Millican an Email Entering his 16th year as head coach of the University of New Mexico men's golf team, UNM alumnus Glen Millican has enjoyed tremendous success at his alma mater, winning an unprecendented six Mountain West championships, including back-to-back titles in 2013-14. In addition to six team titles Millican has also coached 5 Individual MWC Champions (2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014), along with 5 MWC Players of the Year (2003, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014). He also has led UNM to a pair of fifth-place finishes at the NCAA Championship -- in 2005 and 2013. Millican has been at the helm of the program since June 25, 2001, and is only the seventh head coach in its history. Since his hire, Millican has won 30 tournaments and six conference titles. The 30 tournament wins secures Millican's position as the All-Time Winningest coach in program history passing the late great Dick McGuire (1954-76). Millican is four conference championships shy of passing McGuire for most in program history.  Millican was a three-year letterwinner for UNM from 1994-1998 for John Fields, he had seven top-10 finishes in 27 career tournaments and placed 11th at the 1997 WAC Championships. He also was a 1997 Academic All-American, posting a 3.34 GPA in working towards his degrees in General Management and Human Resources. Millican also earned his M.B.A in 2000 from UNM's Anderson School of Management. In 1998, Millican was the assistant coach under J.T. Higgins, helping guide the team to success in the classroom and on the links. In each of his six semesters as assistant coach, the team posted a GPA higher than 2.95. That success continued last year, as three Lobos were Academic All-Mountain West Conference selections. The 2014-15 season saw Millican guide Gavin Green to a third all-america honor in his senior year, making him the programs first-ever three-time All-American. Green was also a PING All-Region Team selection for the West, joining only four other Mountain West golfers on the team. The 2014-15 MW Golfer of the Year was one of eleven golfers in the nation named to PING's All-American First Team. The 2013-14 team, which didn't have a senior among its top eight players, successfull defended its Mountain West championship. The team also successfully defended its William H. Tucker Intercollegiate title at the UNM Championship Course and won at the Gopher Invitational and Lone Star Invitation. The four wins added to the five in 2013 give the Lobos their best two-year run in the history of the program with nine titles in two seasons. Lobo junior Gavin Green earned MW Players of the Year honors, giving UNM back-to-back conference players of the year (James Erkenbeck won the award in 2013). He and Victor Perez both were named to the PING All-West Region team and Mountain West first team. The Lobos have nine all-conference selections in the past three seasons under Millican.  Millican was a finalist for the Golf Coaches Association of America National Coach of the Year Award in 2013. He has three Eaton Golf Pride Southwest Regional Coach of the Year awards, three Mountain West Coach of the Year honors, and he has coached nine All-Americans. The 2012-13 year was as successful as any year Millican has had at UNM. The Lobos had a remarkable postseason run, winning the Mountain West Championship in Tucson, the NCAA Columbus Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and qualifying for the match play portion of the NCAA Championships in Alpharetta, Ga. The team also won the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship Golf Course, the Arizona Invitational in Tucson and the National Invitational Tournament, also in Tucson. UNM finished in the top five in 13 of its 14 tournaments in 2012-13, including five wins and four second-place results. It was ranked in the top five in the nation for most of the year, with a high of No. 3. Senior James Erkenbeck was named a 2012-13 first-team All-America by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The San Diego native won the Columbus Regional individual title and tied for the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters championship in Las Vegas, Nev. Erkenbeck also was one of six collegians who qualified to play for Team USA in the Palmer Cup -- a collegiate version of the Ryder Cup -- in June. Fellow Lobo Victor Perez just missed qualifying for Team Europe. Erkenbeck was the nation's 16th-ranked colliegian, according to Golfweek.com, and was the MW Men's Golfer of the Year. Sophomore Gavin Green earned third-team All-America honors in 2012-13. The Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia native won the 2012 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate and was the 34th-ranked collegian by Golfweek.com. He was the top Lobo at the NCAA Championships, finishing 26th among 156 competitors during tournament play and winning his match-play showdown during UNM's quarterfinal match against eventual national champion Alabama. Erkenbeck, Green, senior John Catlin and sophomore Victor Perez all earned PING All-West Region honors, as well