Dee Waters
Head Coach
Waters begins her second season as head cross country coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. In her first season, Waters led the Pitt-Greensburg men to a 3 rd place finish at the 2015 AMCC Championship, securing the highest team finish since 2007. SR Garrett Urban finished 9 th overall, becoming just the 2 nd runner in Bobcat history, and one of only 24 runners in league history to earn AMCC All-Conference honors in all four seasons. FR Dan Spanner finished 10 th overall, becoming just the 4 th male runner in Pitt-Greensburg history to earn All-AMCC honors. The Bobcat women were paced by SO Kelsey Oddis, who finished in 10 th place at the 2015 AMCC Championship, earning All-AMCC honors for the first time in her career. Oddis also now holds the Pitt-Greensburg 6K record, after running a 26:01.3 at the Gettysburg Invitational (10/17/15). Prior to joining the Bobcat athletic department, Waters served as the assistant cross country coach at NCAA Division II Pitt-Johnstown for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. She played an integral role in reviving the Mountain Cat program. In 2008, UPJ finished 12 th at the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Cross Country Championships. The next season, UPJ showcased tremendous improvement, finishing 6 th at the WVIAC Championships. This 6 th place finish remains the programs highest-ever WVIAC finish. Waters also recruited and coached the first and only All-WVIAC performer in Mountain Cat history. In total, Waters has ten years of track and field coaching experience. For four seasons, she was a member of the Hempfield Area High School Track and Field Staff, primarily working with the long and triple jumpers. She coached the 2014 PIAA AAA Long Jump Champion and the 2015 PIAA AAA Long Jump Runner-Up. The Hempfield Area Girls claimed back-to-back PIAA AAA Team State Championships in 2013 and 2014. In the Spring of 2004, Waters served as an assistant track and field coach at her alma mater, West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC), helping the Bobcats win the 2004 Mens and Womens WVIAC Team Championships. A standout collegiate athlete, Waters was a member of the track and field, cross country, and basketball teams at Wesleyan. Under the direction of legendary WVWC mentor Jesse Skiles, Waters was a four-time All-WVIAC performer on the track. As a freshman, she won the 2000 WVIAC title in the triple jump and was also a member of the WVIAC Champion 4X4 relay team. Waters closed her collegiate career by winning the 2003 WVIAC Titles in both the long jump and the triple jump. She was also a member of two squads that brought home WVIAC Track and Field Team Championships. In 2001, she helped the Bobcats to a WVIAC Cross Country title by placing 15 th overall at the WVIAC Championship meet. The team placed 6 th at the East Regional Championships, which at the time was the highest-ever regional finish in program history. On the hardwood, Waters was co-captain of a Wesleyan squad that finished her senior season 19-10 and advanced to the WVIAC Semifinals. Waters graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2003. A native of Everson, Pa., Waters was a three-sport athlete at Southmoreland High School. She was a two-time WPIAL AA Champion in the triple jump. Waters was also a standout for the Scotties in cross country, where her team won two WPIAL AA Championships and finished 5 th at the 1997 PIAA AA State Championship Meet. She earned her Masters Degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008. Eaton begins her second season as assistant cross country coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. She is no stranger to the Bobcat athletic department, however, as she has served as the head womens basketball coach for the past six seasons. The womens basketball team has made five straight AMCC Playoff appearances, finishing as AMCC Runners-Up in 2014-15.
