Head Coach
Edge came to UTD after a highly-successful, 10-year stint at his alma mater - the University of the Redlands, a D-III school in California. During his six seasons as Redlands' men's golf coach, Edge's squads finished among the top 16 in NCAA D-III each of the last five years. In his first season at UTD, Edge mentored a pair of All-ASC performers on the men's side in Blake Trahan and Levi Pettit and coached one of the top women's golfers in program history in Michelle Oliff. In 2015, Edge guided Redlands to a No. 1 national ranking in NCAA D-III and a fifth place finish at the NCAA national tournament. A 2014 and 2015 GCAA National Coach of the Year finalist, Edge led the Bulldogs to their first SCIAC title in nearly a decade. In his six seasons as head coach, Redlands finished no worse than third at the SCIAC Tournament. Edge's Bulldogs have placed in the top five nationally three of the past four seasons, finishing third in 2014 and fifth in 2012. He was named the 2015 GCAA West Region Coach of the Year. Through the 2015 season, Edge amassed more than 500 head-to-head wins for an impressive winning percentage of .781. Widely respected among the golf community, Edge is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the U.S. Golf Association (USGA). Also, he serves as a West Regional representative of the NCAA. In his six years at Redlands, Edge coached 21 All-SCIAC performers, including three consecutive SCIAC Freshmen of the Year honorees (2011-13) and the SCIAC Golfer of the Year in 2014. In all, he coached nine Ping All-Americans, 14 All-West Region performers and one NCAA D-III individual champion. His players have garnered the honor of being named the Jack Nicklaus Division III Player of the Year (2014), the Phil Mickelson National Freshman of the Year (2013), and finalists for the prestigious Byron Nelson Award (2015) and Palmer Cup Team (2014, 2015). His teams climbed to No. 1 in the national poll each of the past two seasons and ended each of his six regular seasons ranked seventh or higher. In addition, Edge coached 11 All-America Scholars and two CoSIDA First Team Academic All-Americans. As an undergraduate at Redlands, Edge competed in football each of his four years and earned many prestigious awards. A team captain, he landed on the All-SCIAC and NAIA All-District 3 teams. He also boasted three straight seasons of earning Little All-Coast honors, along with NCAA and NAIA All-America accolades. His teammates named him the Most Valuable Player at defensive back as well as the squad's Most Inspirational Player. Finally, Edge was inducted into the Redlands Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990 as well as the Redlands High School Hall of Fame in 2011. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Redlands in 1975 and his master's degree in education counseling a year later. Prior to his return to Redlands, Edge served as Athletic Director at nearby Bloomington High School from 2000-2004.
