Oliver Trittenwein
Head Coach
Trittenwein is in his seventh season as head coach of the mens and womens tennis teams at USC Upstate. In his first season at the helm of the Spartan tennis program, Trittenwein had a total of five players named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Team. Ramiro Blanco was a first-team selection, while Ana-Sofia Camberos, Matias Di Pasquale and Marco Linconir picked up second-team honors. Gonzalo Blanco rounded out the ASUN Honorees as an All-Freshman selection. Trittenwein guided the men's team to a third-place finish in the ASUN as they finished 12-11 overall and 8-2 in conference play. The men's squad closed out the 2011 campaign with nine wins in their final 11 matches. In Trittenwien's second year at the helm of the Spartans' tennis programs he recorded 19 combined wins and eight ASUN victories. He coached Ramiro Blanco to First-Team All-Conference honors and All-Tournament honors on the men's side, while Isabel von Stryk was named Second-Team All-conference and earned All-Freshman honors on the women's side. Trittenwein guided both Spartan tennis teams to successful seasons in 2013, leading the womens team to a 14-8 overall record and a 5-3 mark inside the Atlantic Sun Conference en route to an appearance in the semifinals of the ASUN Womens Tennis Championship for the first time in school history. Under Trittenweins tutelage, Upstate landed one of its athletes on the ASUN All-Freshman team and one on the All-Academic team. On the mens side, Trittenwein led the team to 10 victories and a 4-4 record in conference play, which included a four-match winning streak to end the regular season. Trittenwein produced the 2013 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year after helping Matthias Kidler post a perfect 7-0 record in league play and a 15-4 overall record. Kidler ended the regular season on an 11-match winning streak and was ranked for five consecutive weeks during the season. Ramon Simonetti was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All Freshman team under the direction of Trittenwein. Simonetti finished the regular season with back-to-back singles wins to help clinch Upstates second consecutive appearance in the A-Sun Championship. The 2014 season was another success for Trittenwein, as he guided the mens team to a 4-4 mark inside the ASUN and another appearance in the conference tournament. Upstate also experienced individual success as well, as Kidler earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Sun second team after posting a 5-2 league record playing primarily from the No. 1 position. Trittenwein also played an instrumental role in the breakout season of sophomore Jamie Yates. Yates posted a 13-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark inside the A-Sun on his way to tying for the fifth-most wins in the conference. Trittenwein also produced two All-ASUN performers on the womens side as well in 2014, helping von Stryk land on the first team and Anna Zoske on the All-Freshman Team. Von Stryk ended the season with a team-best 12-6 record in singles play, which was tied for the third-most victories of any player in the ASUN. She also turned in a 5-2 record in league play and was tied for the second-most wins in the league. Von Stryk is the first Spartan to be named to the All-A-Sun first team since 2009. Trittenwein and the Spartans put together a breakout year in 2015, as Upstate won its final three matches of the season to finish with a 4-2 record in league play. The Spartans secured their highest seed in the ASUN Tournament since joining the league when Upstate earned the No. 3 seed after a win over Kennesaw State on Senior Day. Trittenwein and the Spartans would go on to reach the semifinals of the tournament before falling to host North Florida. Individual success also continued under the guidance of Trittenwein, as four Spartans from the mens team were tabbed all-conference. The men's team had a breakthrough in 2016 after appearing in its first conference tournament championship game after defeated top-seeded Florida Gulf Coast 4-3. The Spartans hosted the 2016 ASUN Tennis Championship and faced 75th-ranked North Florida in the championship game. Upstate had four players named ASUN All-Conference in Ramon Simonetti, Jamie Yates, Ankush Arora and Lenhard Haupt. Prior to arriving in Spartanburg, Trittenwein was the head men's tennis coach at the University of Texas-San Antonio. Trittenwein spent 12 seasons at the helm of the Roadrunners tennis program before resigning to pursue other opportunities. In his first three seasons (2000-02), Trittenwein led the Roadrunners to a 14-2 mark in Southland play, which was the second-best mark in the circuit during that span. In addition, von Stryk posted a 5-2 record in league play and was tied for the second-most wins of anyone in the conference.