as All-MW honors. It was the first time in school history as well as the history of the MW that one team had four players make the all-conference team. The Lobos also were named to the 2013 All-Academic team by the GCAA with a team grade-point average of 3.28. Senior Benjamin Bauch and Catlin both earned Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar designation. Bauch, Catlin and senior Ryan Berry also were named MW scholar-athletes and Bauch, Catlin and Perez each earned Academic All-Mountain West honors. The 2011-12 edition of the UNM men's golf team consistently ranked in the top 25 in both the GolfStat.com and GolfWeek.com polls throughout the season. The national ranking, that included a team victory at the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas in October, helped the Lobos earn a bid in the NCAA Regionals in Athens, Ga. With the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships, New Mexico finished sixth, one agonizing stroke out of fifth place. Still, UNM enjoyed tremendous success -- especially for a team who didn't have a senior among its top six players. Junior John Catlin scored medalist honors at the Arizona Invitational, and freshman Victor Perez captured the individual title at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. As a team, the Lobos earned top-five finishes in each of their first 11 tournaments and 12 of 14 overall. The team earned the Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team honors (the team must maintain above a 3.0 grade-point average for the entire year) for the third consecutive year. Catlin was a honorable-mention All-America selection as well as a All-America Scholar. Catlin and fellow junior James Erkenbeck earned PING All-West Region honors. Catlin, Erkenbeck and Perez received All-Mountain West recognition -- the first time in 21 years that three Lobos earned all-conference honors in the same season. Catlin, Ben Bauch, Gavin Green and Victor Perez each earned Academic All-Conference honors for the spring of 2012. The 2011-12 year was a surprise for a team that used three juniors and three freshmen. The Lobos missed out on postseason play in 2010-11, but senior Travis Ross finished as runner-up in the individual competition at the Mountain West Championships. Ross also was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Despite his departure, the Lobos should be an improved group in 2011-12 with a blend of returning players and a highly touted freshmen class. Coming off a tough campaign in 2007-08, where the Lobos did not make the postseason for the first time since 1984, Millican's Lobos returned to NCAA Regional Play in the 2008-09 season. The Lobos finished sixth at the West Regional in Lake Merced, Calif., coming within a single stroke of qualifying for the NCAA National Championship tournament. In 2006-07, Millican led the Lobos to the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in his six years as head coach. Senior Charlie Beljan earned second team PING All-American honors, winning three tournaments on the year. He was also named the MWC Player of the Year following the season. As a team, UNM won the William H. Tucker Invitational at the UNM Championship Course. Millican directed the Lobos to a MWC championship in 2006, the program's fourth in a row. He also helped senior Jay Choi to second team PING All-American honors. Choi, along with junior Charlie Beljan, were selected to the PING All-Southwest Region team as well. Millican's 2006 team posted an 830 at the John Burns Intercollegiate, the lowest 54-hole score in UNM history. In 2005 Millican led the Lobos to their third consecutive MWC championship and a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships, which was the best finish since 1979. The Lobos also won five tournaments the most by a Millican guided team. Millican helped junior Spencer Levin to first team PING All-American honors. Levin, along with seniors Miguel Griego and Madalitso Muthiya, junior Jay Choi and sophomore Charlie Beljan were selected to the PING All-Southwest Region team as well. Millican's 2005 team posted the lowest 18 and 54-hole scores in UNM history. In 2004, Millican guided the Lobos to their second consecutive MWC championship and third consecutive berth in the NCAA Championships. Millican also helped Levin to second team PING All-American honors and freshman Charlie Beljan to the MWC Freshman of the Year award. Beljan and Levin, along with junior Jay Reynolds and sophomore Jay Choi, were selected to the PING All-Southwest Region team. Millican's 2004 team posted the second and fourth lowest 54-hole scores in UNM history. In 2003, Millican won his first MWC championship and led the Lobos to their second consecutive NCAA bid. Millican was named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year and tutored Michael Letzig to Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. Letzig also earned second team PING All-American honors and Millican was named Eaton Golf Pride Southwest Regional Coach of the Year. In his first year as head coach, Millican led the Lobos back to the Big Dance for the 11th time in 13 