My name is Cam Hines, and I am passionate about coaching football and mentoring athletes both on and off the field. I have had the privilege of working with various programs, including my time at the University of West Florida, where I pursued my master's in Sports Performance & Coaching. My journey has been shaped by a lifetime of playing sports, growing up in a big family, and my Army background, which instilled discipline and teamwork in me. As a coach, I focus on building relationships, teaching life skills, and helping players achieve their full potential while fostering a winning culture.

Steve Saulnier

Steve Saulnier was one of the original coaches in UWF Football program history. Donny Baker

Coach

Donny Baker joined the University of West Florida football staff as the offensive coordinator in February of 2025. Baker came to UWF after spending four years on staff at NCAA Division II North Greenville University. Baker played four years as a quarterback at North Greenville before jumping into coaching starting in the 2021 season with his alma mater. His first two years were spent as an assistant coach overseeing the wide receiver group. In 2023 Baker was promoted to the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. He stayed in that position for two seasons before making the move to Pensacola, Fla. At NGU the Trailblazers won 20 games during his time. “With my wife being a graduate of UWF, I have admired this university from afar and followed the football program for a long time,” Baker said. “So, when Coach Nobles presented the opportunity to step on staff here, it was not a hard decision. My relationship with Coach Nobles has grown over the years and I have always had a lot of respect for him and the way he sets the culture for the program.” During his playing career at North Greenville, Baker played in 17 games, throwing for 1,187 yards and five touchdowns.   QUOTE FROM COACH NOBLES: "Donny brings a wealth of offensive experience to UWF Football that will help us be an elite offense week in & week out. Kavell Conner

Coach Kavell Conner completed his third season at UWF in 2025 as the Argos’ Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach, continuing to direct one of the most dominant defenses in Division II football. In 2025, UWF’s defense again reached historic levels of production. The Argos allowed just 39.9 rushing yards per game, the lowest mark in Gulf South Conference history and No. 1 nationally, while also leading the country in yards per rush (1.5). For the second straight season, West Florida led all of college football—regardless of division—in tackles for loss per game, cementing the unit as the most disruptive defense in the sport. The 2025 defense was driven by elite individual production across all three levels of the defense: Ja’Kobe Clinton (LB) led the Gulf South Conference in tackles for loss (19.0) and finished third in sacks (7.0) while ranking among the league leaders in total tackles (78). His play earned him GSC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-GSC honors. Nationally, Clinton was named AFCA First Team, AP First Team, Don Hansen First Team, and D2CCA Second Team All-American, and was selected to the D2Football.com Elite 100. Kevin Roberts (DL) ranked second in the GSC in tackles for loss (18.0) and led the conference in sacks (9.0). He earned First Team All-GSC, CFB Network Third Team All-American, and selection to the D2Football.com Elite 100. In the secondary, Chester Fearon (DB) tied for second in the GSC with 5 interceptions, anchoring a turnover-producing back end. He earned AP Second Team All-American and Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-American honors. Walker Robinson (LB) posted 85 total tackles, added 8.0 tackles for loss, and earned First Team All-GSC recognition. Warren Coneway (LB) finished with 52 total tackles and 8.0 tackles for loss, earning Second Team All-GSC honors. Collectively, Conner’s 2025 defense placed three players on All-America teams, produced the GSC Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season, and developed three All-GSC linebackers in Clinton (First Team), Robinson (First Team), and Coneway (Second Team). In 2024, Conner directed a defense that led all of Division II — and all levels of college football — in tackles for loss per game (11) and yards per play allowed (3.6). The Argos finished third nationally in total defense and sacks per game, while also ranking top-10 in rushing defense and pass efficiency defense. For the second consecutive year, UWF produced the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year, with Traevon Mitchell following in the footsteps of 2023 winner John McMullen. Mitchell also became UWF’s second straight All-American defensive player. Additionally, sophomore Ralph Ortiz earned First Team All-GSC at linebacker in 2024 after winning GSC Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2023. In 2023, Conner’s first season as coordinator, the Argos built the foundation for their modern defensive identity. The unit finished No. 1 in the GSC in total defense, sacks, and third-down defense while ranking second in rush and pass defense. Conner developed three first-year starters into postseason award winners: Gael Laurent — First Team All-GSC & All-Region Ralph Ortiz — GSC Defensive Freshman of the Year (first in program history) Walker Robinson — All-GSC selection Prior to UWF, Conner spent two seasons working with the defense at Clemson University, assisting with linebackers and working on the field during games. As a player, Conner was a standout linebacker at Clemson (2005–09), leading the team in tackles in both 2008 and 2009 and serving as a captain on Clemson’s first ACC Championship Game team. He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft, playing six NFL seasons with the Colts and San Diego Chargers before spending time with the Baltimore Ravens and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL). He was named a 2010 NFL All-Rookie selection. Conner earned his degree in sociology from Clemson in 2009.

