Justin Pratt
Head Coach
Pratt, the women's golf team finished second in the Peach Belt Conference in the 2013-14 season. Elaine Wood was named PBC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot in the regional tournament. The Falcons entered the 2011-12 season with a roster that featured just three upperclassmen. Montevallo was without its most decorated female golfer in school history as Emily Gibson graduated following the 2010-11 season and the Falcons top two golfers entering the season were freshman. UM picked up five top-five finishes despite the young roster and came away with a sixth place finish at the PBC Championships. The average finish for the team in 2011 was 6.7 and the Falcons finished fifth at the PBC Championships. On top of that, he coached Emily Gibson, the Universitys most decorated golfer, to a twelfth-place finish at the NCAA Super Regional which earned her an invite to the NCAA Championships where she would finish tied for 44th. Gibson became the first Peach Belt Conference womens golfer in history to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She was also named UM Female Athlete of the Year and PBC Womens Golfer of the Year. In Pratts first year as coach of the Falcons, the women finished the season strong with a third place finish at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Falcons placed two golfers on the PBC First Team (Emily Gibson and Emma Breen). Gibson was also named the Conference Golfer of the Year and a First Team All-America selection for her outstanding play all season. Prior to being named the head coach, Pratt had been a familiar face around the Montevallo athletic department having spent eight years as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's soccer program. With his assistance the UM soccer program reached new heights, going to four NCAA tournaments, making one Final Four appearance, winning the GSC regular season in 2008 and the GSC tournament in 2004. He helped coach 43 All-GSC selections, one Major League Soccer draft pick, four NSCAA All-Americans, 17 NSCAA All-Region members and three GSC Players of the Year. Pratt is a 1999 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received a bachelor's degree in health promotions/fitness leadership while leading the Blazers to a pair of Conference USA championships and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 1999 during his four-year career. Pratt was a first round draft pick in the 2000 A- League Draft ( USL 1st Division) and played 3 years with the Indiana Blast and El Paso Patriots.
