Megan Jessee

Head Coach

Megan Jessee enters her seventh season as head coach of the Rhode Island women's soccer program in 2023.  Jessee led the Rams to their best league slate of her tenure in 2021, going 5-4-1. It was the best conference record for the Rams since 2007, and Jessee led URI to its first A-10 postseason appearance since 2016. In her first year at the helm, Jessee led the Rams to wins over Vermont, Vanderbilt, and Albany. The Rams saw their best success under Jessee winning four games in 2019, including Jessee's first career conference victory in a win over Richmond. Also highlighted in the 2019 schedule was a four-game unbeaten streak featuring a 1-1 tie at Pittsburgh (ACC). Before Jessee was named the ninth head coach in women's soccer program history, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest. While with the Demon Deacons, she worked with the goalkeepers, totaling 86 shutouts during her tenure - including 15 shutouts in 2009 and 14 in 2011, which rank as the two highest totals in school history. Jessee helped guide Wake Forest to the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference team title and six NCAA Championship appearances.  In 2009, the Demon Deacons program reached historic heights, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship and finishing with a final national ranking of No. 8 in the country. Prior to her time at Wake Forest, Jessee spent a year as the women's soccer graduate assistant at Slippery Rock University. While at Slippery Rock, Jessee served as the field player and goalkeeper coach and also helped with recruiting and team operations. Jessee also has coached for the Connecticut Olympic Development Program, the FSA Soccer Plus Football Club, Soccer Plus Camps and the Region 1 ODP Girls Soccer Camp. A four-year letterwinner while at Connecticut, Jessee earned Big East Goalkeeper of the Week honors three times in the 2004 season. Jessee was named a member of the Big East Academic All Star Team and the Big East All-Second Team in 2004. After finishing her career at UConn, Jessee spent a year with the Soccer Plus Connecticut Reds of the Women's Premier Soccer League. Jessee earned her bachelor's degree as a liberal arts and science major with minors in business and communications. updated 6/3/23

Megan Mackey

Assistant Coach

Rhode Island women's soccer head coach Megan Jessee announced the addition of Megan Mackey to the staff in June. Mackey joins the Rams from Harvard, making two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last two years with the Crimson. "Megan is a young coach who has played at the highest levels of Division I women's soccer at Harvard," said Jessee. "Her experience as a student-athlete at that level will help her connect with our players to push them to be their very best. I believe although Megan has limited college coaching experience, she has great soccer knowledge and the drive and passion to be a great coach." A native of Crawley, England, Mackey graduated from Harvard in 2023 after spending five years on the Crimson women's soccer team.   Her senior year, she helped Harvard win the inaugural Ivy League Tournament Championship, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Mackey saw 20 minutes of action in the team's NCAA First Round win over Maine, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.  Before her time at Harvard, she was a member of the U19 Republic of Ireland National Team and served as a team captain. She was a UEFA U17 European Championship finalist in 2017 and was nominated for the Republic of Ireland U16 Player of the Year in 2016. Mackey played for Chelsea for four years, including the PSG Tournament winners in 2016.  updated 6/25/24
