Head Coach
Chip Schneider enters his 23rd season as head coach for Men’s Track and Field and 19th season for Women’s Track & Field in 2025. He also serves as the Director of Cross Country. The Blugolds have been among Division III's elite track & field programs under Schneider's guidance, winning five team national championships since 2015. The Blugold men have been crowned indoor national champions three times (2015, 2016, 2022) and outdoor national champions twice (2019, 2022) with Schneider leading the program. In all, the Blugold men and women have placed in the top 10 at the national championships 32 times with Schneider in charge. Schneider's teams have produced 37 individual national champions, five relay national champions, more than 200 individual All-Americans, more than 50 All-American relay squads, more than 170 conference champions and nearly 150 school record holders. Schneider is a four-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Coach of the Year, earning Indoor Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016 and Outdoor Coach of the Year honors in 2019 and 2022. He is also a three-time winner of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year Award (2008, 2017, 2019) in addition to winning WIAC Women's Indoor Coach of the Year once (2008). Schneider was also the NCAA Midwest Region Men's Indoor Head Coach of the Year in 2020. Schneider earned his bachelor’s degree at UW-Platteville in 1995. He was the national champion in the long jump and in the 400-meter hurdles, eight-time individual All-American, four-time UW-Platteville track and field most valuable athlete, and three-time captain. In 1994, he was named the UW-Platteville Student Athlete of the Year. He also earned Wisconsin State University Conference (WSUC) Academic All-Conference honors. Schneider was inducted into the UW-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013 and was also named to the WIAC All-Time Track and Field Team. Before coming to UW-Eau Claire, Schneider was a graduate assistant coach at UW-La Crosse. He coached hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and sprints for the 2002 men’s indoor and outdoor NCAA Division III National Champions. He coached for two seasons at UW-Platteville, once in 1995-1996 and again in 1999-2001 for sprints, hurdles, and jumps. Schneider was a lead instructor at the University of Wisconsin Learn-By-Doing Camp between 2007-2009 in hurdles and sprints. Chip and his wife Joanna reside in Eau Claire. They are the parents of Drake Schneider, an NCAA Division 1 Track & Field All-American (400m hurdles) and graduate of Montana State University.

Marcie Schwamberger
Assistant Coach
Marcie Schwamberger enters her 19th year as an Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at UW-Eau Claire in 2025. Schwamberger has been an assistant track and field/cross country coach at UWEC since the fall of 2007. She has helped coach two national championship teams in cross country and five in track & field. Additionally, she has helped coach four individual national champions and one national championship relay, plus several All-Americans. Schwamberger graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and earned a K-12 Physical Education degree from Millikin University in 2006. She competed in cross country and track and field at UW-Stevens Point, where she qualified for the NCAA Championships multiple times. Schwamberger teaches physical education in the Eau Claire Area School District. She is married to Dan Schwamberger, who is the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach at UW-Eau Claire.

Schwamberger enters his ninth season in 2015-2016 as the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claires men and womens cross country head coach. Schwamberger also is an assistant coach for men and womens track & field. Womens Cross Country In 2009 Schwamberger was named the NCAA Division III Womens Coach of the Year when he led womens cross country to become NCAA DIII National Champions, following fifth and eighth place finishes in the two years before. In 2010 the Blugolds finished fourth and took fifth in 2012. In 2014 the Blugolds took 17th at the NCAA DIII National Championships. Nine of his runners have received NCAA All-American Awards between 2007-2012. Women Blugolds were Midwest Region Champions under Schwamberger in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012, with a second place finish in both 2011 and 2007. Schwamberger picked up three Midwest Region Womens Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010, and 2012. UW-Eau Claire Womens Cross Country took first place as the WIAC Conference Champions every year between 2007-2012. Schwamberger also received WIAC Womens Cross Country Coach of the Year those six seasons. Mens Cross Country In the past seven years the Mens Cross Country team has had individual and team qualifiers for NCAA Nationals. Mens cross country has finished in the Top 10 at Nationals for the past three years (10th in 2012, 9th in 2013, and 7th in 2014). The seventh place finish at Nationals was the best in program archives. In 2012 and 2013 three runners received NCAA All-American Awards. In 2015 Schwamberger led the squad to its first WIAC title since 1980, earning him WIAC Mens Cross Country Coach of the Year and a runner receiving WIAC Mens Cross Country Athlete of the Year. In 2013 and 2012 the Blugolds were WIAC Conference runner-ups. Womens Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Middle/Long Distance In 2015, Womens Indoor Track & Field took home a tied fourth place finish at the NCAA DIII National Championships, a huge stepping stone from their 23rd place finish in 2013. He coached 10 NCAA All-American Awards recipients in middle and long distance track events. In 2015 Blugolds finished third in the WIAC, the best finish since 2012. Under Schwamberger Womens Track & Field hold nine WIAC Individual Conference Champions. Mens Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Middle/Long Distance In 2015, Mens Indoor Track & Field made school history by winning their first ever NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Team National Championship.
