Randy Greer

Head Coach

Greer hails from Eubank, Kentucky, where he earned a B.S. degree in physical education from the University of the Cumberlands in 2001.  He previously served on the UC coaching staff, beginning his coaching career in the fall of 2000 as a volunteer Assistant Cross Country coach at UC, while later being named Assistant Track coach at Whitley County High School in the spring of 2001. During his time at Cumberland, the Patriot men's team finished 8th in the NAIA national Cross Country meet, with several Patriot athletes earning individual national titles and claiming All-American status.  Greer worked specifically with jumpers, throwers, and pole-vaulters while at UC. Greer left Cumberland in the fall of 2003 to join the Cross Country and Track coaching staff at nearby Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Kentucky.  He helped lead the Pulaski boys' and girls' teams to regional championships and both teams qualified for the state meet.  Greer also helped lead the Pulaski boys' Track and Field team to a regional championship. After his time at PCHS, he joined the staff at Anderson University in South Carolina as an assistant in the fall of 2004.  Greer was involved with every aspect of the Trojan program.  In 2006 Greer was promoted to head coach of the Men and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field and led AU to arguably the best season in school history for both the Cross Country and Track and Field teams in 2010-11, as he was named the South Atlantic Conference Co-Coach of the Year for Women's Cross Country following the squad's first-place finish in the SAC Championship. Greer again claimed SAC Coach of the Year accolades in 2011 for leading the Women's Cross Country squad to yet another conference title.  Greers coaching success can be seen through the success of his athletes.  Greer coached a total of two NCAA All-Americans, 12 NCAA National Qualifiers, 7 individual Cross Country champions, a remarkable 94 All-Conference selections, and a 4-time Conference Coach of the Year winner.   Also, his teams and individuals have shattered 106 school records. His teams have proven to be successful in the classroom as well, with his teams and individuals earning All-Academic recognition from both the NCAA and the USTFCCCA on several occasions. Coach Greer stated about coming back to his alma mater saying, "University of the Cumberlands has always been a special place for me and my wife and we are excited to have the chance to come back home.  UC's Cross Country and Track and Field program has an unbelievable history and I am honored to have the chance to continue the tradition.  Coach Stroud and Coach Temple have left very big shoes to fill but I am looking forward to the challenge.  I would like to thank Coach Vernon and Dr. Cockrum for allowing me to come back to UC.  I would also like to thank my wife Brandi for being so supportive throughout this process." Coach Greer currently resides in Williamsburg, KY with his wife Brandi.
