Head Coach
Belfield has led the women's cross country team to a third place finish at three of the last four America East Championships. At the 2014 championship meet, three individual runners earned All-America East honors for the third time since 2009. His teams have also earned a multitude of awards away from the course. In 2016, the men's cross country team was honored with a NCAA Public Recognition Award for the sixth straight year, while the mens track & field squad garnered the laurels for the third consecutive season. Vermont has seen athletes earn All-Conference honors at the championship meet every year since 2009, when the Catamounts hosted the event. That year, Doug Maisey and Aly Millett both posted top-5 individual performances for UVM. Kirsten Weberg and Yolanda Ngarambe also earned top-5 finishes at the 2012 and 2013 meets. During the 2014-15 track & field season, Martin Kallur was named an America East Scholar Athlete for both the winter and spring season. Kallur won the Coaches Award at the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships after collecting the most points of any male athlete. The men's team placed fourth overallits highest-ever team finish at the event. In 2014, Vermont hosted the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the first time at the new Frank H. Livak Track & Field Facility. The women's team placed second overall to mark its highest finish since winning the conference title in 2001, while the men placed fifth for their best finish since 1995. Brittany St. Clair was named the America East Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer to sweep the honor in 2014, becoming the first Vermont athlete to accomplish the feat in a decade. UVM also received the America East Women's Coaching Staff of the Year award, closing the event with a total of eight titles and 16 all-conference performances. The 2014 outdoor season also saw Nika Ouellette match the highest NCAA National Championship finish in program history after taking 13th in the women's javelin. Ouellette became the first female in school history to reach the 50-meter mark in the javelin and finished her career as a three-time NCAA All-American. She won four straight America East women's javelin titles, becoming the first athlete to accomplish the feat in conference history. In 2012, a school-record three female student-athletes qualified for the NCAA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Morgan Powers finished 13th overall in the 10,000-meter run and was a Second Team All-American with Nika Ouellette, who took 14th in the javelin. Kirsten Weberg placed 17th in the 3000-meter steeplechase to earn All-America Honorable Mention honors. Powers and Weberg both met the U.S. Olympics Trials B standard with their NCAA performances. Belfield came to UVM from Ithaca College, where he was a five-time New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Coach of the Year and led the Bombers to three straight conference outdoor track & field titles. During his three-year head coaching tenure at Ithaca, Belfield's student-athletes broke 14 school records and recorded 11 All-America performances. Prior to arriving at Ithaca, Belfield was head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams at the University of the Redlands in Redlands, California. Belfield coached a national champion hammer-thrower and a two-time national champion high jumper. Belfield served as an assistant coach at Redlands for three years prior to being named head coach in July of 1996. He has also worked on the coaching staffs at Colgate University and Catholic University. A graduate of Catholic, Belfield was a six-time all-conference high jumper during his undergraduate career. He was the 1989 Mason-Dixon Conference champion in the high jump and still holds the school record in the event. In addition to track & field, Belfield also played football at Catholic after serving as quarterback of his high school football team. He received a bachelor's degree in financial management from Catholic in 1990 and earned his master's degree in education with an emphasis in counseling from Redlands in 1994. He is USATF Level 2 Sport Science Coaching certified with Jumping Event Specialization. Belfield lives in Jericho, Vermont with his wife Bonnie, who was an assistant coach for the Catamounts from 1993-97 and 2003-08. They have two daughters, Arianna and Brooklyn.

Brett Willmott
Associate Head Coach
Willmott Associate Head Coach Follow @BWillmottCSCS Associate head coach Brett Willmott enters his eighth year coaching at Vermont. The former Plattsburgh State head track & field coach was hired in September of 2007. Willmott is responsible for coaching the sprints, hurdles, jumps, and multi-event athletes. In eight seasons with the Catamounts (2007-15), he has coached over 100 all-conference performers, seventeen conference champions, and his student-athletes have broken over 25 school records. Willmott also coached the first-ever men's contingent Vermont has sent to the NCAA East Regional Meet, including a total of eight men and women. On the mens side, NCAA qualifier Mitchell Switzer extended his career in Europe with current hurdler Martin Kallur. Switzer finished his first summer tour with a victory in the intermediate hurdles, while Kallur became Swedish Junior National Champion in the high hurdles running a lifetime best of 14.31. Most recently, Mallory Duncan won his third straight America East title in the 400 intermediate hurdles while breaking his own school record. Ian Weider also won the long jump title at the America East Championships. In 2011, Willmott helped Ase Lundin win an Outdoor New England Championship in the high jump in dramatic fashion by winning with a personal best performance in a 10 round jump-off to break a three-way tie. In 2012, heptathlon standout Brittany St. Clair followed up with another high jump victory at the championships and tied the school record (1.80), helping her to advance to the NCAA level. Recently, heptathlete Sara Roderick captured both America East and ECAC championships in her event. Mallory Honan added a long jump title at the New England Championships. A 1995 graduate of Plattsburgh, Willmott came to Vermont after four years as the head track & field coach at his alma mater. During his four-year tenure, the Cardinals established many school records, crowned 18 State University of New York Athletic Conference individual champions, and produced 13 All-Americans and scholar All-Americans. At the 2006 NCAA Division III Championships, the mens indoor team posted a No. 22 final ranking and the womens outdoor squad recorded a school-record 25th place showing. At the 2007 NCAA Championships, Willmott coached John Daly to a fifth place finish in the decathlon. Daly, who earned an All-America citation, broke the Plattsburgh State school-record by 236 points and the Cardinals finished 49th overall. Willmott also guided Daly to his second Olympic games in the sport of skeleton. He also tutors U.S. slider Annie OShea, and former Catamounts Mike Rogals and Jake Hopkins who are 2018 Olympic hopefuls. Willmott has also served as a clinician and guest speaker for the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additionally, he serves as board member for the National Postural Institute, and is also certified through the NSCA and USAW.