years. Millican's squad also won three tournaments to tie a school record, set in the 2000-01 season. The 37-year-old Millican became just the seventh mentor for Lobo golf since World War II, and he was welcomed with open arms into the small fraternity with which he has much in common. Millican joined the ever-growing family tree of former players who have returned to coach their alma mater. Dwaine Knight, a player in 1968-69, coached the Lobos to prominence from 1977-86. John Fields, a player from 1978-81, succeeded Knight from 1987-97. Then it was Millican's turn, as he earned the first head coaching job of his career at UNM. While an assistant coach at UNM, Millican was involved in several aspects of fund-raising and recruiting, as well as using his experience on the links to evaluate and teach the game. During his tenure, the Lobos were consistently listed in the top-20, achieving a ranking as high as No. 8 in 2001, and qualified for the 2000 NCAA Championships. A total of four players earned Academic All-America accolades and two were named All-America for their performance on the course. Additionally, the Lobos featured the conference Freshman of the Year in both 1999 (Wil Collins) and 2000 (Michael Letzig) and 2010 (John Catlin), as well as the 2001 Hogan Award winner (Collins). All 10 seniors who came to term while Millican was on board graduated, and the team GPA was above 3.00 in each of his six semesters on staff, with a high of 3.30 in the Spring of 2000. The Lobos had some dominating performances on the course as well. The team shattered the school scoring mark at the John Burns Intercollegiate with an 832 (-32), 10 strokes better than the previous UNM record. During his three years as an assistant, Lobo golf made tremendous strides in improving the state of the program. The Top-100 Club, UNM golf's booster arm, raised over $250,000 and the Patty Howard Golf Complex was constructed, giving both the men's and women's teams new administrative offices. Millican's best showing as a Lobo golfer was a seventh-place tie at the 1994 Red River Classic as a freshman. His career stroke average was 75.06 in 80 rounds of play. Millican had a low 18-hole round of 67 and a low 54-hole round of 214 (-2) at the 1996 Red River Classic. He also won the 1997 Albuquerque City Championship. Millican is a 1993 graduate of North Garland HS in Garland, Texas. Millican is married to the former Megan Precek. The couple has two daughters, Ryley Nicole and Emily Jane.  

McGee Drew McGee is in his first year as University of New Mexico assistant coach for head coach Glen Millican. Prior to accepting an assistant's position with the Lobos, McGee was head coach of the men's and women's teams at NAIA Northwood College in Cedar Hill, Texas. "I am excited about the opportunity to join coach Millican and the University of New Mexico," McGee said. "He has done a great job making the golf program a national contender on a yearly basis.  This is the kind of program you look to join as a coach. I look forward to working with coach Millican and the team to help continue this successful tradition." Northwood's teams broke two scoring records under McGee during his tenure, and the women's team finished 10th in the 2014 NAIA Championships in Lincoln, Neb. Individually, Daniela Martinez for fifth place with a 13-over 301. Northwood also won the 2014 Champions of Character Award. McGee began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at McNeese State in 2013 in Lake Charles, La. He is a 2012 graduate of Baylor University and was a three-year letter winner for coach Greg Priest.  McGee was a member of the Big XII Commissioner's honor roll He was a four-year letterwinner for head coaches Ronnie Jones and Jeff Williamson at Graham (Texas) High School. McGee led the Steers to back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2006 before helping Graham strike gold with a state championship in 2008. McGee was a first-team all-district, all-region and all-state performer his senior year. McGee's parents are Michelle and Glenn McGee. His sister Anna is a volleyball player at Armstrong State.  

Zimmerly is currently the head Pro at Ladera Golf Course in Albuquerque. He was a successful Sun Country section player and have played in events on both the Nike(Nationwide) and Hooters tour. Zimmerly also is an instructor for the University of New Mexico, teaching Continuing Education Golf 1 at Ladera golf course. He currently also caddys on the PGA, Nationwide, and LPGA tours for players such as former Lobos Kent Jones, DJ Brigman, Brian Kortan, LPGA rookie of the year Dorothy Delasin and Notah Begay III. Zimmerly attended NMSU's first class of the PGM program from 1988-92. He worked for Hank Haney at Stonebridge in Dallas, Texas, following graduation. He spent three years at Arroyo Del Oso in Albuquerque before moving across town to Ladera where he has worked for the past 13 years. Zimmerly is married to former Lobo women's golfer Kari Hunter (1989-93). The couple has two girls, Kaitlin and Kourtney. Zimmerly's father, Sam, is also a former Lobo golfer, having played for legendary coach Dick McGuire.
