaching as the Head Coach of the UMass Boston Track and Field and Cross Country programs. Since joining the Beacons in August 2010, Walker and her team of coaches have been re-writing the record books and guiding an increasing number of student-athletes into post-season competition, including nine student athletes who have participated in NCAA National Championships to date. She has seen tremendous success and has continued to bring in some of the top athletes from all over New England. During the 2015-16 season, Walker coached the university's first national champion in over 30 years: nine-time All-American Hulerie McGuffie, who won the 400-meter dash at both the Indoor and Outdoor NCAA National Championship. At the outdoor championship, McGuffie posted the second fastest 400-meter time in the meet's history (53.55 seconds). McGuffie now sits second on the Outdoor All-Time performance list behind former Beacon and alumna Genesia Eddins. She sits in sixth place on the Indoor All-Time performance list for the 400m event. Last season, junior Taylor Smith dominated in the Discus; she took first place at the Little East Alliance Championship, the Division III New England Championship, and the All New England Championship in that event. Entering the Outdoor NCAA National Championship with a throw of 45.05m, Smith finished 15th overall to end her junior year. During the Cross Country season, Walker and her coaching staff saw a record of six athletes (3 men, 3 women) qualify for the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship meet. Moreover, McGuffie, along with transfer Taylor Driggers, were respectively named the 2016 Little East Conference Outdoor Track Athlete and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. Under Walkers guidance, the womens program also saw two 4 x 100m relay teams qualify for the NCAA National Championship. In 2013, senior Samara Faustin led the first 4 x 100m relay squad to represent the university in almost 30 years. Anisha Trappier, Krista Ledin, Renee OBrien and Hulerie McGuffie would return in 2014 to place 7th, earning Athletic and Academic All-American honors. Renee OBrien made history by competing in the womens High Jump that same year. On the mens side, Walker coached her first sprinter to the Outdoor NCAA National Championship in spring of 2016, where now-junior Dominic Nda placed 15th overall in the 100m dash. Nda led his conference during both Track and Field seasons in the short sprints; he inevitably went on to dominate the Conference Championship meet in both the 60m dash and the 100m dash. Walker and staff also coached three-time All-American high jumper Carl Joseph. Joseph ended the 2014 outdoor season as one of the nation's top high jumpers with a best mark of 7-00.50 feet to finish in fourth place nationally. In 2013, she set a new program standard by bringing both Joseph and fellow high jumper Tylor Hart to the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship in Wisconsin. In just six seasons, Walker has seen her athletes set over 40 program records across both the mens and womens programs. Her student-athletes have also garnered weekly honors from both the Little East Conference and the ECAC. To date, she has coached five Little East Conference major award winners. Originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, Walker graduated with bachelors degree from Northeastern University in Human Service and completed her Masters Degree at Lasell College in Sports Management in 2015. She currently resides in Randolph, MA with her husband, Frankie Hall Jr., and their daughters Joi and Jamaiya.
