Kevin Grebin
Head Coach
Grebin was named the 2010 GPAC Women's Coach of the Year for the second straight season. The women were perfect in regular season conference play with a 8-0 record and went on to win the GPAC tournament in dramatic fashion to earn their ticket to the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Ala. The Cougars also boasted the 2010 Women's Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year in Jenny Lewellen, the second straight year she won the award. Lewellen was one of five first team all-conference performers in singles and on one of three all-conference doubles teams. The Cougar men in 2010 won the GPAC tournament as well and joined the women in Mobile, Ala. for the NAIA National Tournament. Juan Carlos Mata-Buxade represented the men in singles play as a honorable mention selection and was also a No. 1 doubles player with partner Borjan Jaksic. Grebin coached seven all-conferece singles players and three all-conference doubles teams on the men's side in 2009. Four women landed on the GPAC team for singles play and Lewellen and Osterloo were all-conference No. 1 doubles perfomrers. In 2008, the men's tennis program rebounded from a 3-10 start and won 10 of their final 12 matches, including a 5-2 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan on May 3 to clinch their second consecutive GPAC tournament title. They also made the NAIA national tournament for the second consecutive season. The women's team finished with an overall mark of 9-13, and a second-place finish in the GPAC. They ended strong, winning five of their final eight matches, including a huge upset of then-undefeated Nebraska Wesleyan. Karmyn Marchand, Meggie Gough, Amanda Forest, and Meghan Klein all took home accolades for the GPAC all-singles team. The 1979 graduate of Sioux Falls College played No. 1 singles all four years of his collegiate career. In 1979, Grebin was named to the All District team. He has served the program as an assistant coach for the past four years and was named the 2005 Region III Women's Coach of the Year and the 2007 and 2008 Region III Men's Coach of the Year. Grebin has remained very active in South Dakota tennis. For two years, he taught and coached at Colman High School. He has also coached at Westward Ho Country Club and the Sioux Falls Parksand Recreation Department. He continues to play in tennis tournaments across South Dakota. Grebin has won the Black Hills Open in doubles, C.C. Lee Tournament, South Dakota Closed Tournament, and the City Doubles Tournament multiple times. Kevin Grebin will be a full-time employee at the University of Sioux Falls, also working as the Director of Security and teaching criminal justice courses.