Joe Wintrick

Joe Wintrick was hired in December 2022 as part of Kaleb Nobles' staff where he is responsible for coaching the running backs and tight ends. He also serves as the Director of Football Operations. In spring of 2025 Wintrick was promoted to Run Game Coordinator for the Argos.    In 2025, UWF's rushing attack led the conference in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns with 2,386 yards gained and 28 TD’s. Averaging 181.6 rushing yards per game. Sophomore Running Back TJ Lane earned First Team All Conference accounting for 14 TD’s, 903 rushing yards and 198 receiving yards. UWF had the Top 2 rushing yard leaders in the conference in the same RB room. Senior RB Jay Sharp finished second in the conference with 729 rushing yards gained. 2025 marks the 3rd consecutive season in which Wintrick has produced an All Conference Running Back. Also in 2025, Junior Tight End Jake Robinette finished with 199 receiving yards and 4 TD’s. Robinette earned First Team All Region and First Team All Conference. Becoming the first All Region and All Conference Tight End in school history. Jake Robinette now ranks #1 in career Touchdowns and Receiving yards for Tight Ends in School History. In 2024 the Argos rushed for 1,792 yards and averaged 153.6 yards on the ground per game. The running backs combined for 1,413 of those yards. UWF rushed for 19 total touchdowns. Wintrick coached junior running back Jay Sharp who earned Second Team All - GSC All Purpose.  In 2023, the Argos rush offense ran for nearly 1,000 yards more than its opponents. Wintrick helped guide the rush game to 2,439 total yards and 19 touchdowns. The running backs averaged 5.7 yards per rush. The team averaged 178.7 rushing yards per game. Wintrick coached senior running back CJ Wilson who earned Second Team All GSC. Junior tight end Jackson Blalock had the second most receiving yards in a season by a tight end in school history at 135 yards. As well as the most yards per catch by a tight end in school history at 19.29 yards per catch.  Before coaching full-time at UWF, Wintrick spent a year at Division I FBS Louisiana-Monroe under head coach Terry Bowden. He served as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach and assisted the Offensive Coordinator in the press box on game days.   "Joe brings both playing and coaching experience as an Argonaut and knows what it looks like to win a championship doing things the right way," Nobles said. "We look forward to Joe and his family being back with the Argonaut family in Pensacola." In his first coaching stint at UWF, Wintrick was the Tight Ends Coach, Video Coordinator from January 2020 - January 2022. Wintrick, recruited and developed tight end Maverick Wolfley, who would end up signing a NFL rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Spring of 2023.  As a 3-year letterwinner from the Argonauts from 2017-19, Wintrick started 37 games, including 10 NCAA Playoff contests. He earned Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-GSC as a senior in 2019. He transferred to UWF prior to the 2017 season after two years at Northwestern Oklahoma State. In his college career, Wintrick played in 52 games and started in 48. Playing the majority of his career at guard position, Wintrick made his first career start at left tackle in the third round of the playoffs in 2019. Wintrick was voted on to the GSC Fall All-Academic Team in 2019 and was a member of the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society. The Tampa, Fla. native graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fitness and Sport Coaching in 2019 and has a masters degree in human performance from UWF. Wintrick is married to his wife Mackenzie, who is a local elementary school teacher. Together they welcomed their first child, Joe Jr who was born in May of 2025.

Jordan Remsza

Coach

Jordan Remsza is entering his fourth season at UWF as Defensive Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator after returning to Pensacola in December 2022. Defensively, Remsza has been a key architect of UWF’s national success. Under his direction, the Argos have consistently ranked among the nation’s best in total yards per play allowed, passing yards per play, sacks, tackles for loss, forced fumbles, and third-down defense. In 2025, UWF ranked #11 nationally in total defense and #1 in the GSC, while also finishing #8 nationally in turnovers gained (26) and #3 nationally in third-down conversion defense, leading the conference in both categories. His secondary has produced multiple All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American performers. On special teams, Remsza has built one of the most explosive and efficient units in Division II. In 2025, UWF ranked among the nation’s best across multiple special teams categories: Punt Average — #15 nationally Net Punt Average — #17 nationally Punt Return TDs — #1 in the GSC Blocked Punts — #4 nationally Net Kickoff Average — #1 in the GSC Under his guidance, UWF has broken multiple school records in punt return average, kickoff return average, punt return touchdowns, and punt return yards in both single-season and single-game categories, while also placing among the top of the GSC record books in several special teams metrics. Notable players developed under Remsza include: Chester Fearon (DB, 2025) — Earned Associated Press Second Team All-American and Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-American honors. -Second in the Gulf South Conference with five interceptions, anchoring a turnover-producing secondary. Virgil Lemons (2024) — All-American Punt Returner and All-Region cornerback; signed with the Tennessee Titans after leading the nation in punt return average and setting both UWF and GSC records for punt return yards. Roderick Webb — DB (Second Team All-GSC) Tony Newsome — DB (Second Team All-GSC) Patrick Delcour — All-Conference Special Teams Utility selection Logan Gregory (2024) — All-Conference and All-Region punter; set the UWF single-season punt average record. Jay Sharp (2024) — All-Conference return specialist; led the GSC and ranked top-10 nationally in kick return average (33.0), breaking the UWF single-season record. Anthony Ballard (2024) — All-Conference Special Teams Utility selection. Quincy Milhomme (2023) — All-Region and All-Conference safety. Before returning to UWF, Remsza served as Defensive Backs Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Quincy University (2022), developing two All-GLVC defensive backs. Earlier that year, he coached defensive backs at Faulkner University. From 2019–2021, Remsza was a graduate assistant at UWF, coaching outside linebackers on the 2019 National Championship defense, where his unit totaled 18 sacks and produced All-Conference and All-Region performer Trent Archie. His earlier coaching stops include: Avila University (2018) — Recruiting Coordinator / Running Backs Coach Independence Community College (2017–18) — Assistant DB Coach & Recruiting Coordinator; helped lead ICC to its first KJCCC title in over 30 years and was featured on Last Chance U. As a player, Remsza was a First Team All-Conference defensive back at Ripon College (2015), finishing his career with 161 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 22 pass breakups, and three forced fumbles/recoveries. He remains tied for eighth in school history for single-game interceptions. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Remsza earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in sociology and history from Ripon College in 2016.

