Sylvain Malroux

Malroux returns to Nevada where he was the women's head tennis coach for six seasons from 2006-11. He also spent two seasons in 2010 and 2011 as the Wolf Pack's men's tennis coach. "We couldn't be happier to bring Sylvain back to the Pack," Knuth said. "He is highly regarded for his recruiting and player development skills and has a deep connection to Reno with many close friends from his previous years in Reno. We welcome Sylvain and his family to Reno and look forward to great things happening for Wolf Pack men's tennis." Malroux returns to Nevada after four seasons as the head women's tennis coach at San José State University where he compiled a record of 58-34. In 10 years as a head women's tennis coach his career record stands at 133-91. Prior to his first stint at Nevada he spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Clemson. "I am thrilled to bring my family back to Nevada and excited to take the men's tennis team to new heights, including a Mountain West Championship," Malroux said. "I would like to thank Doug Knuth, Tina Ruff and everyone involved for the opportunity to rejoin the Wolf Pack. It is an exciting time to be part of the Wolf Pack, and I look forward to continue to build ties with the community and get the Northern Nevada tennis fanatics in support of the Wolf Pack tennis family." All four of his SJSU teams posted winning marks with the 2013 squad winning the Western Athletic Conference Championship and finished the year ranked 63rd by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The 2013 WAC Championship team was the first SJSU team to appear in the NCAA Tournament and tied the school record with 19 wins. Six Spartans earned All-WAC honors including Klaudia Boczova being named the WAC Player of the Year. The 2015 Spartan squad went 14-7 and was ranked as high as 53rd by the ITA before ending the year ranked 73rd. The team went 6-0 at home and defeated two ranked opponents in Hawai`i and San Diego State. Sybille Gauvain and Marie Klocker received All-Mountain West singles honors and Klocker teamed with Gaelle Rey to receive All-MW doubles recognition. While at Nevada his 2009 squad ended the year ranked 65th by the ITA and the 2007 squad was 66th at the end of the year. Eight Pack players earned first-team All-WAC honors and nine garnered second-team recognition during his time as the women's coach. Two players were named WAC Freshman of the Year and 34 earned academic All-WAC honors. Five of his six Wolf Pack teams posted winning records with the 2006 and 2007 teams winning 14 matches. The 2010 team placed second at the WAC Championship. The 2008, 2009 and 2011 Pack women's teams placed third at the WAC Championship while the 2006 and 2007 squads tied for third. Malroux began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Clemson University in 2001 and was named the ITA Division I Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004. In his four seasons the Tigers competed in NCAA Championship each year and advanced to the Final Four in 2004 and 2005. Clemson was ranked in the top 20 in the final ITA rankings in 2003 (No. 19), 2004 (No. 5) and 2005 (No. 10).
