Leslie Whittemore

Head Coach

Whittemore returned to full-time status in a familiar position of coaching in August of 2015 while remaining the Bulldogs' NCAA compliance and eligibility coordinator. Whittemore first became the head coach of men's and women's swimming & diving in 1996. While under her direction, the men's program won seven SCIAC titles, the women's program captured three SCIAC titles, and neither team ever finished lower than third place in the final conference standings. Her combined SCIAC dual-meet record over her first 14 seasons was 15126. Whittemore also played an integral role in the development of many record-holders, All-Americans, and NCAA Championship qualifiers. In addition, Whittemore's teams were consistently among Redlands' top-performing academic programs and included three NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients and numerous Scholar All-Americans. Outside of coaching, Whittemore previously served as a valuable asset to Bulldog Athletics and the SCIAC. She took on the role of Senior Woman Administrator from 1998 to 2006, and taught numerous Physical Education courses. Since stepping away in 2010, Whittemore also worked in real estate, coached various youth sports, volunteered at her children's school, and been a consistent supporter of Bulldog Athletics. Beyond her involvement with compliance and eligibility at Redlands, Whittemore served as the Meet Director for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (SCIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships. In this role, she coordinated the administrative responsibilities with the host institution in preparation for the four-day event and managed the meet with a friendly and knowledgeable presence on the deck. Highlighted by earning All-SCIAC recognition each year of her swimming career and twice garnering the distinction in water polo, Whittemore attended the University of Redlands as a successful dual-sport student-athlete. She finished her degree in Psychology and then went on to complete her master's degree as the first aquatics graduate assistant in Redlands' history. Whittemore is married to Head Men's Water Polo Coach, Tom Whittemore.  They reside in Redlands with their two children, Tait and Maggie.

Jeff Depew

Assistant Coach

Depew returned to the University of Redlands in August of 2016 to begin his duties as the graduate assistant coach for the mens and womens swimming & diving teams. In addition to coaching the Bulldogs, Depew attends the School of Education in pursuit of his Master of Higher Education. Depew originally arrived in Redlands from Naperville, IL, and quickly left his mark as a dedicated and talented student-athlete.   Depew, who has forever inked his name in the Redlands record books, became one of the most decorated swimmers in Bulldog history after raking in 16 total All-America or Honorable Mention All-America nods as either an individual or as a member of a relay. This talented competitor reached the NCAA Division III Championships each of his four years as a Bulldog and captured three-consecutive titles in the 200 Individual Medley. At his final NCAA meet, he took second in the 200 Fly, finished fourth in the 200 IM, and posted a fifth-place time in the 400 IM to cap off an incredible career. As a senior, he was named the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Senior Athlete of the Meet after winning the conference title in the 200 IM, 200 Fly, and 400 IM to bring his SCIAC championships to six and his All-SCIAC total to 20 accolades. In addition, he holds numerous individual school records and contributed to two record-setting relays that sit atop the Bulldogs' top-10 lists. Furthermore, Depew excelled in the classroom, earning SCIAC All-Academic Swimming honors and contributing to the team's College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders in 2015. Prior to joining the Maroon and Gray staff, Depew served as a coach for the Redlands Swim Team. He enjoys coaching because he loves to be involved with student-athletes goals and successes. Depew looks forward to giving back to a sport that has provided him with so much. In the future, Depew wishes to continue working at a successful four-year university, preferably in Southern California, in either advising, athletics, or university relations. In his free time, he enjoys going to the beach, hiking, golfing, and watching sports. Depew currently resides in Redlands.