Lucas Melo

Coach Melo completed his third season at the University of West Florida in 2025 as the Argos’ Defensive Run Game Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach, continuing to shape one of the most disruptive and physically dominant defensive fronts in college football. In 2025, UWF’s defense reached historic levels of production behind Melo’s defensive line. The Argos allowed just 39.9 rushing yards per game, the lowest mark in Gulf South Conference history and No. 1 nationally, while also leading the country in yards per rush (1.5). For the second straight season, West Florida led all of college football across all divisions in tackles for loss, cementing the unit as the most disruptive front in the sport. Additionally, for back-to-back seasons, the defensive line finished top three nationally in both sacks and third-down defense. Under Melo’s guidance, the Argos’ defense continued its sustained excellence, finishing No. 1 in the Gulf South Conference for the third consecutive season in total defense, rush defense, sacks, tackles for loss, and turnovers. The defense’s dominance helped UWF post a 10–2 record and another nationally ranked season. Melo’s 2025 defensive line was one of the most decorated in the league, earning four First Team All-GSC selections: Kevin Roberts-Sophomore (DL) Lorenzo Payne Sophomore (DL) Justice Williams Junior (DL) Collin Shaw senior (DL) Nationally, Sophomore Kevin Roberts earned CFB Network Division II Third Team All-American honors, extending UWF’s streak to three consecutive All-American defensive linemen developed under Coach Melo. Roberts was also selected to the D2Football.com 2025 Elite 100, D2Football’s version of an All-America team. In 2024, Melo’s group led all of college football in tackles for loss per game (11) and yards per play allowed (3.6) while finishing third nationally in total defense and sacks per game. Traevon Mitchell was named GSC Defensive Player of the Year and earned Associated Press Second Team All-American and Don Hansen Second Team All-American honors, becoming the second straight All-American defensive lineman developed by Melo at UWF. Across his first three seasons at West Florida (2023–2025), Coach Melo has developed three All-Americans and nine All-GSC defensive linemen, including five First-Team selections and two GSC Defensive Players of the Year (2023, 2024). All-Americans developed at UWF: John McMullen (2023) — Unanimous First Team All-American Traevon Mitchell (2024) — AP Second Team & Don Hansen Second Team All-American Kevin Roberts (2025) — CFB Network Third Team All-American; D2Football.com Elite 100 All-GSC selections under Melo: 2023: John McMullen (First Team), Jacob Dorn (First Team), Byron Puryear (Second Team) 2024: Traevon Mitchell (First Team), Collin Shaw (First Team), Anthony Ballard (Second Team) 2025: Kevin Roberts (First Team), Lorenzo Payne (First Team), Justice Williams (First Team), Collin Shaw (First Team) Before arriving at West Florida, Melo spent four seasons at Davenport University, where he helped the program reach its highest national ranking in school history (No. 13 in 2022). His defensive lines consistently ranked among the best in Division II and produced multiple All-Conference and All-American performers while establishing Davenport as one of the premier defensive fronts in the GLIAC. Notable players developed under Melo at Davenport include: Robert Clanton, who earned First Team All-GLIAC and Don Hansen All-American honors in 2019. Patrick McMahon, a two-time First Team Academic All-American. Additional All-GLIAC defensive linemen including Austin Alward, Malik Barrow, Abe Thompson, Tierre Turner, Brendan Bowman, and Geemonte Peck. Melo previously coached at Wayne State College, where his defensive lines ranked top-10 nationally in sacks. He developed multiple All-Conference, All-Region, and Academic All-American performers, including: Jacob Protzman, who finished his senior season with 12.5 sacks and 22 tackles for loss. Kolby Foster, who recorded 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a senior. At the junior college level, Melo coached at Ellsworth College and Los Angeles Pierce College, playing a major role in the development of All-Americans Keonte Schad, Eric Mateo, and Blaze Alldredge, and helping send seven defensive linemen to NCAA Division I programs, including two top-10 national JUCO prospects. A former defensive lineman at Southeast Missouri State University, Melo earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in educational leadership. He later played three seasons of professional arena football, earning All-League honors and serving as team captain. Coach Melo has three daughters, Brooklyn Melo, Brielle Melo and Alorah Melo
