Assistant Coach

Borks 10th year as a full-time assistant with the Grizzly track and field program and his 15th year as a coach in the program overall.   Bork spent one year as a graduate assistant, two as a volunteer coach and two on a half-time basis before being promoted to a full-time position in August 2007.   A two-time all-America decathlete while competing at Montana, Bork coaches the multi-events and jumps.   A former Griz standout, Bork earned all-America honors in the decathlon at both the 2001 and 02 NCAA outdoor championships, placing 10th with 7,229 points in 2001 and sixth in 2002 with a personal-best 7,699 points. That total continues to rank fifth in Big Sky Conference history.   Bork was the 2002 Big Sky Conference decathlon champion.   He continued to train for the multi-events after graduation and competed in the decathlon at the 2002 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the heptathlon at the 2004 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.   Bork and his wife, Ashild, a former Griz tennis player, have two sons, Olander and Benson, and a daughter, Tia.

David Paul

Assistant Coach

Pauls second year as an assistant coach with the Montana track and field program. He coaches the Grizzlies throwers.   In his first season, Paul coached Hana Feilzer to school records in the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw, and Kayla Holmes to a Big Sky Conference title in the discus. Feilzer, in the hammer, and Holmes, in the discus, both made NCAA regionals.   He spent the previous four years coaching at Central Washington.   Paul, a 2007 graduate of Eastern Washington with a degree in health and fitness, was a four-time Big Sky Conference champion for the Eagles and one of the top throwers in Big Sky history.   He won two Big Sky titles in the discus, one each in the hammer and weight throws, and nine times placed in the top three in the throws.   Paul holds the Big Sky Conference record in the hammer with a throw of 226-2, which he unleashed at the 2007 outdoor championships. He also finished first in the discus and third in the shot put at that meet to earn Field Athlete of the Meet honors.   He also claimed Field Athlete of the Meet honors at the 2007 indoor championships. He won the weight with a championships-record throw of 68-8.5, a mark that ranks third in Big Sky history, and placed third in the shot put.   Paul finished 14th in the weight throw at the 2007 NCAA indoor championships and 25th in the hammer throw at the 2007 outdoor championships.   He finished his career with a PR of 185-0 in the discus, the 10th-best mark in Big Sky history, and 56-10.5 in the shot.   Paul, a native of Yelm, Wash., earned a masters degree in athletic administration from Central Washington in 2013.
