Kristen Dorsey

Head Coach

Kristen Dorsey is entering her third season as the head women's golf coach at UWF after bring hired in June, 2019. Since being named the fourth head coach in program history, she has steadily improved the play on the course, in the classroom and in community involvement. Her first squad in 2019-20 posted a 310.06 stroke average in the COVID-19-shortened season, while the 2020-21 group shot a 306.75 over 20 rounds, recording the third-lowest average in UWF history and the best in five years. Last season, she mentored Solange Gomez - a 2-time First Team All-GSC performer - through the NCAA Super Regional and into a qualifying position at the NCAA Championships to become just the fourth Argonaut to reach the final site. In the classroom, the Argonauts have posted four-consecutive semester GPAs above 3.3 with the last three terms at 3.53 or higher.   Dorsey is a native of nearby Gulf Breeze, Florida where she graduated from Gulf Breeze High School before going on to play collegiately at Kansas State and Eastern Kentucky. She becomes the fifth coach in the 17-year history of the program.   "We couldn't be more pleased to welcome Kristen back to Northwest Florida as our women's golf coach," UWF Director of Athletics Dave Scott said. "We feel like she can build upon the success and tradition of our program and lead the team to new heights while continuing to Build Champions For Life."   "I want to thank Dave Scott and his staff for giving me this incredible opportunity to be a part of the UWF Argo Family," Dorsey said. "I look forward to working with the players, administration, faculty, staff and entire Northwest Florida community!   "We are in the midst of a very exciting time at UWF and it is my belief with hard work, both in the classroom and on the course, the potential for our Women's Golf program is limitless. It is an honor to return to Pensacola, a community I hold near and dear to my heart, and coach at UWF."    She has participated on the Symetra, Women's All-Pro and Eggland's Best NWGA professional tours over the last three years. Additionally, Dorsey spent 19 months as the Head Junior Coach at Teach, Grow, Achieve in South Orlando. While with TGA, she managed and trained a team of 12 coaches throughout 20 schools.   From 2011-2015 Dorsey worked for the First Tee of Northwest Florida (formerly GPJGA) as the Tournament Director. Her accomplishments during her tenure included helping raise more then $50,000 dollars for the program; organizing 14 tournaments each year for approximately 300 participants, increasing the attendance by 50 percent over the four-year period.   Dorsey was an assistant coach at EKU during the 2013-14 season where she helped lead the Colonels to three team titles, including a runner-up performance at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.   She played at EKU during the 2012-13 season, where she won the OVC individual title with a 223 total, captured Tournament MVP and led the Colonels to the team championship earning a berth in the NCAA Auburn Regional.   Prior to her two years at EKU, Dorsey starred at Kansas State, playing three years for the Wildcats. She redshirted her first year in 2008-09 before playing in six combined events over the next two years. As a junior in 2011-12, Dorsey played in six of the team's 11 events and posted a 77.7 stroke average.   She earned her bachelor's degree in Public Relations and minor in Leadership Studies from Kansas State in 2012 and a master's degree in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky in 2014.   Dorsey is a product of the local The First Tee of Northwest Florida chapter. She won back to back Divot Derby titles is 2007 and 2008. At Gulf Breeze High School, she led the Dolphins to four District Championships, two Regional titles and qualified for state all four years.