Joe Gingras
Associate Head Coach
Gingras earned America East All-Conference honors after placing fifth in the steeplechase at the 1998 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships. His fifth place finish also qualified him for the New England Championships later that year. As a senior, he earned all-conference honors for the second straight year with a third place finish in the steeplechase and finished 11th out of 24 qualifiers at the New England Championships. Gingras graduated from Vermont in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in economics and geography. He was the recipient of the John H. Converse Award given to the outstanding senior in economics and was a member of the Gamma Theta Upsilon International Honor Society for geography. Gingras was a six-time member of the Dean's List at UVM and six-time member of the America East Academic Honor Roll.

Greg Wisser
Assistant Coach
Wisser enters his ninth season with the University of Vermont track & field program in 2016-17. Wisser is responsible for coaching the pole vault, throwers and multi-event athletes. Wisser helped transition Martin Kallur to multi-events for the 2014-15 season. Kallur was crowned the New England indoor heptathlon champion and broke his own school record in the process. Kallur also won the Coaches Award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships after collecting the most points of any male athlete. Previously, Wisser coached three-time NCAA All-American javelin thrower Nika Ouellette, who became the first athlete in conference history to win four straight America East titles. In 2014 as a senior, Ouellette matched the highest NCAA National Championship finish in program history with 13th in the javelin. Ouellette also became the first female in school history to eclipse the 50-meter mark at the 2014 NCAA East Preliminary Round. Vermont swept the javelin at the 2012 America East Championships as Sam Hoadley claimed the men's title after breaking the school record as a senior. In 2011, Wisser sent three javelin throwers to the NCAA Preliminary Round. Ouellette went on to become Vermont's first ever NCAA All-America Honorable Mention and national championship qualifier as a freshman. Wisser came to UVM after serving as an assistant coach at SUNY Plattsburgh from 2006-08. While with the Cardinals, he developed John Daly into an All-America decathlete. Daly broke a 30-year-old school record with 6,786 points at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Pittsburgh native began with the Cardinals in August 2006 after two seasons as an assistant coach for track & field and cross country at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. There, he designed the strength and conditioning program, coached throwing events, multi-events, hurdles, pole vault and high jump, groomed 15 NCAA and Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifiers, and helped the Mariners to back-to-back Skyline Conference cross country championships for both the men and women. Wisser earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He was a four-year decathlon letterman on the Gator track & field squad, which captured both indoor and outdoor North Coast Athletic Conference championships in 2003 and 2004. He holds memberships with USA Track & Field and the National Pole Vault Coaches Association, and he is a certified Level 1 coach.

Kasey Hill
Coach
Hill, a native of Montgomery Center, Vermont and former North Country High School standout, went on to compete collegiately at Boston College. A 2007 graduate, she was inducted into the BC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. "She has competed at the highest level of our sport and has helped coach NCAA Division I champions," Belfield added. "She has a broad portfolio of other work experiences that will help our staff be efficient and productive. The icing on the cake is that she is a Vermonter, which will be a big boost to our local recruiting efforts." Hill is the BC record holder in both the pentathlon and heptathlon. She ranks among the all-time top-five lists in the 55m hurdles (8.00), 100m hurdles (13.72), 200m (24.15), shot put (45' 11.75"), javelin (129'), and long jump (19' 6"). Hill became the first ever Boston College field athlete to earn All-America honors and was a two-time All-American during her career with the Eagles. She finished ninth in the pentathlon at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships and was fourth in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships during her senior season. In 2008, after winning the ACC Championship in the pentathlon and heptathlon, Hill received the Nathaniel J. Hasenfus '22 Eagle of the Year Award, given to BC's top student-athlete. She graduated from BC with a degree in marketing and operations management. In her post-collegiate career, Hill represented Team USA in numerous meets, including the 2010 Thorpe Cup where she finished sixth to help the U.S. defeat Germany in a combined events competition. She finished fourth at the 2010 USATF Championships and also competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008 and 2012. Hill also brings several years of coaching experience to Vermont. She served as a volunteer assistant coach at Harvard and for the Cambridge Jets Youth Track Club from 2008-2009. In addition, she was a volunteer assistant coach at Kansas State for two years and an assistant coach with the Wildcats for one season. While there, she helped coach two NCAA champions in her role guiding athletes in sprints, jumps, and combined-events.
