Head Coach
Walker has the Lions to a solid 37-15-5 record that includes reaching the championship match of the 2014 Gulf South Conference Tournament, winning the regular-season and post-season GSC titles in 2015 and advancing to the NCAA Division II South Regional in 2014 and 2015. Walkers first squad in 2013 went 8-8-2 before the 2014 Lions posted a 14-4-1 mark. That team included the Division II National Player of the Year in junior Chloe Richards, who led Division II in four categories, including most goals and most points. For his part, Walker was voted the 2014 Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year by the other league coaches. This past season Walker led UNA to a 15-3-2 record and the Lions hosted the GSC Tournament for the first time after winning the regular-season GSC crown. After claiming the GSC Tournament title as well, UNA hosted an NCAA South Region event for the first time and made the program's sixth NCAA post-season appearance in the last seven years. Walker is the fourth head coach in the 18-year history of the UNA womens soccer program and came to Florence after serving as an assistant coach at Lee University. Walker, a Lee graduate and former player on the mens soccer team there, served as an assistant coach with the Lee womens team for the last three years and helped lead the Flame to two NAIA National Championships. At UNA, Walker followed Graham Winkworth who posted a 111-81-8 record with the Lions over 10 years and led UNA to four consecutive NCAA Division II Regional Tournaments from 2009-12. Walker had a successful playing career for the Lee Flames and was an integral part of the squad that qualified for the NAIA national tournament in 2005. He was a captain of the Flames squad and earned all-conference honors on three different occasions. He graduated from Lee in December 2006 with a B.A. in Business Administration and then served as a graduate assistant for the Lee mens team in 2006-07. In 2008, Walker moved to Tennessee Tech where he worked as the top assistant and finished his M.A. in Education in July 2008. He was also working as a director of coaching at Westfields Soccer Club in Indiana before returning to Lee in 2010 as assistant coach with the womens program. Over the last three seasons at Lee, the school has had the best womens soccer program in the history of the NAIA. Winning three Southern States Athletic Conference regular season and tournament title and back-to-back national championships (2010-11). Lee now holds the highest winning percentage in NAIA national tournament play in the history of the organization. Lee also went all three seasons without a loss in league play. Also during Walkers time as an assistant at Lee, in addition to the numerous individual awards earned on the field by Flame players, the team carried at least a 3.3 grade point average all three years and was recognized by the NSCAA and NAIA as an Academic Team Scholar Award winner. Walker is married to former Lee University soccer player, Tiffany Cox Walker and they have a son, Benjamin.

Kevin Schenk
Assistant Coach
University of North Alabama head women's soccer coach Chris Walker announced the addition of Kevin Schenk as assistant coach March 10, 2026 with a focus on goalkeepers. Schenk joins the program following the departure of Tara McQueen, who joined the Auburn Tigers of the SEC to coach goalkeepers after three seasons at UNA. "Kevin is an outstanding addition to our program," said head coach Chris Walker. "He brings a great understanding of the game, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for developing student-athletes. We're excited to welcome him to Florence and to the North Alabama family, and I know he will make a tremendous impact on our players both on and off the pitch." A Cary, Illinois, native, Schenk first began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Dubuque as a graduate assistant coach for the women's soccer team in 2019. He was responsible for goalkeeper training, scouting opponents and video breakdown. Other duties included organizing recruiting events, highlight videos, team travel and other administrative tasks. In 2019, the Spartans went 12-5-6, recording eight shutouts and advancing to the semifinals. Schenk also was an assistant coach for the boys' and girls' soccer teams at Crystal Lake South high school in Illinois where he led the boys' team to an IHSA 2A state championship in 2018. After one season at Dubuque, Schenk joined Indiana University as the goalkeeper coach. In his first season with the Hoosiers, Schenk mentored Big Ten All-Freshman Team honoree Jamie Gerstenberg. Gerstenberg was selected a Top Drawer Soccer No. 21 Freshman in the Top 100; in 16 matches she posted nine shutouts and a 0.49 goals-against average. Following Indiana, Schenk joined the Thundering Herd of Marshall in 2023. Marshall went 7-9-1 and in six of those contests his goalkeepers posted shutouts. In 2024, he joined the Gonzaga staff as an assistant coach where he served until joining the North Alabama staff. During his two seasons with the Bulldogs, he led them to 11 shutout victories with an overall win total of 18. From 2013-2015, Schenk was a goalkeeper himself for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He was a part of two teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament before the university closed the program's doors in 2015; the UW-Oshkosh Athletic Department announced the return of the program in the fall of 2027. After the closing of the soccer program, he transferred to complete his bachelor's degree of business education at Illinois State. He followed that with his master's degree in sports management from the University of Dubuque. Additionally, Schenk coached in the USL Super League and USL League One with the Spokane Zephyr and Spokane Velocity in 2025. He coached the South Central Soccer Academy as the head coach of the U15/U17 boys' teams. Schenk spent time with the Iowa ODP and the Dubuque Soccer club as a goalkeeper coach for both. Schenk has earned a United States Soccer Federation D License and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level three diploma. "I'm incredibly excited to be joining North Alabama women's soccer," said Schenk. "I would like to thank Head Coach Chris Walker and Assistant Coach Adam Sportsman for the opportunity to join the staff. Their bold vision for the program and commitment to excellence was evident in the interview process and something I'm eager to contribute to. I'm looking forward to building relationships with the team, helping our student-athletes grow both on and off the field, and working together to continue moving the program forward."
